I just love how Sony took a big risk with their show schedule and lineup, doing things we haven't seen.

* Live Orchestra playing the score for several games.

* Game, after Game, after Game, after Game, no breaks.

* Shawn Layden Makes 3 appearances (before closing), Andrew House one. That was it, no talk, no interviews, no devs talking.

* No devs talking while playing their games, at all. The live gamesplays just showed the game, nobody explaining what they were doing.

It was refreshing and unlike any conference I have seen.

Felt like a much more subdued show. Still a lot of bangers, but i sort of missed stuff like the indie showcase reels, or random stuff like the Tim Schaffer remaster announcements. Aside from EA pretty much all the conferences were like this for me. Solid across the board but nothing mind bending.

They should have cut the Batman Arkham trailer and put an actual game in that slot instead. Also that Bend game was underwhelming.

Despite that, I loved the conference.

Yeah I agree, especially was wondering where Boyes was. I will never forget him announcing FFVII last year.

Wish there was stuff from SCE Japan, like where are there games? Where's Gravity Rush 2 release date? How did Atlus not step it up and get more than half a second in the sizzle reel, which featured Igor's very long nose?

Still, every individual announcement they showed felt meaningful and important, which is great. There wasn't a big dip in quality anywhere. I actually wish there wasore people interrupting the videos every 3 or so haha

I'll give them an 8/10

Yeah. Wished we saw some gravity rush and stuff.

I am a bit torn because this new format on the other hand didn't have the usual dips. It was just game after game and no overlong demos or boring talk. I just could have used some context with some trailers at the least.

Klepeck has a point on twitter: Microsoft showed off more stuff we'll actually be playing soon. Sony's conference was mostly spectacle. Most of Sony's games won't have real release dates for a while, probably won't be out before next E3.

Which is fine. I wouldn't want a cluttered Fall as Sony if there's a $400 piece of VR hardware on the shelves I'm trying to sell. Last Guardian and the third party stuff is fine for me on my PS4 this year. Once that stuff is out of the way, 2017 is going to be a killer year to follow.

Idk, seemed to be a pretty brilliant show by Sony to me.

Look at how much is just in the montage at the end. We'll hear all about them later in the year. This conference reminded me of the one years ago when the PS2 was starting to hit its stride. Just a TON of games.

That was great! Little market speak, and nothing but games. Very unusual for a Sony conference

Kind of a middle of the road conference. There were definitely some highlights though.

- God of War looks good, I didn't like the first trilogy but this looks exceptional.

- Spider Man Sony exclusive game, as an Xbox fan this kills me but I will be more then happy to buy it for my PS4.

- Horizon is going to be awesome

- The Kojima trailer stood out as being the most WTF moment of any conference

Ok, so a few notes concerning this conference:

* The production ad execution were absolutely top-notch. The orchestra, the planning, the pacing, the demos, everything worked and flowed beautifully.

* Playstation VR looks a lot more appealing than I expected, probably because there's a heavier focus on games that look to be more than just tech demos (although the price point is definitely too high for me).

* The titles we already knew about still look great, if not even better (I'm really excited for Horizon and Detroit, and am more and more warming up to The Last Guardian).

* I was surprised by the Resident Evil VII trailer, but to be honest, we kinda knew that was coming eventually, and I'd like to see it running in action before jumping into the fray.

* The Kojima appearance was obviously a nice touch, and everything from RE VR to including Norman Reedus in Death Stranding was a delicious counter to much of the BS Konami pulled over the past 18 months.

* The Crash remakes are nice, but I never played the originals, so they're kinda inconsequential for me. A new title (or at least some footage) definitely would have made a stronger impression.

* I am suddenly finding myself in the position of wanting to get Infinite Warfare, which I did not expect.

* God of War (not 4) is real, and while it looks gorgeous, I'm sceptical of the new direction they're taking the series in. I kinda liked the more (by current standards) niche gameplay of the older games. Also, Days Gone doesn't seem all that inspired.

All in all, a very solid performance. Realistically, there's not much to complain about. My only issue is that the (in my opinion) strongest points all stemmed from previously announced titles, while the newly revealed games left me more confused than impressed. I was hoping they'd have that one big announcement that would really floor me. Nevertheless, I'll be looking forward to playing as many of these titles as possible at Gamescom.

This certainly hasn't made my back and forth between buying a PS4 now and waiting for the Neo any easier.

Wow.

I thought Microsoft's conference was good. Conservative but good, showed a solid new vision for the Xbox brand and the future of videogames. But Sony's just ran laps around Microsoft's in terms of showing games. MS still showed some great things like cross play, the new console, custom controllers, a glimpse into the next console launch... But... for actual games shown, Sony just killed it. Huge big name releases, gameplay clips from original games that look great, a decent smattering of other stuff.

Thanks for writing down my thoughts for me :)

No Man Sky not showing up once again like it always has in the past is strange as well

like they flaunted this game for YEARS and it's not on the stage leading up to it's release?

That was the best E3 conference ever, for me.
There wasn't a single thing I wasn't head over heels in love with.

Spider-Man and Resi7 got actual screams and tears of excitement from my girlfriend and I. Seeing Norman in Kojima's game had me freaking out. God of War looks fantastic.

Everything was perfect. 10/10.

Persona who has like 3 trailers already and gameplay demos up.

Atlus USA still basically has done nothing gameplay wise or footage for P5, just E3 badges basically.

Well that was a disapointing show. Lots of great games shown offcourse, but everything was so downplayed. Just trailer after trailer, not a lot of gameplay

And where were shuhei and adam?

Yeah I agree, especially was wondering where Boyes was. I will never forget him announcing FFVII last year.

9/10 + 1 additional point for the awesome orchestra. I did not think that they would be able to match last year, but I think they just did. Absolutely amazing.

Can't believe all these people saying this was a 10/10 for Sony, but that's why they are called opinions. I would say 8/10. Nothing really killed it for me. Also, I guess the Vita is a 100% dead as there were no announcements. I think a Attack on Titan was there in a montage, but that's it.

People saying the conference was not the best showing we've seen this year.

I'm surprised people thought it was a good conference. Horizon looked awesome but pretty much everything else didn't do anything for me. Last year's was more entertaining by far.

Whether you liked the games shown or not you have to admit that Sony did what we all wanted, less talk and more trailers/demo.

Andrew House was on the stage for less than a minute to introduce Kojima, and Layton was maybe on stage for no more than 5 minutes to mention VR and discuss the orlando shooting.

This is what we all wanted from a Press conference.

I hought not having GT Sport at all was a bit weird though, being confirmed for Nov 2016.

I think this was part of it for me. During the PS1/PS2 days you felt a full range of genres at E3, but it felt this year like survival shooters featuring grizzled white guys was the majority of the lineup. Which is great if you dig that, but otherwise it didn't feel like a full-course meal.

In my opinion that was a terrible conference. They showed a lot of cool games, which is great, but they didnt really have any talking hype to go with it, kind of just a long list of trailers.

Excellent games were shown, dont get me wrong, but as a conference it was kind of terrible. haha.

There are some downright terrible opinions in this thread, and this is one of them.

I hate to say it, but the news that the Crash Remasters and Skylanders were all we were getting out of Crash just ended my hype on the spot. Spider-Man still looks cool, but damn...

That said, this E3 was good overall for Sony! Almost everything shown looked great/promising! It's disappointing that Days Gone got most of the attention, though; even Infinite Warfare looked more appealing to me. But still, I'm more excited for GoW4 than I would've thought possible!

That was decent.

Horizon & Detroit look really good. God of War isn't really my thing. It looks cool, but it doesn't get me excited. Crash is whatever. I played those games when they were released and I'm not sure I want to play them again.

Holy shit, Sony just topped 2015!

Man, It was so good it made me forget there's no new Crash game and no CTR remaster

BUT

The Skylander design is pretty good!

This made it stylistically the best conference I've ever seen

Not a Sony fan, but really nice show with some awesome games. At least they tried to cater to their current player base.

Not sure some of those shown VR games will make it in those forms, but fingers crossed for you guys.

Mixed emotions. Really enjoyed the conference - it was the best by far - but there could have been some more.

Still, can't expect everything. Or RDR2.

I honestly don't know what more you want from this conference. We still have Gamescom, TGS, and PSX. All new stuff, no fluff, clearly no need to rehash older announcements

Horizon and Persona got release dates last week.

Crash was the only downer, but we're already getting great platformer games.

9.5/10
