Zelda: Breath of the Wild is the most talked about game on social media

Also, the graph makes no claims about Zelda being best in show. It actually is by popularity, in which case, COD did not win, the graph shows it.

Read to me the second line of the graph title...."has won E3".

To be honest, though, I don't think we would have seen nearly the same result if Nintendo's focus had been Mario Party 3DS, or even Pokemon. The fact that it is a new console Zelda, that it's been talked about since 2013 and shown/teased only sporadically, and that it changes/adds many new elements to the series are big reasons it was so talked about beyond just being the focus of Nintendo's coverage so far.

Agree.

That's fair, I guess I thought different considering how big Pokémon tends to be, its tiny bar on that chart surprises me.

How vocal a fan base on forums, twitter or anything else (think football supporters some sit quietly and watch the game, some dont) is no indication of how popular something is. Pokemon maybe will outsell everything. If you like it cool.

Thats my point really, and I gave my opinion on Zelda that I thought gameplay was good but It needs the NX for I and I explained why in detail. I just got personal stuff back.

I'm happy that this game is being talked about, and generally is well received. It looks phenomenal and I can't wait to play it.

That said, I HATE that Nintendo keeps getting by on shit like this. They screw up so many things in so many ways, and then just make those one or two games that keep you saying, "well shit, well done Nintendo!"

It's like that girlfriend that you know is no good for you in life, but the sex is great.

I mean they showed what, 2 entire games at E3, pretty much killed the Wii U, support region locking, have an online system that's years behind the norm, and all kinds of other stuff. Yet here I am daydreaming about riding a horse up to a cliff, jumping off, and gliding down a bit, then using my shield like a snowboard and.....ahhh fuck!

Have you not been to the Nintendo threads the last couple months? There was enough shit to fertilize 10 acres haha.

#7: Crash Bandicoot Remastered

Beat out tons of huge names.

Hang on, Crash-Was-Never-Big-And-No-One-Cares-Or-Misses-It-GAF, I'm sure your crow will be done cooking soon.

But yeah, Zelda by a far margin. Personally thought it looked cool, but the climbing on stuff looks... off. That was my "major" complaint.

Well, if you're a Nintendo Wii U owner, or prospective NX buyer, you really have nowhere else to channel your focus; those other games aren't options.

Yeah, same. I haven't owned a Nintendo conference since SNES, I might buy a NX just for this game, but I still find it strange how we seem to anticipate and give grace to Nintendo every year, despite their previous year.
In all fairness, we don't do the same to Microsoft, for example.

That looks like a chart of international military spending.

I get it!

I didn't expect so many people to be wondering why Horizon is so low or disappointed that it's so low.

Robot dinosaurs seems like a nice hook but the in-show presentation didn't seem to really rise above anything else being shown. Maybe that's just my tastes, but those third person Sony games kind of blended together in a way,

And like others have mentioned, the meh name probably isn't helping.

It's funny how some people think that graphics are everything because games like Minecraft would've never been born with that way of thinking.
Minecraft isn't the prettiest of all games but it had creativity that captured the heart of millions of players and they had fun!
Same with Blizzard games and tons of other examples.

When you've fun, gameplay come first, not graphics.

I'd be interested to see how many of those were negative, trolls, duplicate mentions, etc.

Of course this applies to every mention for every game.

Its GAF, why not debate him on his points instead of attacking him personally or asking why he is not banned ?

Seriously, tell him why you think the game does not have dated graphics or whatever he is claiming. People dont have to be personal if someone does not like a game.

I dont go nuts and starting calling you if you dont like COD. I like COD, some hate the GAME, thats cool (except I dont like the direction this year, and COD points has me a bit salty atm)

Hand held is kind of a different sub of games I guess. But you know exactly what I mean by a console manufacturer MAJOR 3+ year big budget game.

Debate a troll? surely you jest.

Nintendo better not think the way they handled the Zelda Breath of the Wild premiere was acceptable based on this information.

The stream was god awful. Directionless, information repeated every 10 minutes, and we had to sit through a demo that repeated itself every hour only for the players to constantly switch as well so we had to sit through the same half of an hour.

The way they handled this made me have a very terrible view of Breath of the Wild even though it's probably everything I ever wanted from a Zelda game. Seriously fuck Nintendo for the stupid Treehouse bullshit. Fuck them.

I agree that it was the worst possible way to show off the game. I hated it. I loved what Sony did at their conference, by contrast.

I'm having trouble working out how much of my disappointment with Zelda is purely due to the hamfisted way it was presented and how much is because of issues with the game itself.

I'm surprised Horizon is so far down this list.

Also, Zelda's trailer has over 3.2 million views on youtube already. So that's really good.

Days Gone over Horizon is the real travesty.

Congrats to Zelda though, it looked beautiful and I'm excited to buy an NX to play it.

Thank you.

And the best Michael Pachter rebuttal of all time in my opinion ; And if only 10 % of them actually bought the console. Made me laugh anyway as its close to the bone.

Debate a troll? surely you jest.

Why ? I was being more polite but Nintendo really need a new console if they are to attract mainstream. Do you really think a casual guy that plays GTA 5, FIFA and COD only every year, passing those graphics would sit up and notice ? I did think the game play was fun, hopefully NX will raise the game.

I wasn't talking about you.

That game gonna move some NX hardware.

+Super Smash Bros NX (Presumably), a Mario launch game, whatever Retro has been working on and hopefully Nintendo has Splatoon 2 around launch window time. I'm expecting 5-10 Nintendo published at the launch of NX. Nintendo has had a lot of time to develop games during this Wii U/3DS software drought they've been developing for NX software for NX for probably 3 years now.

Third parties like Ubisoft and Square Enix are already on board without any official NX presentation so I think we'll see a healthy support from big 3rd parties for the launch and post launch.

Zelda: BotW is my game of the show. I've been absolutely blown away by everything Nintendo has shown of the game and it's IMO the first proper evolution of Zelda in the 3D realm since Zelda: OoT. This has been a great E3 software wise but Zelda stood head and shoulders above all other games IMO.

I mean, yeah, sure.

This is by far the most interesting game to me, as a spectator. And I don't own a Wii U or 3DS, and I probably won't buy an NX, and I didn't like Skyward Sword.

I'm just super curious to see what Nintendo can do with (what used to be) my favorite franchise.

Single player fun ansd focused design.

Now imagine if Nintendo could have leveraged this into attention for their upcoming console. They've got to feel this was a huge missed opportunity.

Thing is though if you step back a little, the statement is probably not far from the truth (if a little vitriolic).

I don't think anyone believes it looks a bad game but ditch the branding/circumstances and it doesn't look substantially different from some indie PC games.

I guess with Nintendo really only pushing Zelda and Pokémon for hour after hour versus minutes from other companies the marketing is having its desired effect. Whether this potential vocal minority translates to sales remains to be seen for a while yet. For people with more diverse tastes Nintendo's extremely narrow E3 offerings leaves a lot to be desired.

Wut.

On one hand yeah it suck a bit we got no NX blowout.
On the other no one wants them to reveal it when it's not ready and repeat the wii u reveal lol.

Oh god, Link from cooking subscreens fits perfectly!

LOL!!! He really does; pretty mad looking the more I look at it! I think a cooking GIF with him throwing salt into a cauldron would make for a good forum picture too!

Hopefully it gets months of use before the game gets released since we'll have more people saying it doesn't look different than "some PC indie games" and whatnot!

It doesn't seem like everything was going to plan when they announced a delay for the NX in the first place.
I would imagine their initial strategy was to demonstrate the NX and launch titles at an E3 Direct for a launch this November, with playable Zelda on the showfloor and dripfed 3DS / WiiU treehouse sessions.

In the end, whatever caused delays caused delays, and we're elft with playable Zelda showfloor and the dripfed treehouse sessions.

Look at the hysterical hyperbole in these Zelda threads, people losing their shit over a game that looks and plays like it's from 2008, and tell me who is the one smoking.

I'm actually a little embarrassed for GAF for losing it's objectivity over this game. If it was being released by Ubisoft and called The Legend of Belda it would be written off as an outdated, mediocre looking action RPG.

People's enjoyment and anticipation for this game seems to have you shaken up. You should re-evaluate your priorities.

Well deserved. I haven't paid much attention to Nintendo for awhile now and what they showed definitely got my attention. I can't believe how much visual quality they've packed into this game using Wii U hardware. Leave it to Nintendo to essentially win E3 by not having a stage show and just showcasing essentially one game in detail.

Well deserved, it's basically the Zelda game I've dreamed since Ocarina, it's going to be still a loooooooong wait though.

This is a great achievement made by Nintendo. Making everyone talk about your game is quite difficult, and even more difficult to make everyone to talk about your game in a positive way.

Well, yeah. I have no doubt Nintendo wanted to show both Zelda and the NX at E3 and only grudgingly gave it up due to real problems with the NX. I'm not suggesting they made the wrong decision. Just pointing out that the price of the NX setback is a painful one for them.

Expected and undeserved, game looks bland and derivative.

I am by no means a Zelda hater and was looking forward to seeing what Nintendo had to offer, I am flabbergasted at the reaction from GAF. People urinating themselves over a companion locked behind an Amiibo like it is some kind of extreme revolution in gaming, and claiming the graphics are incredible because there are some ok looking explosion effects. I don't think I have ever seen anything like it, all the other big games announced at E3 have had fanboys and counter-fanboys and somewhere in between is the reality, but with Zelda it's full on kool aid psychosis.

I very much doubt the paying public will share this mentality unless the NX version is significantly, significantly better across the board.

It means the combat looks simplistic and basically unchanged bar weapon durability and a simplistic stealth system that should not be considered newsworthy and enemy AI that looked extremely dense. The open world looked sparse and the ways in which you interact with it, and the new crafting system, look like something that wouldn't have been revolutionary in a PS2 title let alone a marquis game in 2016.

I am not saying it looks like trash, I'm just saying it looks extremely mediocre.

But no, apparently the fact that you can beat it without engaging in the story is enough to cause fans to defecate themselves and worthy of it's own thread.

Look at the mounted combat in Horizon. Do you see people making their own threads proclaiming it the second coming of christ because you can fire an arrow from a mount? And yet with Zelda it becomes a game of the show worthy feature.

In all honesty it's laughable.

That is absolutely right, that is what this game is, and that is why I am so disappointed. I presume that is also why the diehard fans are so incapable of being critical of what they are seeing, because they truly don't want to believe that it's possible this Zelda is not quite as amazing as they know it needs to be.

I am sure it will play well and such, but nothing shown pushes any boundary, not in art direction, not in story telling, not in graphics, not in gameplay, absolutely not in open world design (big =/= better)... And therefore I see no reason to expect this to seriously turn around Nintendo's fortunes in the mainstream gaming market. 14 year old and 30 year olds who have left the fold are probably not going to be won over by this, when it has already been surpassed on most levels by competing games released years ago. If they wanted open world, they had Witcher. If they wanted tight, fantasy-themed combat, they had Souls.

Yeah this game has that Zelda spirit but that wasn't enough for Skyward Sword, why would it be enough for this?

Watching the trailer, I was holding back tears of joy. I can't remember the last time I've felt that way seeing an upcoming game. It's so surreal to me, so I genuinely feel sorry for you. It's one thing to sit there and say "I'm not getting the hype", but it seems like you're really REALLY reaching JUST to spite people who are happy. Why can't you just shrug it off and look forward to the games YOU like?
