More than THE God of War?

It isn't a reflection of sales...it's a good for video games as a whole.Treehouse effect I assume. It's really worked well for Nintendo. Zelda's managed to offset 90% of the talk about how little they have on their plate right now.
Really sad to see how low Horizon is on there though.
And Watch Dogs 2 being up there is a travesty that I guess shows Ubi does indeed know what they're doing and I'm old and unhip, I guess. At least the soundtrack was good.
Super derivative. I'm not sure from what but I'm 100% sure it is.
Maybe Skyrim. Probably Skyrim. Definitely Skyrim.
Wait what.
Is that the stasis function used on the boulder to lock it in place and every time you hit it with the hammer the boulder gains stored energy which is released when you remove stasis?
Look at the hysterical hyperbole in these Zelda threads, people losing their shit over a game that looks and plays like it's from 2008, and tell me who is the one smoking.
I'm actually a little embarrassed for GAF for losing it's objectivity over this game. If it was being released by Ubisoft and called The Legend of Belda it would be written off as an outdated, mediocre looking action RPG.

Lol I know. I wish I could save it up, store it for the dry periods but sadly I've yet to find that function on Gaf.These threads always deliver that precious salt, I love it.

Zelda was too me, the most impressive thing there. Spiderman also looked great too, can't wait for that one. That's being made by Insomniac?
I'm surprised Horizon is so low though.
Why the hell is Horizon Zero Dawn so far down? It's one of the better things we've seen the past 2 years.

It looked terrible, but do the ad hominem, its so mature. I said why it looked bad, the pop in and LOD and the smear filter looked bad to my eyes.

We'll see if that interest carries over to the NX reveal and launch.

Makes sense when Nintendo fans have nothing else to talk about.
Is this the time that we acknowledge that, given the cards they actually had to play, Nintendo's E3 presence was pretty perfectly judged this year?
With the absence of NX, they didn't have much, but they really showed what they have very well.
Or maybe everything isn't about innovation and people just think its fun? What a concept.
It had a whole section to itself at the MS presser with a bunch of new features and a surprise endorsement from John Carmack
In this thread:

Makes sense. Nintendo has been very secretive about it, and once it showed well we knew it would be thoroughly analyzed and discussed.
Also part of it is the discussion is when will it come out and what will NX be when it comes out.
Side note: Sorry Farpoint :-(
Not surprising.
Its almost like Mario 64 all over again.
Look at the GAF thread for Horizon and compare it to Zelda's thread. Zelda even has like 3 active threads going on and the main thread is still huge.
I'm also wondering why people aren't into it. It's one of the games I'm most interested in playing that's been shown this week. Looks fantastic!
It's a new IP so the masses don't know about it like they would a Zelda. Sony also hasn't really hyped it up all that much. It takes time for a new IP to gain traction.
To be fair, Mario 64 was something never seen before.
Zelda: BotW is more like the thing we've always wanted to see and never had.
Actually kinda surprised Horizon isnt very high.
Not surprising.

Art style looks cool as hell in Horizon but i got the impression that the open world would be your ubisoft style open world, and i don't like those at all. Actually, it reminds me a bit of Shadow of mordor which i absolutely hated. Zelda looks amazing though, and there's like 3 zelda games i actually like.
That depends alot on the NX itself. We'll see if that interest carries over to the NX reveal and launch.

I don't really know Ubisoft game that make you turn off like this from them but all I could advice you is to read the recap of the features that were presented during 5 hours of gameplay yesterday.

It's weel condensed written recap so no need to browse over videos to get a resume.

It will have the biggest bunch of dungeons in a Zelda game by FARZelda deserves it. The game brings so much to the old concept that is the Legend of Zelda series. And not only that but it takes the whole open world game "genre" to a new level. And hell, it's a new Zelda afterall, it's always a big deal.
Makes sense when Nintendo fans have nothing else to talk about.
new IP
That is absolutely right, that is what this game is, and that is why I am so disappointed. I presume that is also why the diehard fans are so incapable of being critical of what they are seeing, because they truly don't want to believe that it's possible this Zelda is not quite as amazing as they know it needs to be.
I am sure it will play well and such, but nothing shown pushes any boundary, not in art direction, not in story telling, not in graphics, not in gameplay, absolutely not in open world design (big =/= better)... And therefore I see no reason to expect this to seriously turn around Nintendo's fortunes in the mainstream gaming market. 14 year old and 30 year olds who have left the fold are probably not going to be won over by this, when it has already been surpassed on most levels by competing games released years ago. If they wanted open world, they had Witcher. If they wanted tight, fantasy-themed combat, they had Souls.
Yeah this game has that Zelda spirit but that wasn't enough for Skyward Sword, why would it be enough for this?
