Giant Bomb @ E3 2016 | WEED3

That was a super weird conference. It was just an hour of trailers. Most of the games look cool but that was all really weird. I was confused at times and PSVR seemed totally glossed over and then it just ended with shooting zombies... Huh.

I'm honestly fucking shocked by the lukewarm reaction here and on stream. That was fucking fantastic. By far the best conference.

I am also shocked. What did they want exactly? I mean pacing and content wise that was an amazing conference backed by an orchestra, TLG release date, Kojima on stage, I can't even list off everything.

The best announcement of E3 was Phantom Dust coming to PC and nobody even thought to put that in a conference. These are dark times.

Pretty much all the biggest news that came out of this E3 was PC related.

I feel like it's not being emphasized enough that MS totally made good on their promise to commit to PC.

Which part looked interesting? When he kept stopping for no reason to shoot at the endless swarm of zombies? None of what happened in that demo made any sense.
The bike seems to play a big part of the game, Zombies that go down quick but are plenty in number. If you look past the demo play-style and look at the mechanics they showed there this could be offer some interesting scenarios.

I'm not saying it was amazing, but straight off dismissing it completely is crazy to me.

Conference was absolutely stacked with nothing but games, in that regard great. God of war had a disappointing demo, and I'm upset about the diversion from fixed camera to maybe something less linear. Daysgone leaves a lot to be wanted, looks like an average TLoU cash in/Dead rising in not a good way. Kojima's thing is fucking bonkers and I love it.

Detroit still has mediocre Cage writing, and surprisingly COD looks interesting and cool again.

Resident Evil 7 VR is the closest we will ever get to PT and goddamn I want more of it, depending on demo impressions it seems it could be game of the show material.

Horizon, God of War, Resident Evil, Last Guardian. Everything else fell flat for me.

IMO they did a poor job at selling their VR headset. A really poor job. $400 is still a lot of money for what they're promising at launch. 50 is a big number but we all know from the Oculus and Vive launches that it'll be mostly crap and "experiences," and what they showed here wasn't great to say the least.

It's Japanese as fuck are you surprised?
It's also probably the most machismo game series out there. Each game ends with dudes on a skyrise rooftop ripping off their suitjacket and shirts, exposing their full back tattoos and beating each other the fuck up. At one point you fight off a giant Grizzly Bear with your fists. It's amazing.

Days Gone looks much more interesting than another Dead Rising rehash.

VR doesn't show well on screens. A release date is all they needed to drop tonight, and they did.

God of War 4
Horizon
Kojimas's Game
Last Guardian
Resident Evil 7
Spider Man from a competent studio
Days Gone

Good lineup of games, but as a traditional conference, seemed kind of weird. Were the Giant Bomb guys kind of depressed on it?

Glorious conference when compared with the others, if only for the orchestra only. I really dug Kojima coming out to Fury Road's theme (it's his favorite movie from 2015). I'm interested in many things they showed off but I don't know why RE7 bothers me, that's totally not what I expected from a new RE(unless it's a reboot then that's fine)

e: I did notice not everything showed gameplay so going to keep expectations in check.

It also has a shitload of reading. Dan has said before that kind of thing turns him off.
