Giant Bomb @ E3 2016 | WEED3

Persons 5 looks so good in that 12 minute video.

Scalebound looked very rough. Hopefully it gets all the time it needs... maybe all the way to Holiday 2017.

I'm crestfallen to see Zelda, Horizon, Persona 5, and my most wanted games are 2017. Thankfully 2016 has been dope and will continue to be. Deus Ex 4 and Dishonored 2 in the back half of the year!

Generally I feel like people are going a bit OTT with their reactions to Zelda. Most of the new features in it were in other open-world games like 10 years ago, but they just seem fresh because Zelda was so archaic before now.

Still looks like a well-made game though, if not mind-blowing from what I've seen so far.

The same could be said for Horizon but it doesn't stop it looking incredible.

Not every game has to be groundbreaking.

The combination it what makes it unique. Nintendo quality gameplay with FarCry2 openness. An open world game with elegant mechanics instead of jank.
Plus a vista in the demo looked a lot like an old Zelda 1 artwork. Back in the days when Zelda was a state of the art exploration game. So yeah, shameless nostalgia, too.

this legend of zelda is the MGSV of zelda games

emergent gameplay

shitty story

controversy involving the portrayal(or lack thereof) of female characters

I wonder how long the after hours show will be this year. I might be remembering wrong but they seemed a little shorter last year than in years past.

Im waiting until they announce the REAL Breath of the Wild that includes the island mission where you fight Link's son and his child forces

Actually, it'd be really amazing if after like 30 years they finally make Zelda the main character in Legend of Zelda. If Capcom can do Resident Evil: Biohazard I don't see why Nintendo can't.

Overall, I'm coming a way from this E3 in a more positive light than I did last year. There are a couple games from almost every publisher that I'm looking forward to playing, though many of them aren't available until 2017.

South Park and Scalebound were among the few games that I really didn't care for, and have no interest in playing.

Hail, Timetraveller. Please tell us more about this shitty story you've seen so much of.

it's science

if a game transitions from being linear to open world, then the story suffers by that much.

That and it's most likely just a rehashed story of link saves zelda to stop ganondorf. And rehashed stories always suck.

Zelda probably won't strip to her stockings and present herself to Link so I think they'll be alright.

(I was referring to the drama already rising from lack of playable female in my last bullet point)

I came in to this E3 with really low expectations and they have been met or exceeded. Not by a ton, but it was clear this was going to be a weaker E3 than usual and I made peace with that.

Where are people getting the info that the show tonight is at 9 Eastern? Seems like it's 9 pacific, on the site everything's in pacific time for me and it says 9 pm, is this wrong?

As someone who's not so hot on open world survival games I'm really impressed with how Zelda's shaping up; especially given this is the first footage we've seen of it. The only thing I'm not sold on so far is the weapon/armour system.

I wouldn't use the word unique but I'm going to be that guy and build upon your point by comparing Nintendo to Apple in this regard. Apple rarely innovates but instead takes ideas and implement it in their own way (usually to a very high quality) and that's what I see with the new Zelda. Not a single feature on its own is particularly remarkable but you know what? Nobody else put together a fun action adventure game with these mechanics before.

I liked the fire mechanic in FarCry 2 but hated Ubisoft open world template surrounding it. Climbing isn't new but I haven't seen it implemented like this outside of a Spider-man and Grow Home.

Is it eye roll inducing when people from Nintendo and its fan react to these mechanics like they invented them? Sure. But there are many like me who are reacting to the quality of the implementation rather than the inclusion of such a feature.

Late on this but yeah, the Sony conference wasn't that great. I wouldn't say it was nearly "the worst in years" or whatever Dan said, but it wasn't that good. A bunch of vague trailers for unknown products. The Batman one was the worst offender. First of all, MORE Batman/Joker/Arkham/Rocksteady? Really? Anyway, is it a bite sized VR "experience"? Is it a full game? Is it first person?

It feels like PS VR is being sent to die. Why should I spend $400 on it, again?

Pretty thin showing of TLG, too.

The amount of just vitriol comments against the new Zelda is baffling. Do people hate Zelda games so much that they have to go out their way to point out things they don't agree with?
Does it have to be compared to every game?

I don't care for the franchise, but I don't feel like I care too much to point out things I don't like about it.

Everything is either the best or the worst thing ever for a lot of people, and they will be sure to let you know.

Aonuma's comments come off like a person who lives a make believe world. Where logic is an afterthought and good intentions reigns supreme.

Watched the Sony conference via easy allies and then watched the giant bomb archive video... lol they are such different group of guys. While EZA was just going fucking nuts over everything the giant bomb guys looked completely bored out of their minds. I'm closer to EZAs feeling about sony's conference though, I thought it was pretty amazing and well put together, very little filler and lots of games to look forward to.

For a very expensive accessory that is very close to launch, it's definitely worrying how ambiguous Sony is still being with the VR software plans. You can't just throw out big names and franchises to get attention, and then not elaborate on what we should expect - what is the scale of the game? the price? does it come with the main game?

Sony VR isn't Vive or the Rift, it's a much more consumer-friendly product so the expectation on messaging is different - they can't play it fast and loose. I really hope we start seeing a very polished offering from them soon.

No one thing that Zelda's doing is all that new, but the way they're combining those systems is blowing me the fuck away. If they can keep up these levels of interactivity and emergent stuff across that game world, it's going to be a wonderful game.

Most impressive game I've seen at the show this year, and it's not even close.

I'm really into GiantBomb's humor and general discussion on games but when they actually get to talking about type of games they like or what excites them I am like the complete opposite. it's really strange
