Pretty close. Here's a graph of polls from the wikipedia page. Helpfully updated just this morning!

UK_EU_referendum_polling.svg

The general consensus is all those undecided people will vote for the status quo, so you from even polls you could get a 20% swing to remain.

Dont disagree with that, I always said right from the get go, leave would need a 10 point lead to combat the status quo votes..

Just listening to old Nigel this morning it is clear he sees it as a 'reason'

We can do a Napoleon and ship the swine to St Helena.

All? I don't think that is the general consensus tbh. Usually there is a break to status quo from undecideds (undecideds that actually show up to vote, that is), and it seems like a good rule of thumb is approximately 2/3 break to status quo and 1/3 to the other side. I think allocating all the undecideds to one side is a little unrealistic.

I find John Oliver's correct most of the time but I think his appeal is bound up in two things: 1) a British accent, 2) yelling, neither of which really work on me.

I wish he'd stop the stupid shouty asides he does after making a point. He's very clever and quite witty but those are just annoying and I don't know why he does it.

Yep. 2/3 sounds about right. I've a vague feeling I posted that already this morning (you can tell it's my day off today can't you).

quaint little town, a bit like Holt but on the coast. it is one of those places where the locals want it kept as it is, so I am not surprised they are anti-eu

Everyone has that attitude in coastal towns in the UK. That's why seaside tourism went to shit, it's like travelling to the 50's.

I know quite a few people who have never voted before (be it in their 20's or over 50) who are voting in this and the majority of them are voting leave (or have already via post)... I think remain will win, but I am still cautious a bit by the ones that are fairly quiet about these things and won't show up on such polls. I imagine there's quite a few on the remain side too like this, hopefully they do go out and vote as well.
(I'm also aware that this is a very small sample etc, just a couple of handfuls in fact, but does make me wonder what it's like elsewhere)

I'm from Kent, the amount of middle-class racism is balanced by the number of said middle-class people who work in the City and thus realise how fucked we be if we leave. Will be interesting to see how it breaks down.

don't forget, we all have 6 fingers and webbed feet as well :)

We jest, but you'll be the ones laughing when global warming has flooded us all!

I've just moved to another part of Leeds and it's like an awesome little mix of things. Directly opposite is a proper English ale bar with proper English fish and chips next door. Then an Asian owned hairdressers, halal butchers, chain corner shop, family owned English bakers and Asian grocery store...

Oh, the Lib Dem working mens club behind that got converted into a pub people would actually use too

I shit you not, in the seaside town my parents live in, a bunch of people thought it was appropriate to come to the carnival in blackface and afro wigs.

Didn't get so much as a slap on the wrist

Lol, sounds exactly like where I live. I'm right by an English ale bar, which is next to an Indian snack bar, two Indian restaurants and both Polish and Asian grocery stores.

I think that's pretty much indicative of most towns in the UK, even where I am in rural Norfolk.

I mean that were both opposite the ale bar. There's only little pockets of multicultural areas like that. Where I live (Northampton) only really has a couple of streets like it.

Once you reach a certain age, you shouldn't have a say on key matters that will affect the country for decades. There's no sense in offering an 80yo the vote to remain or leave. They won't see past their own immediate needs.

What a wonderful example of a true democratic belief "hey you aren't voting the way I want you to vote so you don't get a say". It could be argued that the older generation have suffered at the hands of the EU the longest therefore they are best placed to decide whether to continue with this sham of a union.

Oh and lest we forgot that some in that age range you want to deny the right to vote on actually erm well they kinda fought for their right to have a say.

Now for something different, this is from the Daily Mail (I can already see all the remainers rushing to open a google search tab to debunk whatever I am about to post). Relax it is an advert but not from Remain or Leave :-

I went "aww that is cool of them, still voting to leave though".

Similar here. Vast majority of the town is resolutely English, but the one little back street where my shop is has Iranians, Turks, Japanese, Filipino, Greek, Australian.

I kinda love living out in Cowley for this reason at the moment. So many good places to eat apart from anything else.

I just don't see it being close come Thursday, so many people will get cold feet and the polls will be shown to have been a joke again.

£10 bet now gets you £2.20 for remain and £30 for leave.

I will be shocked if leave gets more than 45% of the vote

Yep, wasn't the economy one of the main reasons why the Conservatives performed better than expected in the General Election last year. I can't see it being different this time when the stakes are even higher.

the odds on leave are right out now, if anyone likes trading there could be some money to be made there if a poll comes out backing leave

4.5 is available now, on Friday is was 2.3

I wouldn't be betting money on a poll backing leave now, far too close to the day.

Higher odds means less likely to happen, right? That's a fast turnaround.

yes, and the move is very significant, but if you bet on betfair you can 'lay off' so if the odds come in for leave (that is the gamble) and the odds go out for remain you can then back remain to lay off your bet and lock in a profit....

No, I don't think the EU's perfect. Which human union couldn't use improvement? From friendships, marriages, families and workplaces, all the way up to political parties, governments and cultural economic unions, there will be flaws and disagreements. Because we're human. Because we're imperfect. So why bother building these ambitious alliances and communities? Because they protect and empower us, because they enable bigger and better achievements than we can manage alone. We should be proud of our enduring desire to join together, seeking better, safer, fairer lives, for ourselves and for millions of others.
I couldn't agree more.

It's nice to know they don't all hate us. Well, publically anyway.

expecting some more points at the next Eurovision now.

Haha Nissan are taking legal action against vote leave.

Context: http://www.independent.co.uk/news/u...ote-leave-campaign-over-leaflet-a7091556.html

Nissan has vowed to take legal action against the official campaign for Britain to leave the European Union after the group used the Japanese carmaker's logo in leaflets calling for voters to back Brexit on June 23.

On one "Vote Leave" flyer, the firm's logo appeared next to those of four other major companies including Unilever and fellow carmaker Vauxhall with the message: "Major employers ... have all said they'll stay in the UK whatever the result of the referendum."

Nissan, which says it would prefer Britain to remain in the EU, said it would be issuing legal proceedings on Monday in Britain's High Court to stop 'Vote Leave' from using its name and logo and to "prevent them making any further false statements and misrepresentations concerning Nissan."

They may not be the only ones either.

It comes after The Independent revealed three of the country’s largest employers had accused the official Leave campaign of “deliberately” attempting to “mislead” voters by using their logos on a taxpayer funded leaflet making the case for Brexit.

In a furious letter to Boris Johnson’s Vote Leave campaign, heads of Unilever, Airbus and GE accuse the group of using their names for “propaganda purposes” to imply their support for exit from the European Union”.

As long as the vote is In, I don't give a fuuuck. Farage will go on like a windbag about margins and unfairness and probably electoral fraud regardless, I just want to secure the nation's future.

Farage can go shout into the wind with Nicola Sturgeon.

I think the overwhelming majority of Europe doesn't hate you. Given that you guys have such a huge and widely popular music industry, maybe you guys should start sending better acts to Eurovision if you want to win :P. I mean, in recent years your entries mostly haven't been bad, but they've also been quite unremarkable.

Are you telling me there was something wrong with Scooch and Englebert Humperdinck? I'm shocked, shocked I tell you :P

There used to be moaning every year here in the Netherlands when we wouldn't even make it to the final how it was all rigged and political, and a Western country could never win. Then one year we sent a quality song and finished second in the final, which thankfully seems to have shut people up :P

I wish we had to qualify so we didn't continue to embarrass ourselves by sending absolute rubbish to compete.

How about everyone promise to give us 12 points in Eurovision next year if we stay in? Can't hurt :P

Thing is, no country in Europe wants to win Eurovision, because then they have to waste millions of Euros on hosting the next one. It's a poisoned chalice.

Which makes the decision to only select crap acts to represent your country at EV a smart financial decision. National pride be damned, we need to balance the budget!

You're saying the Swedes are so good at making pop music that they're unable to consistently field bad acts despite trying to do so?

Also, if we play Germany at any point in the Euros, they have to take a dive. That goes for Wales and NI against Germany too. Like, next group game against NI if you don't mind Germany.
