Pokémon Sun & Moon | Info and speculation thread

If Ash can face off against the Champion's strongest Pokemon how the hell are they gonna justify him choking in the league again?

Is Arceus himself gonna come down to stop Ash?

not up to the news eh?

Team Flare

there's a reason the League is being held in Lumiose City (that is just being built even, rather than the usual "this is where the league has been always done" which is usually the game place), and one of the Elite 4 being Team Flare, and that the League plot came out first before even dealing with Team Flare

also Ash will reach the finals since he's already at the semi-finals with Shota

I think Satoshi will win it this season. It's easily his strongest team ever and he can match up with Carne. Then I think he will lose against the Elite Four which will make him still feel like he isn't the Master so he will go to yet another region.

They should retire him for Red, and then go grimdark!

I really wish they would try a different protagonist. Just make him and Serena get together and let their kid be the new protagonist, with Pikachu still being alive and being with him.

Edit: If it's Team Flare interrupting I will be pissed. That's so dang typical lol. This Team Flare plot is pretty interesting though. Should have an awesome finale.

The pre-screening of the Volcanion movie should be soon, in the past these movies would have a new trailer---I remember for the Zoroark film there was a trailer for BW that revealed Patrat, plus Victini of course, and then with the Genesect film there was a trailer for XY with Trevenant in it, though it took awhile for the trailer to appear online so everyone made their own picture of how it looked lol.

If Voltorb evolves by flipping upside down to Electrode, will Electrode turn inside out if it Mega evolves?

Will it be frowning? Or will it have an even bigger shit-eating grin?

Hopefully we see a new Pokemon or two! The Trevenant sketches were fun.

Easy. The elite four/champion and the pokemon league are completely separate in the anime. Some dude who can also best the champion will be in the league and will come out of basically no where (fuck eevee dude and the kid who didn't even have enough pokemon from B/W), and it will be terrible.

what if it's Iwanko and Nekkoala? They have to appear somewhere!

in Pokefan they usually show this mysterious trainer, but they haven't, the one they are pining for is Alain

it really screams "Team Flare interrupts League, Ash fights Alain repping Team Flare while Bonnie pilots Zygarde to fight the abomination"

Hmmm posted?

New Nintendo 3DS XL Pokémon Sun & Moon Limited Edition announced:

Still not clear whether it includes game, lol.

Plus steelbox edition for software:

I dunno, on the new menu screen that shows the buff/debuffs the list is formatted kinda funny so it might be a similar case here.

Far as I can tell, this doesn't work for spacing for five given the size of the single top move:

You can only fit four moves given the size of the first and equal spacing between.

As I've been saying, where would the hold item go?

I reckon that's the 5th slot if it did fit.

From a competitive standpoint I do a lot of "well if they have move x that means they can't have move y". Adding an additional move slot opens a lot of scary possibilities. Not sure if it would shake out to be a totally negative thing but I can think of a lot of Pokemon that would become very difficult to counter if they had room for additional coverage moves.

Considering how some Pokemon have 5 moves, if that, worth using (looking at you, Mega Banette) and how, even with 5 moves, utility Pokémon like Garchomp still have plenty of counters and weaknesses, I don't see this being a balance breaking choice any more than Mega Pokemon's massive contribution to the ongoing power creep over the past few generations. That said, I sincerely doubt Game Freak would give them five, mostly because they opted out of doing so when Ruby & Sapphire. Maybe they've given each a slot for HMs so that you don't have to carry around an HM slave or fill your party's moves with (mostly) useless moves, but the best guess is on the held item being the fifth slot.

It's either a slot to show the held item, or a temporary slot for when you're learning a new move and have to decide what to delete.

Can you form a move set of four that can hit every Type for SE?

And if not, would that be possible with five moves?

I hope its not 5 moves because that would literally mean Gamefreak have gone insane or rebalanced the whole game.

4 Moveslot syndrome is an unfortunate thing but having limits is what makes things interesting. Having access to 3 free attack moveslots would bring back a ton of universal neutral coverage and make the game even more offensive when defense should be buffed in this game.

I think your line spacing is incorrect. The normal type sign doesn't go past the background multicolored lines, of which there are five. The next move would be touching or one pixel away from the other moves. Having five background lines and the one move doesn't extend past the those lines is enough evidence to assume each move is assigned a line, even if it's a bit tight.

But the last line could be for a held item, though I think the held item would be shown in the spot between the pokemon's type and health bar; it wouldn't need a big spot. The space below the switch sign is likely for mega/synchro evolution.

If it's a dedicated HM move slot, then I hope we can still give multiple HMs to slaves. Can't deal with having dedicated surfers, fliers, tree cutters, rock smashers, and waterfall jumpers.

Can you form a move set of four that can hit every Type for SE?

And if not, would that be possible with five moves?

Probably with 5 moves, but Gen 5 and 6 added moves that change the defending Pokemon's type to a specific one (Soak) or adds an additional type for a potential triple typing (Forest's Curse). Technically you could always get SE coverage but it would cost a turn which is incredibly not worth it half the time.

Probably already mentioned, but maybe the fifth slot is for an extra move that only becomes available when you use Synchro? So in other words, you'd do something special to sync with your Pokemon, and your Pokemon would gain access to an extra move in battle. In a way that could be more dramatic than a Mega Evolution!

Just a note about that 5th moveslot speculation: Even if one was just dedicated to HMs, that would certainly be a shake up to competitive Pokemon. The thing this would benefit most would be offensive Water-types. Waterfall is already the standard on physical ones, and while Scald has fallen out compared to Surf, I imagine a lot of offensive Water-types would opt for Surf if it meant extra moveslots for coverage!

I wouldn't be surprised to see some more strange, esoteric effects from it too. Like I imagine Mega Kangaskhan in Battle Spot would use Strength, which would mean the death of Return, because they'd just use Double-Edge for smashing stuff, and Strength for smacking weakened opponents (however it is a 30 BP drop when you account for stab compared to Return).

The World Hobby Fair seemed to just have Masuda doing a Route 1 playthrough, not surprising since WHF in 2013 was just a quick demonstration battle with already revealed XY Pokemon.

Seems we know according to what Joe has read on Twitter we know Yungoos evolves once and Grubbin twice, so I guess he really is the Early Bug with the cocoon form in the middle.

Oh did they actually show the Pokedex screen for Yungoos this time?
