Aside from the specs everything Phil said about the Scorpio ecosystem is exactly what the Neo would be doing.

But everyone was like "that's too much work for the devs' blah blah blah.

Now I see Colin of all people saying the Scorpio reveal was masterfully done. All the arguments should still apply.

That said apparently Sony isn't announcing Neo tonight anyway.

I would have to hear this explanation before I assume he is flip-flopping like a politician.

He may just be speaking about the PR presentation, and not that he actually all of a sudden 'seen the light'.

Then again, there is always those 5 Stages of Acceptance.

The first thing I did was check Kinda Funny for his reactions, thinking he would be upset & I was shocked. Does anyone know if spoke about the confirmation of Neo yet?

I can't believe people still think that these behemoth companies change press conferences that have been planned months in advance at the last second. The closest you get is quick videos like the infamous "How to Share a PS4 Game" video, but the conference itself will not change. At. All.

So Shinobi if you're here, please tell me this if you can.

As someone who thinks this E3 is... very tame so far... is Sony set to have significantly more hype worthy announcements? For the record, they've had my favorite conferences since around 2009 pretty consistently now, and I'm a Sony fan... but is this year even gonna touch anything from last year?

Sony just has to show up to win E3. This has been such an unexciting show. I am having a hard time staying awake. Please, Sony don't disappoint. Show me some games. Just Horizon Zero Dawn, Shenmue, Last Guardian is good enough for me. Don't talk about NEO unless it's 10 mega tera flip flops.

PS3 most powerful but lost to Wii
Xbox most powerful but lost to ps2
Dreamcast most powerful but lost to ps1

Something like that? I don't know if that's true btw, I'm guessing

I was thinking N64 to PS1 since Dreamcast was techically PS2-era.

N64 is tricking because even though it had better specs sticking to cartridges instead of CDs really gimped it in areas.

He's previously said that Sony's was the conference he was most excited about.

Yea but I'm not saying the PS4 won because it was more powerful. That's a cherry on top sure, but it's mostly because MS fucked up their reveal and they never recovered. Not to mention the PS4 was cheaper and had that insane cheap shot at the end of E3 2013 I think.

Year of dreams 2.0 always sounds funny to me because I first think of it as being an updated version of all the same stuff as last year. Although I do know what people mean.

I thought the Microsoft conference was well put together but it didn't really have anything that interested me outside of indies and maybe a few others. E3 so far has pretty much just been going through the motions, which is fine I suppose. Hoping Sony will also have a well put together conference and hopefully with some more games that jump out as exciting to me. Wasn't as big as others on their conference last year but still enjoyed it, and I think they should be in good position to put together another nice show this year too.

Also, you gotta remember that these are huge corporations, not sports teams. The goal isn't to beat Nintendo/Sony/Microsoft/whoever, it's to make decisions that further your company's long-term and short-term goals. Now, if those decisions happen to cause you to "beat" the competition, that's great, but that's not the end-goal.

PC Show is the best by far right now. Cliffy B looks way more like himself, compared to minecraft-vr-carmack.

New games, nothing AAA-level, but I haven't heard about most of them, and that is fresh for this E3.

Again, what you proposed, isn't how business works. You don't make your conference worse because the competitions wasn't good.
You're being blinded by hype. Sony wouldn't be making their conference worse. They would be reallocating their "eggs" into more logical "baskets," as opposed to what Gopher said about them "showing all that they know."

I think some of you guys are missing something here.
With Scorpio, MS is ditching the Xbox One because games that taking advantage of the Scorpio wont work on the One.
That means that MS is splitting the install base and starting a new one with the Scorpio.

From my understanding, Sony has a completly different strategy, they want to keep the PS4 install base with the Neo so every game will work on both.
So even if you take advantage of the Neo, you still have like 50m install base.

Assuming im correct, why would Sony need such a big upgrade like the one MS is going for? they have all the install base already.

If I dont make any sense, please correct me.

He said something like that he thinks that Sony might have pulled Neo out of E3 when they realized that Scorpio would be much more powerful than Neo.

Ya for sure, I agree.
Thought there are people in the Scorpio thread with the Sony are doomed rhetoric because of the comparative specs, lol

Sony should easily win best show. Microsoft show was somewhat salvaged by the hardware announcement. The games didn't look impressive outside of Forza Horizon 3 and and State Of Decay 2.

Good showings of Persona 5, Horizon, TLG, and GoW 4 would be enough for me. They have the lineup to do it, as long as they don't get caught in the typical press conference pitfalls of 30 mins of indie games already on PC, or 10 minute demos of CoD and multiplat games shown at other press conferences.

Dont want to start anything but I really think journalists etc kinda lean towards MS with a lot of things. As you see even Colin who gave Neo tons of shit thinks Scorpio is a great idea. Literally everything with Scorpio is what Neo is doing.

mostly...

Maybe if we ignore the fact that the Playstation 3 was outselling the 360 basically since release.

There are millions of sales thread every week and people still don't get the basics.

Was out of Gaf during the conference, but did ekim or dragon punch said anything about Dead Rising 4? Is is Xbox and PC only or is it coming to PS4 as well?

They're not ditching X1. They said that everything will work across X1-X1S-Scorpio.

This gen PC was the most powerful platform to PS4 and XB1.

Towards the end of that post show he began to talk about how he believes it will run into many of the same Neo will.

As a guy with a PC with a GTX 770, is there a point of buying any Xbox consoles? I could just play the Microsoft games on windows 10 right?

Probably should buy a new hardrive though
