Deep Silver PR guy receives drugged drink at E3 party (intended for a girl)

Will Powers, PR/marketing rep of Deep Silver, says he was drugged by drinking a spiked drink intended for a girl he was hanging out with. O_O This is seriously fucked up if true. He says others might have been drugged too! I mentioned this in the E3 cringe thread but I think it deserves its own thread, honestly.

His tweets about it here: https://twitter.com/WillJPowers

And of course, Gamergate assholes like Milo and others call him a liar. Don't check the comments if you value your sanity. Will's response:

I have no words...

Saw that earlier and... yup. Fucked up is the right word.

It's sadly not uncommon, and not limited to that particular industry.

Uh, is this something you report to the police?

I think so, and I hope he does the same. This is heartbreaking and absolutely shameful behaviour. Please get well soon, Will, and I hope someone finds whoever was responsible for this. This should never happen, ever.

Terrible people are everywhere, even in the games industry, I suppose. Hopefully the douchebag who did it gets what they deserve.
Uh, is this something you report to the police?
If he knew/remembered who spiked the drink in the first place, I'd imagine he did.

Fuck the people who spiked that drink. I want them named and taken to court.

Fuck the people who defend this kind of shit. GamerGate is a disgrace to humankind as a whole.

I want to believe that this isn't exclusive to this industry and that other industries are equally shitty. I want to believe that this industry doesn't house the shittiest human beings. But I am finding it tough to believe otherwise. Holy shit.

Making no judgements either way, I'm not sure what he hopes to accomplish taking it to Twitter, thats a matter for the police.

.... Why not take it to Twitter?

Twitter is about things that happen in your life. "Someone tried to rape my friend and ending up drugging me." seems, uhh, like something that happens in your life.

What can the police do? He probably doesn't know/remember who handed him the drink or where it came from. I guess he can file a report to open a file or something, but there's not much the police can actually do about it. By posting about it online he can spread awareness to others that this can happen.

To let people know that this shit still happens and to stay vigilant.
Yep

It is called letting fellow industry people know. Police won't be able to do jack shit about it at this point.

I know several women in the Industry who will not step foot at a single E3 party because they have been targeted in such ways in the past at these parties. It is not all Industry people either though. These parties are big gatherings of anyone some PR person felt is important enough to be there

To raise awareness about not letting your drinks out of sight when you are in a party, perhaps.

Why not both?
Twitter would be a much faster way of spreading awareness. Of course, the police should be the first port of call.

It's only because you're tuned into this one. Predatory a-holes are everywhere.

Unfortunately this probably wasn't at an actual bar w/ a security system and such where they could try and track down the culprit.

Wait, how would he even benefit from lying about this? I don't understand.

What do people get out of accusing him of lying?

They might get a retweet from Milo which would be the closest thing most of these guys have to something they can put on a resume.

What the fuck?
Which E3 party?

That's what I want to know. If he knows which drink was spiked, surely he could contact the party "owners" and let them know to go through tapes(?) to find the person doing it?
