Steam Summer Sale 2016 |OT| It's better than nothing

Hm kinda wanna replay the old Doom games and the BFG edition is $10.

Does the BFG version of Doom I and II come with separate files for modding compatibility ?

If you want to play Doom 3, grab the standard version. It's objectively better than the BFG version as there are tons of mods.

Sorry if this has been brought up already but I'm new to VR and am looking for some good VR games on sale.

Adr1ft is the only one I'm aware of at this point.

This is the messiest start to a Steam sale yet. Can't even get my fucking cards or buy a game via the app.

Thanks, Valve!

One of the things I was looking forward to the most in this sale is that it's the first sale since Steam's new "bundles" have been available. While some publishers are taking advantage of this new storefront feature, a lot haven't converted their existing package deals.

And it's great that Steam has a few curated bundles based on genres, but they're doing a really poor job of advertising them I think. Additionally, while a 10-15% extra discount is great, it's hardly enough to sway people who weren't already interested in absolutely everything included the bundle anyway.

Was anybody ever able to fix Tales of Symphonia or is it still better to just get the GCN version?
FPS is locked to 30 FPS. Internal resolution is locked to 720p, but the internal resolution can be unlocked using TSFix by Kaldaien.

A) If you want 60 FPS, then GameCube version is better.
B) If you don't care about framerate or just want PS2/PS3 version content, then Steam version is better.

How's Symphonia PC now?
Tales of Symphonia showing $7.99. Was that port ever fixed?
Is the Symphonia port better now? User reviews say it is but I'm still not sure.
It's better than it was on launch, certainly. Some problems were fixed by Bamco themselves. Other problems (except 30 FPS cap) were fixed by the modder, Kaldaien.

I don't even want to get anywhere near as obsessed with a game as I was with that clicker game last summer, so I'm kind of relieved that they don't seem to have anything.

Fuck that game was dumb

You take that back, that clicker game was the best running the script for it.

Yeah I wanna play brutal doom... Not sure you can with the bfg edition. Plus I believe brutal doom got a nice update recently. I think!

Is Dark Corners of the Earth filled with jumpscares? If it's more like Bioshock (with some added horror) then I'm all in but I'm quite a baby when it comes to jumpscares.

No not at all - more just a creepy atmosphere with a main character who is going insane a la Eternal Darkness, not really a horror game.

Wondering if I should bite on Guilty Gear Xrd SIGN for 33% off, I assume the story mode in the upcoming game this fall will be totally different? I actually get a kick out of the cheesy anime stories of these things, so I mostly play for the characters and anime action of it all.

Also, Curse N Chaos at 60% - are people into that game?

Xrd's story mode is a 4 hour non-interactive VN. It's fun enough, though, and Revelator's story mode is a direct sequel to it, so it's a decent get if you're into GG's story.

Curses N' Chaos I bought due to Indivisible, but it's really not all that fun. Within ten minutes you get pretty much all you could get out of the game. It's a single screen arena brawler, and your character's moveset are pretty limited. If you really like punching pixel-y things it might be worth a cheap buy.

As usual with these post-flash Steam sales, my experience went like this:

*nods* The Metroidvania Bundle is the perfect example for me - already have Strider, don't care about Shantae in the slightest, indifferent about Momodora right now. So, I'd be getting it for Axiom Verge and Salt & Sanctuary... Which I can buy cheaper separately.

I'm in the mood for a 2d action platformer. Both 20XX and Freedom Planet are up for sale. Any impressions around GAF to sway decisions?

Deals are kinda disappointing. Only ones I'm considering at the moment are:

- Victor Vran (75% off) for $5
- Castle in the Darkness (70% off) for $3
- 12 is better than 6 (70% off) for $3
- Broken Age (80% off) for $5

...what do you guys think? Good value?

Only played Broken Age of those games, but it's brilliant value for that kind of money. Will last you somewhere between 10-15h.

CS:GO is 50% off again.

If Civ 5 is as good as everyone says, the bundle itself should keep me occupied until the winter sale. And at 92% off, it's hard to resist.

Can somebody explain how these bundles work? I'm pretty sure before the sale started, the price of this bundle was 7,50€. Now it's 35,33€. Why?

Not sure if this applies in this case, but some developers have in the past jacked up the base price of their games during the sale just to make consumers think they are getting a really good discount.

Kind of like shopping at Kohl's.

Thinking about trying out Civilization for the first time with Civ V. Should I get the bundle with the 20 DLCs?

Yes.

The vanilla version of Civ V isn't that hot, but the complete edition is stellar. The big expansions, Gods & Kings and Brave New World, are the main DLCs to get, but the others add in more scenarios and civs.

I just bought Transformers: Devastation. That's the lowest price I've seen for it, and I've been waiting for a while to get it. But that's likely all I'll be getting based on the current discounts for games in my wish list.

It's better than nothing.

Game is great. Great story, with fantastic art direction and music. It has a reverse difficulty curve like 85% of all RPG's out there, but other than that it's a great game. There really hasn't been a bad Witcher game. Witcher 1,2, and 3 are all fantastic in different ways.

The gameplay is indefensible hot fucking GARBAGE, and I say that as someone who genuinely enjoys W3's combat. The story is disjointed, confusing, and obviously very rushed in the last act. They made a great decision in basically ignoring everything that happened in W2 when they made W3. CDPR knew they fucked up and swept all that trash under the rug.
