TAK3N to be prime minister 75/3

Hang on there. Here's a guy that talks ridiculous unsupported bullshit, won't listen to reason, keeps ramming his non-opinions down your throat ....

... oh yeah. Perfect candidate. Shorten those odds ;)

Could the Tories elect someone like Sarah Wollaston as leader, she's sane for a start, which helps.

Tak3n, you have some issue with teachers, you can talk about it with a professional.

Me and my SO voted 'remain' with our postal votes, but I'm happy I get to watch this hot mess from over here in Canada.

I know usually it's all talk but I've seen a few of my friends giving serious thought to moving elsewhere if the work opportunities pop up. They've had enough of the UK whether it stays in or not.

How old r u

That's what they *say*, but probably what they *mean* is "Oh yeah, I think I heard something sort of similar to that once, it must be true".

I have to thank you for this post. It really gave me a genuine moment of clarity.
I mean I've seen this happening many times in real life, but it's so common that I've actually never paused and thought about it.

Ask yourself if the German government would be happy with people embezzling funds or committing fraud or for that matter ask the many countries that are part of the EFTA would be happy if that were the case. Do you think they would not have looked into this if it were the case?

The idea that that there is some sort of systematic fraud happening in the European budget is insane.

I know it's really insane and I know the rumours are not based on reality. However I'm also interested in understanding "the other side" and where these rumours come from. It's not so much of knowing what the arguments are, but how the thought processes go.

You're not all bad then, which is more than I can say for most of that possible candidate list. Sign me up. ;)

As someone whose teacher fiancee is sat next to them on the couch right now, still marking books, anyone who doesn't want to give teachers more can go fuck themselves 👍👍👍

No links to source? What is this bullshit.

I didn't claim it was 100% accurate. I was just stimulating debate. ;-)

Banter aside, I'm going to be strangely sad when this thread comes to its natural end (assuming a Remain win). It's been an informative, bizarre, hilarious and wild ride. If Leave wins, I'll just be all-out fucking miserable.

I know people like to take the piss on long holidays, etc for teachers... But it's literally the future of our country in their hands, I don't object to paying them a good salary.

AMEN to the previous posts on teachers.

I've got some friends who are just starting out as teachers, it sounds dreadful. Sure as hell couldn't get me to do it, I can tell you that much.

I guess that's fair, keeps your mind open, prevents echo chamber.

So I as an Irish citizen would have to pay to use the NHS even though I pay tax and national insurance and as for your other fantasy stuff. Fits all you have been posting

Yup, Friday's going to be an emotive day for many people, whichever way it goes.

I still remember the day of the Scottish referendum result like it was yesterday.
I was disappointed but not surprised at the result, but I'd voted by post as I was working in Denmark for the week, and a lovely Danish fellow I was working with asked if it wasn't good that things were settled now.
I said something like, "I think after the elections next year we are going to have to fight a referendum to stay in the EU."
At first he thought I was joking and gave a little laugh, but then a look of shocked disbelief crept into his face. I'll never forget it. I hope he doesn't have that look on his face on Friday.

Haven't ORB been all over the place with polling for the referendum? I'd put YouGov well ahead of them (between the regular pollsters).

All the polls are swinging towards Remain.

Might have to get a cheeky Brewdog beer delivery in for Friday. Just in case I need a little celebration as long as none gets complacent.

I'm sure I can use it to drown my sorrows if not...

I wouldn't particularly rate YouGov all that much more than other pollsters, they're very good at polling Scotland but their general election polling last year was pretty awful, others were getting closer to the actual result.

Speaking of YouGov:

Remain: 42% (-2)
Leave: 44% (+1)
(via YouGov, online / 17 - 19 Jun)

Essentially within the margin of error of the last poll and a statistical tie. Close...

Jarvis would clear the top of that list if he chose to run.

They must convince him, then again the events of last week probably reaffirmed his decision to want to spend time with his children. Which you can't take away from the man at all.
Sure under the old procedure he would probably win the Labour leadership. But after voting for airstrikes in Syria (or accepted donations from hedge funds) he tanked his chances for the foreseeable for getting the leadership.

It's genuine bizarro world.

Corbyn & Osborne
Jeremy Clarkson & Billy Bragg
The New Statesmen & The Economist
Banks & the Unions
The United States & China

Maybe just maybe when such a wide diaspora of the social and political spectrum all agree on Remain it's the right thing to do. Maybe just maybe this thing genuinely crosses all party lines.

Make it something European. Import tariff free.

Online polls always go for Leave, but the pollsters themselves seem to think more highly of phone polling.

As for YouGov, they're not great honestly - just better than ORB. My gold standard is Ipsos MORI, but I doubt we get another poll from them before the 23rd.
