But how??? What can Zelda even do to outshine everything???? Will it actually have player choice and a well developed story??? I keep telling you guys to keep expectations to normal. It will make looking at Zelda easier.
It doesn't need any of those. It just needs to ne a tight, well designed Zelda game with no gimmicks and that has always been enough to blow people away.
final sleep before new zelda. how exciting.
tomorrow we see female zelda and voice acting. it should be sweet.
see yall on the other side
At the end of the day you judge it based on what it is. Zelda remains a beloved franchise known to endless numbers of people even if they no longer play the game or need better incentive to buy a Nintendo console so they do play it.
You judge what they set out to do and if they accomplished it with their Nintendo flair or not. Zelda will never be Skyrim, Horizon will never be Zelda. Can they have ideas and concepts in common? sure but just because Horizon chick suddenly runs around with a Bow does not make it Zelda. Hell if anything it seems closer to Metroid Prime with a Bow with the scanning to find out info etc. People will always feel the need to defend their choices by trying to claim totally different things are somehow similar because of some superficial thing and that its better because its on their device of choice.
I'm excited for this but I will be working during the live show. I will have to watch after work. I would have taken the day off except I am already slated to fill in for someone else taking the day off!!!
Lemme ask you this, guys, before I head off to bed in 10 minutes. Are you going to judge the Zelda footage tomorrow by the standards of the other games shown at this E3, or by comparison to other Zeldas (3D Zeldas in particular).
Because I forsee different people doing one or the other and that causing massive arguments / differences in opinion.Especially if there's no voice acting.
Zelda's E3 showing will absolutely be judged by the standards of other games shown at E3, this year or prior AND how it compares to the previous 3D Zeldas.Lemme ask you this, guys, before I head off to bed in 10 minutes. If you're talking merely in the context of the games shown and not of the recent tragedy, I disagree very heavily. I absolutely adore the hyper violence in the games showings and the more violence the better! I'm the kind of person who cheered at the Doom footage last year when the chainsaw ripped the demon to pieces and laughs at Saw movies (speaking of which, I can't wait for Saw Legacy). After everything that happened yesterday and today, I'm really bummed Nintendo isn't having a Direct this year. I could really go for some lightheartedness after all that hyper violence. I would legitimately enjoy a weird Reggie skit or puppet show right now. Today gave me serious anxiety. At least we're getting Zelda stuff, though. I can't wait to see how it looks and what the major hook is. Does anyone think we'll get a subtitle?
While I agree with your overall point, I do think the bar for the adventure genre has been raised quite a bit since Skyward Sword's release (The Witcher 3, Skyrim, Xenoblade Chronicles X).
No, they aren't Zelda, but they still raised the standards and expectations that people have for open-world adventure games.
Was this 9 AM PT?

People sure love to compare Zelda to RPGs lol.

I still believe that Nintendo will announce the date of the NX reveal during E3.
I would appreciate them throwing a bone for us, would be enough for me (if Zelda holds up).I still believe that Nintendo will announce the date of the NX reveal during E3.
Didn't they announce it would be out by March 2017? I doubt we'll get an exact date this far in advance.
What time does the stream start?
Cause....that's what zelda is about right?![]()
The one thing that bothers me about this showing is that it'll be the inferior version of the game. I want to see it for the first time with the best possible visuals.![]()
The high quality overworld environments from Xenoblade Chronicles X would be nice though, it'd be neat if Nintendo pulled some Monolith staff to help with that aspect of the game.
9 AM PTWhat time does the stream start?
It's a long running thing as far as I know. Definitely not a direct they explicitly said there will be no direct this year.
Yeah. There will be jaggies tomorrow. And people will complain. And other people will needlessly defend it. It'll look good for a Wii U game imo, and NX verison will hopefully look even better. Art style looks on point. The one thing that bothers me about this showing is that it'll be the inferior version of the game. I want to see it for the first time with the best possible visuals.![]()
I hear this sometimes and it's always weird to me. I mean, I'd wager you're in dungeons for a good 3/4 of Zelda games. And then there's the pre-dungeon parts, which are puzzles themselves, since you're usually not exploring, just doing stuff to open X door. The thing is, different players consider different things as focus for Zelda games. For some people, it's about world exploration and traversal (making it similar to most RPGs), for others, it's all about puzzles (making it similar to classic Tomb Raider games).
Right...so there probably won't be a good way to experience the reveal later on?
:'(
I'm almost positive they will do a trailer at the beginning of the stream and then go right into talking about the booth and how it's all dressed up for Zelda, interviews with Aonuma and Miyamoto, etc.
I HATE Zelda puzzles or dungeons. And that's most of what you're doing... for the majority of the later 3D Zelda games. It wasn't always like that. Which is why I significantly prefer the NES Zelda games.Yeah. There will be jaggies tomorrow. And people will complain. And other people will needlessly defend it. like, if someone doesn't like puzzles, I don't see how they can like Zelda. That's most of what you're doing.
Exploration can add to it, but I can't see someone liking Zelda if that's their focus and the puzzles aren't for them. Exploration seems more like an added component.
This may sound extreme, but in mind it's like if someone said "I like FFX because of blitzball, but I don't like any of the other stuff."
My repsonses would be, "Are you sure you like FFX?"
(An arguement could be made for Wind Waker having a larger exploration component...but apparenly everyone hated the sailing in WW now lol. And then conversely Skyward had one of the smallest explorationc components, and it's the most recent. So it varies at least.)
I was mostly talking about graphics and not design. When you look at something state of the art like God of War, isn't it hard to look at something that's ostensibly last gen and be impressed? That's kind of where my head is at. When we play the game, it's still going to have that graphical look that came out a decade ago.Zelda only looks like Zelda. Show me an enviornment of Zelda you will know its Zelda. Show me an enviornment of Horizon, Days gone and God of War I bet money you cant tell the difference.
edit: I fucked up tonighy now im in arguing mode. Lets go guys!
Edit: Those 3 games look great btw, not a detractor
What you get in the Wii U version is what you'll get with the NX. I don't think Nintendo is going to go to market with two distinct versions of the same game. They'll make both versions as identical as they can. That's what I think anyway. The one thing that bothers me about this showing is that it'll be the inferior version of the game. Is the Treehouse starting with Zelda or Pokemon?

Zelda, which makes sense because they will be spending the majority of their time on that game.Is the Treehouse starting with Zelda or Pokemon?

I still play all of the games because I still consider myself a fan of the franchise and they have their moments. Besides, I want to keep my rankings list up to date as much as possible!

Apologies, I should have specified to "Modern 3D Zelda dungeons and puzzles"Which Zelda games didn't focus on puzzles and dungeons?
You nailed it!The first two Zelda games are pretty much all combat and exploration, but he did specify the NES titles. There are dungeons of course, but the dungeon design in Zelda 1 is very rudimentary while the second game is more defined by combat encounter design than puzzles or dungeon layout.

Tune in starting at 9 a.m. PT to see the Pokémon Sun and Pokémon Moon games in action, followed by the worlds first in-depth look at the new Legend of Zelda game.
