Breath of the Wild is the official subtitle for Zelda U/NX, first gameplay trailer

Has this been posted? "Why Zelda: Breath of the Wild is coming to Wii U and NX." http://m.ign.com/articles/2016/06/17/e3-2016-why-zelda-breath-of-the-wild-is-coming-to-wii-u-and-nx

Part of a Miyamoto and Aonuma interview. Main points/ Most interesting parts:
- The decision to make an NX version was made a while ago
- They really thought they could ship the game in 2015, but their glorious physics engine was giving them trouble
- Aonuma is more involved with the NX than he was with the Wii

I'd love if Aonuma was the driving force behind NX like Konno was with 3DS and Eguchi with Wii U.

Good stuff. I can't wait to see the NX version. Aonuma has a good vision

pls polish Zelda U. ;_;

Y'know what irks me about Wolf Link? Its front legs are so… behind. Like, right below the center of gravity. Looks like it could easily fall over to the front.

Not a single button unused, quite uncommon for Nintendo. Then again, most things about this game are.

D-Pad down is unlisted, but it's probably the whistle, as well as being context-dependent to some extent. When you're holding things for cooking, it's listed as "far" (for throwing things far, perhaps?)

I know they said no towns or villages in the E3 demo, but I wonder if that meant they actually took the towns and villages out of the demo or The Great Plateau doesn't have any?

I'm more inclined to think the Great Plateau doesn't have any besides the Old Man and/or Woodcutter (they might be the same person). I thought I caught dialogue somewhere listing it as a sacred place, and the presence of the Temple of Time and Resurrection Chamber would seem to support that.

Wasn't Miyamoto partially responsible for the physics Engine? Or just link?
Because who ever did this, did a great job

I don't know if you've read stuff I haven't, but Miyamoto was asked during Treehouse Live and said that he was pretty hands-off, but has been working a bit to make sure Link's movement and interactions with the environment are natural and smooth.

Hmm. That would make sense.

I wonder if the ruins across Great Plateau are villages that you have to restore?
I've said before I feel like maybe we won't see villages anywhere. Or maybe we'll see some small villages, but we have to grow them and make them bigger.

Man it would be cool if we had to restore villages and turn them into towns! Because I see some people complaing how "barren" the game is, but that could be what the story is and by the end of the game there will be so much more inhabitants and towns because you grew the world.

i think they are been way too dependant on the Dpad, the UI and control implementation in general is a bit messy because they abstracted the interface to Wii U Pro levels. Ok Aonuma, we understand Nintendo has now cold feet with the sub screen idea after 4 years, but why waste the Gyro (aiming excluded) if the NX controller should have some type of IMU anyway?

Magnesis for example. Once you have the object in the force field:

- Left Thumbstick = move link.
- Right Thumbstick = Move object in X/Y axis.
- Dpad Up/Down = Push/Pull item.

So is not possible to simultaneously do all three things and you need to be switching between Link's movement or pushing / pulling.

Alternatively it could be:

- Left Thumbstick = move link
- Right Thumbstick = Up/Down = Push/Pull object Right/Left = either rotate object or Move object in X axis. Whatever playtesting says is better for average person.
- Gyro = Move object in X/Y axis.

Superior in every way and much more cleaner.

Dpad is also used with Cryo Rune, to make a platform directly below Link.

One think is having the Dpad for quick selections, another is to integrate it in 3D movement control. Nintendo should be simplifying interface and button layout in general. Not making it more complex or intrusive or cumbersome.

Aonuma's remarks w/regards to how villages "work" make me feel .. similar.

You'd think he'd phrase it more as "What villages there are" or just "can't tell you about villages" if they were just basic villages.

How they work makes it sound like there's a functional gameplay element to them that's different from past games.

Its because there is a village building function in the game. Where link collects materials to make a village
Totally not true but maybe?

I have a feeling we'll see underground villages, maybe some underground interconnections as well.

did i understand right that npcs may have been removed from the demo? at least this video has a house of some kind which would feel pretty out of place if someone wasn't living there.

No, they're eyes.

I don't really understand why so much of GAF is having a hard time seeing what I thought was very clear, but clearly this is a real thing people are missing, because I've typed this out like three or four separate times already, so here:

T4yLu30.gif

It's Pig Ganon with a huge gaping mouth. The shape, volumes as they rotate, location of the temporomandibular joint, etc. are completely consistent with a massive jaw. Hopefully the trace makes it pretty clear for everyone.

Edit: I just rewatched that part and it's also worth mentioning that the guttural roaring only happens while the mouth is open.

To me it almost looks like a humanoid Ganon riding a pig. Though it could be just a pig. How wide the mouth opens seems a bit excessive to me though, that's why I think it might be 2 separate entities.

Edit: Nevermind watching the actual source it does look like 1 creature with a single mouth. Maybe a Pig Dragon, or a Gator Pig Dragon thing...Or just a Pig Ganon.

What kind of weapons and gadgets do you motherfuckers want to see

I want a giant boomerang that can fly really far and hit multiple enemies after upgrades, and be set on fire

I have the press kit of the photo and it is not that resolution. The Wii U version is 1280x720.

Have there been any comments on Zelda's role in this game?

I know, I know. She's the princess that might need saved. But any twists or turns or anything we can expect about her place in this world?

She was out there in the world, actually getting shit done with Sheik in Skyward Sword. Here's hoping she has a decent role here too.

That item popup is really worrying me as I watch more videos.

I know they only appear the first time you pick up the item (like SS), and Nintendo confirmed so. But, for me, the problem in SS was not really the message, but they fact that you had to endure them every time you loaded your saved game.

In BotW, they have pre-saved games for people and treehouse to play and the popups still appear. I mean, there's no way they got all the way there having the bombs, magnets and multiple clothing options without having picked up a single piece of food or weapon. Of course, this is a game with an active debug mode, so they could have just given the save game all the items without actually having to play the game, but I'm just assuming.

So will the popups reset in BotW when you load a saved game? I truly hope not, and if they do right now, I hope they fix that.

About the loftwing comments, where Skyward was the first in (one of) the timeline, and Aonuma talking about how this is basically "Skyward Sword 2.0" but in an open world and without motion controls, could this be a direct sequel, and this version of Ganon is the first actual Ganon form that Demise takes? I know there are the things from Windu Waka, but still.

As much of a fan I am, I'm not really into the timeline/continuity stuff as it all feels very pointless/inconsequential to me, but where Skyward is the origin story and it having a somewhat similar art style, it kind of makes me feel like this is Skyward Sword 2, chronologically speaking.

Yeah, it'll be a major problem if they pop up again after every time you load a saved game.

The good thing is that this doesn't happen in the two Zelda HD remakes on Wii U, so I'm not too worried.

Worst case scenario: fan outcry causes Nintendo to release a patch to fix the issue.

I keep watching more videos and the game just hooks into me the more I watch. It looks like a ton of fun and the mini dungeons look so comfy with their puzzles. I absolutely ADORE the fact that the voice acting is British, too.

Nintendo and Monolith still have 9 months of development left too so the game is surely only going to get better from here on.

They said on the first day it'd only happen the first time you pickup a new item, so I'm pretty sure they have fixed it.
