Steam Summer Sale 2016 |OT| It's better than nothing

I hope everyone is buying/playing Kentucky Route Zero, because it's widely known that KR0 is the ABSOLUTE best game on Steam.

That settled, is Armikrog actually worth it?

Would it be fair to say that with the exception of scantily clad anime trash, most games rated as "overwhelmingly positive" are probably good?

We need to do a thread of only games that achieve this rating.

From a quick look, apparently not

Overwhelmingly positive games seem to be about as good as this sale.

Unfortunately, what you see is what you get. Like the last winter sale, there are no dailies or flash sales.

I prefer this system. Having to constantly check back every few hours / each day got pretty annoying. At least now I can take one look at the games in my wishlist and know I can buy them immediately at that price without wondering if it will get a price reduction the next day or missing out on things because I am away/busy/etc

Hey guys, gimme a quick Yay or Nay on the following:

1) Doom 2016
2) Tales of Zestiria
3) Tales of Symphonia(Already beat it twice on Gamecube)
4) Grandia II
5) Resident Evil 6
6) Bioshock Infinite - Season Pass (Beat the base game, never played DLC)
7) Alien Isolation

The following are for VR:

8) Project CARS
9) Vanishing of Ethan Carter VR(Already beat it on my monitor)
10) The Gallery -Episode 1: Call of the Starseed

And the rest of us can look at the mediocre discounts and not spend a dime because the days of the flash sale impulse buy are over. It's win/win! /s

Does save data remain? Think I'm going to go for it though I'm just over 2 hours.

Edit: Going for it but I'm definitely over 2 hours ... by 2 hours lol.

Yes, saves / achievements etc etc all remain

Don't worry about being over the limit. As long as you are not abusing the system or haven't done any / rarely refund, they seem happy to make exceptions. I've made 3 refunds where I was out of the criteria in a minor way, but the refunds were granted without issue.

No complaints from me

It is funny how Steam sales have changed.

Now you don't worry about if the game will go lower at another sale. Some of them are on sale for higher!

I managed to buy Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel for $9.59 because I already owned BL1 and BL2 GotY editions, so the Triple Pack was discounted cheaper than the standalone.

This is solid advice. It looks like somehow i was missing a borderlands DLC but even with that my price is 11.08.

Edit: Looks like FRY's has it in stock for 9.99.

Here you go:

Hey guys, gimme a quick Yay or Nay on the following:

1) Doom 2016 - Nay, it is like shadow warriors. People will tell you how amazing it is but it is just shooting the same things over and over.
2) Tales of Zestiria - Nay, it is a tales game
3) Tales of Symphonia(Already beat it twice on Gamecube) - Nay, bad even for a tales game
4) Grandia II - Nay, wait for Grandia 1 to buy and not play that
5) Resident Evil 6 - Nay, it is hot garbage
6) Bioshock Infinite - Season Pass (Beat the base game, never played DLC) - Nay, season pass for a crap game? What is wrong with you?
7) Alien Isolation - Nay, it is overrated, just have a dream instead it'll have more tension.

The following are for VR:

8) Project CARS - Nay, annoying capitalisation
9) Vanishing of Ethan Carter VR(Already beat it on my monitor) - Nay, if you can beat a game with your monitor it isn't really a game
10) The Gallery -Episode 1: Call of the Starseed - Nay, to be consistent

I'm pretty sure DOOM 3 BFG was $4.99 in every other sale... but today it's $10

Thanks but no thanks. Bethesda on a roll this sale with the laugh out loud pricing.

Hey guys, gimme a quick Yay or Nay on the following:

1) Doom 2016 YAY
2) Tales of Zestiria Nay
3) Tales of Symphonia(Already beat it twice on Gamecube) Yay
4) Grandia II dunno
5) Resident Evil 6 Okay for the price
6) Bioshock Infinite - Season Pass (Beat the base game, never played DLC) I wouldn't replay it
7) Alien Isolation YAY

I don't have VR. Doom is a must get and Alien Isolation is awesome.

1) Yes get it
2) Yes It has a 60 FPS patch, and the game is overall good, but do try to stomach its anime-ness
3) Read up on fan patches and fixes first, as it is a very troubling port
4) Yes it is a good port and can be modded
5) Yes, the multiplayer is good I hear
6) Heard good things about the DLC story so do give it a shot
7) It's good but longer than it has any right to be, if you want to play a game where the Alien could kill you even at SAVE rooms, consider picking it up

Please help me hold my wallet, I was supposed to save some for the upcoming Xanadu Next and Grandia I. I just hope I can hold onto whatever I make in trading cards from the games I just bought.

Darkest Dungeon is $15 while it's been $10 before.

What's with games getting more expensive in later sales? : \

I think the reason is that Darkest Dungeon was much cheaper when it was in early access.

I've been waiting to buy Darkest Dungeon for a while now. I might pull the trigger at $15.

Also, that Metroidvania bundle is great. I already have em all (except strider) and I highly recommend grabbing that.

it's bene a while since ive bought any major games so this one will be a rough one. the one thing i dont like about this format is buying everything at once hurts more in the wallet mentally than spreading it out :\

also stardew valley motherfuckers.

Does anyone happen to know if the major issues with Disgaea PC have been patched yet? I'm thinking of getting it after all, since I'd like to see more ports of the series in the future. Heard it had a rather rough launch though (crashes, bugs, and so on), and if there's still the possibility of losing 1+ hour of progress, I'll wait.

The refund policy and publishers/indie devs wanting more profit. It sucks but unfortunately there isn't really anything a consumer can do except not buy them. If it's working for developers they won't change it. People are going to have to adapt to this.

Hey guys, gimme a quick Yay or Nay on the following:

1) Doom 2016: Its one of the best shooters in recent years I played next to Wolfenstein TNO, if you like fast old school arena type shooters then its worth it.
3) Tales of Symphonia(Already beat it twice on Gamecube): I played and enjoyed the game back when it came out on the Gamecube like you did but I haven't tried the PC Port, I think its capped at 30 FPS if that's an issue for you.
5) Resident Evil 6: I was only able to play through Leon's Campaign before I couldn't stand to play the game anymore, its sucks because the character movement gameplay is really fun but the Campaign is really hard to like and just boring.
6) Bioshock Infinite - Season Pass (Beat the base game, never played DLC): Burial at Sea episode 1 and 2 are pretty good and have a interesting story, its also really cool to play as Elizabeth in them.

That's basically my thoughts on the games I actually played.

Europa Universalis IV at 75% off is looking mighty tempting.

Is it worth paying (basically) double to get 16 items of DLC alongside it? When I've looked in the past it's seemed to me that buying the basic game might leave me feeling like I'm missing out on a bunch of content, so ...

yes. I would pay double for the dlc. I dont have much experience with EUIV DLC but if it's like Crusader Kings II then it's (usually) entirely worth it IMO.

Only bought the Neptunia games. Guess that's all for this sale.

Most of the games I wanted I already got them on GOG. So glad I can get them more cheap there thanks to regional pricing.

So here's my load:

Bioshock 2
Doom
Pac-Man 256
All the Rocket League DLC except the soundtrack
Tales of Monkey Island
Tales From The Borderlands
The Witcher 3+Expansion Pass

I have bought some wonders for less than $20. Really looking to get into Dragon Commander.

Looking at Wizardry 6-8, anyone oldschool able to say if they hold up at least decently for someone who's played little from that era? My only reference is Ultima 4 which i played at the start of this year and really enjoyed it. I especially making my own maps and keeping a notebook of clues and figuring (mostly) everything by myself. However some of the hidden walls/switches in the dungeons were ridiculous and the combat sucked pretty bad.

I know they're only $4 altogether, but I guess I'm more asking if they're worth the time investment? On a related note I'm wondering if Wizardry 1-3 are worth playing and how one would go about buying them. I couldn't find them on Steam or GoG and Amazon has them pretty expensive for 30+ year old games.

I was a few hours into W8, the sheer scope of what little I had explored in that world was astounding for a blobber, and the combat mechanics (outside of the "dont fight in the open as the enemy will surround you so fight in doorways") was pretty aces.

Does anyone have an opinion on either Warhammer 40k Deathwatch (reviews aren't great) or the Assassin's Creed Chronicles trilogy?

So here's my load:

Tales From The Borderlands
