I lurked GAF a long time before registering, but I clearly remember posters that had a certain schtick about them in the earlier days of NeoGAF.

There was of course, Drinky Crow and his iconic animated cat avatar.

I also remember a poster named Drohne, who had a penchant for trolling Nintendo. Him and Drinky would tag team threads. Drohne hid is trolls in carefully crafted and overly flowery language.

I don't remember Mr. Angry Face or The Black Stallion, although they have some notoriety.

What was the story with the latter?

I also remember a poster with a cow avatar who loved Amazon before they were cool. I forget his nickname.

There were very different posters in style and interests. Tessy is a weed loving researcher and Terry was a pretty straight laced dude who had issues with underemployment and hated most modern games.

I guess they were playing a character or characters.

Ya, I am not a fan of gimmick posters for the most part. After 11 years here, they tend to get old. Plenty of people here are funny without making up some fake persona for themselves.

How far back are we talking?

I remember Devolution was a huge deal and fought against sexism and ignorance more than anyone I've ever seen online. As far as funny posters, there was Eggman and Chinner always got me with his duck avatar and quick wit. I haven't been around long enough to remember truly old GAF, though.
