2016 Microsoft E3 Conference

That was a magnificent conference. Wall to wall (almost) of stuff that was awesome to me.

Xbox One S reveal + Scorpio reveal was incredible.
 
6/10 for me. S looks nice if you dont have a One and want 1. Sea of Thieves looks pretty dope im stoked for it hope its great. Forza Horizon 3 looks good at 60 fps on pc hooboy. Gears is tired imo, Recore and Scalebound looked bad. Scorpio was wat they tryin to scare Sony into waiting? why announce so early.

The 4k Blu-ray player does nothing for me because I'm waiting for the Oppo version that's usually best in class.

For the games themselves?

Gears, I'm always down for.
Recore was a let down.
Sea of Thieves = 0 interest.
Scalebound is a wait and see
FFXV is a no from me. Same with Tekken, though I'll still watch JDCR mop the floor with some folks.
Dead Rising 4, same thing.

So kind of strange, they just told me just wait for their games to hit PC.

It's not strange. They just want someone in your position to buy the software. The hardware is for a different market. The Xbox One and PC are just platform options. The software is what they want to sell. The traditional console era is ending for MS. Now it's just the Xbox platform on various devices.
 
Really looking forward to "We Happy Few" I hope it comes to PS4 eventually. But if not, PC is always an option.

Sea Of Thieves has potential, but I wonder if it will "perform" well enough once it is released.

Scalebound looks impressive in scale (heh heh) but I think it's a game I need to play to really get a feel for it.

FFXV was good and bad at the same time. As a massive FF fan, I have high hopes but tempered expectations.

EDIT: As for Scorpio, that power sure is something, but is it necessary? I'm also quite curious as to what the price will be. For it to do/run all the things they promise...won't come cheap

Stop blaming the cameraman, the director was making those decisions. But yeah, it was truly awful.
 
It was an Xbox conference all right. All that can really be said. Very by-the-numbers and no real megatons outside of Scorpio. Eh. I do think it was weird to announce Scorpio so early, but granted that decision was probably made well before they knew Sony was holding off. We'll see though, maybe it's being played as a head-start type thing, or summat.

But for the positives, Tekken 7 finally getting a release timing was nice + Akuma looks great, happy to see more of Scalebound and hope it can be improved further, and Recore and Sea of Thieves look fun.

It's a shitty situation no matter what they do.

Announce it now and temper your sales expectations of regular PS4 for the next X months

OR

Don't announce now and have everyone who buys a ps4 feel extremely butthurt when the Neo is announced/launches.

The first option is not in their best interests and the second option is mega scummy.
 
6/10 for me, was livestreaming my reaction to Twitch and nothing made me go 'wow'. Scorpio would've been that moment if they'd shown anything of it, but ah well.

Dead Rising 4 looked like a ton of fun, but I think We Happy Few was the stand-out game for me.

'We've got a downer here!' - brilliant.

No he wasn't. He was completely wrong about the Scorpio reveal. Some guy which I thought it was you said Scorpio would have no hardware or games there and he said they would. I thought that was you I got to go look it up.

Sony won't delay. Not for that reason, anyway.

This is actually a smart move, when you think about it. Both the Neo and the Scorpio appeal to enthusiast gamers - the type that would watch E3. By doing this they stop many of those enthusiasts from getting a PS4 Neo, which gives them a fighting chance at competiting despite launching later. "You could get a Neo, but if you're interested in powerful hardware we're going to be releasing something more impressive".

They'll still get hardware sales from the non-enthusiasts who will pick up an Xbox One S, oblivious to the Scorpio, and they keep themselves in the fight against PS4 Neo.

So, do you need the XBone disc in your pc to play? I haven't had a disc drive in my PC for almost a decade. Do you just get a code to download the game? If so, couldn't you just buy the game, use the code on your pc and trade it in for max value? Not sure how all this is supposed to work.
 
Good pacing to the conference, the content was really mediocre for a mon dbox owner. They gave NO reasons to pick up an xbox one really. Everything was pc, amd from here on out every xbox game will play second fiddle to pc. One new game, but lots of games releasing this year. 7/10

Because I have my own opinion and was pleased with the conference. The only low point was the FFXV demo, but other than that, I loved all the games and am excited for them. Sorry if that bothers you.
 
A lot of the fun for these conferences are seeing exclusives. It's kind of bizarre to me that Xbox One is completely multiplat with PC now.

Is Xbox just not going to have exclusive titles at all anymore? It's so strange. Is it actually working for MS, or is it counter intuitive?

I think reactions like this are short sighted and that Microsoft considers it a platform win if you buy the game on a windows PC or on a Microsoft Xbox.

The reaction around here has been that if you can get something on a PC, that means Microsoft loses because, "lol no need for Xbox" but Microsoft is pushing this and heavily marketing it, so they clearly see this as an opportunity and business win for extending Xbox as a platform, not a box.
 
Play anywhere is huge for me. Games like Gears being crossplay so I can run it on my glorious PC but co-op with consoles so I don't leave my peasant console friends behind.

Demos for FF15 and Scalebound were... rough. Never been a fan of live gameplay demos, just show me a video of actual gameplay.

Sea of Thieves, very interested but that demo didn't show much and the people made me cringe.

State of Decay, co-op or I riot.

My favorite part of the conference was Kamiya coming up on stage and sounding bored out of his mind. You could tell that he didn't want to do this lol.
 
This year's E3 is just flat so far. Not sure if it's because everything felt leaked last week, or we are just in a lull, but that conference didn't do anything for me. Why not just hold off a year on announcingScorpio, that could kill your holiday sales. The conference just felt like a check mark on their to-do list.

Sea of Thieves, Halo Wars 2. Those are the biggest Xbox exclusives though.

If Sony doesn't announce any new exclusives and/or New IPs they should be rightfully ripped apart for their conference,
