Steam Summer Sale 2016 |OT| It's better than nothing

Hows pillars of eternity? The only old school 90's wrpgs i've played are fallout 1 and 2. Is it like those games?
It's much better.

On a more serious note, it's played from the same perspective, but the gameplay is quite significantly different. The largest differences are probably that you control a full party of 6 characters in Pillars of Eternity, and that the combat is real-time-with-pause rather than turn-based.

Anyway, Pillars of Eternity is a really great game.

Couple questions:

Is the Resident Evil 4 PC version okay? I feel like playing through it again but not if it has tons of issues.

Is Resident Evil 6 worth playing? I've played every main RE except 6 and feel I should at least check it out. I'm a person who really enjoyed 5, if that means anything.

Thanks!

RE4 runs great. Plus the RE4HD fan made texture project is getting closer to completion. So soon it'll be even more beautiful.

RE6 is relatively entertaining trash. If that's your sort of thing.

what happens is that people buy a ton of games on Steam, and then when the sale comes around everything with a good discount is something already in their library

this leads to people going "there's nothing I even want, this sale sucks", etc.

.

A sale is just that. A sale.

By being a sale, the sale does not suck.

I'd personally rethink GTAV and W3 because i thought those games were rather lacklustre, but the rest sure are fine choices and definitely worth their price.

Surely you meant excellent games that will give you tons of hours of enjoyment, best things i purchased last year along with mgsv and ive been playing ever since.

It's not a hot new game but I figured someone might still like this, enjoy.

Cool! thx for the info!

i know that there was some noise about extra content from the ps4 version of Oxenfree (or something about extra conent) coming over to pc, has it been confirmed or not if that extra content will be a free patch or an entirely different version? the answer to this question determines if i purchase oxenfree

They just added the stuff in a free patch last month.

Has FFVI been made playable through mods yet?

There are mods to remove the default "blur" filter, but still no total sprite replacement mods. Turns out that's been way more difficult than anticipated since SE encrypted all the game data and modders are left with resorting to injection methods.

I got

Project Cars
Portal 1&2
Life is Strange 1-5
The Brookhaven Experiment
Selfie Tennis
Limbo

for 55€.

So good.

After playing through The Witness for an hour, I think I'm gonna refund. It's not bad, in fact it's excellent, but this game puzzles aren't the kind of thing I need right now.

Maybe not right now, but hopefully later? You should give this game another shot later man, it's incredible. It's my goty so far, and I don't expect anything still coming to beat it.

SO MANY GAMES !

....so ... is Divinity any good ?

its super hard if you're a newcomer, I was super excited to play it but eventually just quit when i couldn't beat a bunch of zombies hanging around outside of the first damn city. Idk if the director's cut or w/e they call it version made it more noob friendly or explains the game more tho.

They just added the stuff in a free patch last month.

thank you. will buy it later

Also how is Pillars of Eternity if I never played that type of game before?

It's GD amazing. Fantastic writing and a retro-style that's been modernized with current Quality of Life enhancements.

There's a new Easy mode that was patched in some months back if you get in over your head. Combat is Real Time With Pause and that can be a challenge for new players. But your party starts out small while you learn the ropes.

Pillars is one of the better deals for this sale.

Yup, it's like those games.

If you dug them, Pillars is a no-brainer.

Oh, absolutely, I'm adding it back to my wishlist after the game is removed from my account. It's just that I have too little patience for my own stupidity right now.

I wonder if Ubisoft is price-protecting Assassin's Creed similarly to Activision treats Call of Duty.

These AAA publishers that essentially release the same game year after year after year with mild improvements need to find a way to increase the value of their newer titles. What they have chosen to do is artificially inflate that value by increasing the price of their older titles to compensate. Where as before, a consumer may decide to purchase the significantly cheaper older games, now they may justify the newer title that is only $5-10 more expensive.

Couple questions:

How is Hyper Light Drifter? Is it super difficult in an annoying way? I love the art style, but I'm always hesitant when buying games that have a Souls-like stigma to them. I love Souls games but nothing else has nailed what makes them fun.

No, it isn't overly difficult.

Is the Resident Evil 4 PC version okay? I feel like playing through it again but not if it has tons of issues.

Ran great for me, zero issues with it.

Is Resident Evil 6 worth playing? I've played every main RE except 6 and feel I should at least check it out. I'm a person who really enjoyed 5, if that means anything.

Thanks!

Tried multiple times to play RE6 but could never get more than a couple hours in, even brought a friend in for coop and he ended up uninstalling it a couple hours in. It's the only mainline RE game I'll likely never finish.

I enjoyed 5 for what it was, I just can't do 6.

So yeah, it's kind of disappointing. Sorry if people expressing that sentiment get under your skin, but hey.

No need to feel sorry for me. I guess it's all context, of course.

Like I said earlier, expressing disappointment is fine. Being a little brat about it however, is simply unsavory to read.

All good either way.

It has been sitting in my library since the winter sale, I find it too daunting. I never played old school cRPGs so I find the character building to be confusing and I end up doing nothing with it because I don't know where to start. I really should beat my head against it soon.

All I know is they can fuck off with charging $17 for AC Rogue

Is this overkill?

$11.99 - Stardew Valley
$7.49 - Counter-Strike: Global Offensive
$50.24 - The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt Game + Expansion Pass
$35.99 - Grand Theft Auto V
$35.99 - DOOM
$17.99 - Pillars of Eternity - Hero Edition
$19.99 - Divinity: Original Sin Enhanced Edition
$7.99 - Black Mesa
$9.99 - Oxenfree
Total: $197.66
Would Pay: $180 (via Best Buy B1G1 20% off)

I'd go for it, TW3 by far the best game among those.

It's much better.

Sorry, gotta disagree with you there. PoE can't touch F2.

Pillars of Eternity has got me thinking about Divinity Original Sin. That got controller and split screen support.

Anyone got some impressions? I'd love to play some with my SO if it all works well.

#makesteamgreatagain

iirc some idiots in the Steam thread pestered him for actually posting stuff that's relevant to Steam (new releases etc) and he decided to quit

Damn, bummer.

Yeah, I was hoping that'd be cheaper. I heard good things about it in relation to Black Flag and I fucking love me some Black Flag.

I can see it being really fun with co-op and I really love the combat systems in the game but I got a decent way in and eventually stopped because the game seemed to be more about abusing mechanics (warrior picking up a barrel of oil, giving it to a rogue who stealths in the middle of an enemy pack and drops it) than it was about the classes playing how they should. I don't know, I could very well have been doing something wrong but when that game worked it felt so good but I ended up getting trounced by some later fights and the only way to overcome it was through cheese, so I fell off of it.

Maybe it was just me.

Totally. Leon, and Jake campaigns were phenomenal. I played it Co-op with my best friend so it might have added a lot more to my enjoyment, and made the flaws more forgivable. .

Coop works really well. Hardest part is having someone available for the billion hours that game can consume. If you have someone in the house who's interested then definitely go for it. Some of the best turn based gameplay in an RPG in a long time.

Anyone know if Age of Empires II: HD Edition is pretty active for online matches? and if there is matchmaking or server browser to get games together with random people online?

They removed the sale on Momodora III all-together, now.

It went from negative one penny to full price.

Meanwhile, the only two games from the Metroidvania bundle that I need are Salt and Sanctuary and the new Momodora. It brings it down to $20.

I've heard killer things about the latter. Was Salt and Sanctuary a dud? Mediocre? Awesome? Is it actually a metroidvania?

Does choosing "not interested" on games in the discovery queue affect other games in the series, or future recommendations?

For example, I own AC: Unity on XB1, so could I choose Not Interested to just not see that game any more, or would it stop recommending any other and future AC titles as well?

so how long have you been able to customize your queue?

nice to be able to kick early access games out finally

The same complaints have been going for a while, they just used to be in a different form. People amass massive libraries then struggle to find as much enthusiasm for sales periods that they used to

The reality is, their libraries have gotten huge and their actual desirable games short.

Not gonna lie...i wish Steam would do a purge and get rid of...95% of what has been added through Greenlight...and then get rid of Greenlight.

We live in an age where Bad rats has lost its meaning.
