Steam Summer Sale 2016 |OT| It's better than nothing

I really, really want to pull the trigger on Witcher III.

But I also want to be patient about it and get it at a cheaper price later.

Ugh.

To each his own but that feels like a weak reason. I mean, if you don't like that sort of gameplay I get it but they're such short sequences it doesn't seem like it should be that big of a deal.

Next time, remember:

So far I'm looking at DOOM, the Bioshock Infinite Season Pass (never played the DLC), and Dark Souls II: Scholar of the First Sin (never played this version or the DLC). Seems like a pretty lackluster sale unfortunately, even the winter sale had better stuff.

So what's the deal with the Crew Wild Run edition?

On the store page for The Crew, it advertises a Wild Run Edition, but it only contains one item which is The Crew base game with no mention of the DLC.

Yeah, it's unsurprising but this sale is rather lackluster.

Discounts are rather shallow and the only ones on my wishlist that are any decent have been on my wishlist for so long I don't even know if I care to own them at this point.

Also, why does DLC never go on a decent sale? Oh, though the White March Part II did come out this February. I just want to play a complete Pillars without having to shell out an additional $30. I already spent more than normal on its Kickstarter.

How are the Shadowrun Dragonfall and Hong Kong?

They're good. I much prefer Dragonfall over Hong Kong. Hong Kong does add some nice quality of life improvements but I didn't find it anywhere near as engaging. Took a break from it near the end and haven't had the motivation to go back and play it. But definitely grab Dragonfall.

That's surprising.

It was just recently in a Humble Bundle monthly so I was able to snag some from Gaffers for myself and family for like $5 each. Maybe check the B/S/T thread and see if anybody still has some copies?

Ah I see, so that's why it was so cheap one of those days I saw it in the B/S/T thread. Damn should have jumped on it before.

Ugh.

Just do it, man.

One of the best games ever. 109 hours in and still playing through the 2nd expansion. Just an absurd amount of good content for $50.

Actually the smart move might be just buying the main game and waiting for a sale on the expansions.

Just curious, anyone know why daily deals/flash sales were taken out? I don't remember if it was last year or the year before or the explanation why.

Its just part of the base game now, or at least it was when i got the ubi bundle...your game says the Crew but Wild run is in there too.

Is the rainbox six: siege online community dead at this point?

No, it's very much alive, plenty of people playing even at night. Takes maybe a minute (in ranked) to get a game even at like 4AM. But if you play ranked above gold, prepare to meet cheaters.

Seems like the days of the really deep discounts on the Steam store are mostly done, then.

Most of what I'm seeing right now feels like the stuff we would see in the minutes ~ hours when things were still broken and hadn't been updated to reflect the "true deal."

Perhaps that's better for developers in the end, but I know I will certainly feel far, far less tempted to buy games on whim if 20% ~ 50% discounts are the new norm. That's certainly better for me!

Fable Anniversary $5.24
Assassins Creed Rogue - 21.99
Dead Rising 3 - 14.99
Stardew Valley - 11.99
This War of Mine - 4.99
Witcher III - 24.99
Total: $84.19

Still unsure if I want to get Rogue or not, and best buy is having a sale on gamecards right?

Don't buy it. Too much for that game. I'd say $10 would be a better jumping in point.

Yes because obviously the problem with greenlight and endless vaporware / turning steam into an app store is me buying the games
Yes, it is.

Well, not really, in fact there is no problem. It's more of a solution to all the problems other so-called "curated" stores have (including Steam before the changes) that invariably games that some people would like to purchase and enjoy get omitted.

Deadly Tower of Monsters, Assault Android Cactus, and Tron 2.0 for just under $20. stoked.
I'd bought Tron 2.0 when it came out but my computer couldn't run it. totally forgot about it till I was just clicking around Steam. super stoked.

My God the Steam client is atrocious. It's 2016 and there is still not a trace of feedback once you click a button. Good grief.

Next time, remember:

Fair enough.

That's true. I forgot about those. Can you just follow/explore for the other stuff then?

Nah, there are specific times when Geralt inspects something and comments on the scent and the only thing to follow is the graphic in witcher sense mode. Hell, sometimes even finding that little item to start that thread would be impossible without witcher sense.

Tempted to grab Civilisation V, as people say its a good place to start with the series. Are the expansions worth the extra £3?

How are the Shadowrun Dragonfall and Hong Kong?

Dragonfall's excellent. The setting, the characters, the main plot and just the writing in general are all top notch. Hong Kong is a little weaker, but has more gameplay improvements.

They make it playable, so yes.

Yo

Black Flag is legit if you like pirates and shit

Much better than Risen 2 at least, the other pirate game I bought.

If anything, I would probably grab Unity as more of a graphical showpiece. The gameplay loop is too shallow for me to play legitimately either way.

Lightning Returns is an amazing game and a fitting tribute to the Goddess.

Okay... for now it stays in the cart. I'm passing on alot of things I want because despite 30% - 50% off I'm still only saving like $5 - $10. VS The Witcher complete collection (I already have TW2) for $23.00, saving like $25 - $35.

If I want Grandia II, FFVIII, Stardew Valley, Rocket League bad enough I'll buy them full price, because what's an extra $5 anyway.
