it will be remastered, but if you don't have the original DLC you wont get it.
i think it will be standalone expansion, becasue the way they are saying it,it looks it's gona be standalone game.

Minerva’s Den is not like Bioshock 2,it's another hero.

I've seen the quote but I don't know it seems like if it was going to be treated as stand alone there'd be something there but it says it's all SP content is included the addition of the "or" there probably doesn't help with the confusion, it makes it sound more like if you have one or the other you'd get the remastered Bioshock 2 even though that wouldn't make much since if you've needed Bioshock 2 to run it so IMO the logic would lead to if you already own Bioshock 2 would get Minerva's Den with it when the upgrade happens..

See this is why you can't listen to podcasts that cover interesting games. Thought I was done with the sale, but listening to Daft Souls and they were discussing this indie god game called Crest.

It sounded pretty intriguing; basically as a diety, you create commandments for your people to follow. But you know how it is with free will and man trying to interpret the will of a god. Over time, your followers may begin to twist and misinterpret your messages and edict, and you can (try to) guide them back to the proper desired path.

Is it good though?

Bought and beat Firewatch in around 3 or so hours, great game, really interesting throughout. Now I finally can answer the age old question of what is Firewatch?

Can someone confirm that the way to refund a single game from a bulk purchase is by choosing the Steam wallet option? I had issues with this once before, where everything was removed and refunded when I only selected 1 title.

Just realized the sale actually ends on July 4th. That seems odd for some reason.

Sales always end on a monday

Any thoughts on gaffer-made Castaway Paradise? Its finally cheap enough if only just to see if I cba with another animal crossing type game, but it would help if it was decent :3

I don't know anything about this game but I'm probably the biggest fan of the original Animal Crossing you'll ever meet.

That certainly looks somewhat like Animal Crossing, but I'm unconvinced that you can do all the things that are that game. Maybe I'm wrong. For $3 it's certainly worth trying out.

I'm honestly surprised at how difficult I found it to be choosing which games to purchase from this sale. I don't know if I've become particularly selective about the games I play over the past year, or if I'm just overwhelmed by all the games presented to me. Maybe a bit of both?

With $50 in my Steam wallet, I eventually purchased ESO: Tamriel Unlimited and Layers of Fear. I also bought Stardew Valley, but I ended up getting a refund of the game after playing it for a bit as I realized that it just wasn't for me. Cute game, but, yeah. Not my cup of tea. :/ I'm definitely going to look through this thread for some recommendations and hidden gems. Sales like these don't come by often; may as well spend all that $50, maybe even add some more lol.

Let me recommend Axiom Verge. This game is really well designed. Try SOMA as well.

I keep hearing good things about it. Reviews sure are positive at least

Looking at it, people keep describing it as a social game, like those you find on Facebook.

I don't know if that's generally a negative thing, but I read both the positive and the handful of negative reviews.

Hmm I thought it was a single player animal crossing type joint

Should I replay Arkham Asylum on 4K with no AA, or 1080p with 8x QMSAA?
What looks better? Blind tests seem inconclusive. The later uses roughly 30% of my GPU, while the former starts at 60-70%.

Monday has been an encore day before, it's not like the rules are that set in stone. Just seems odd for it to end on a holiday.

Hmm, I would say try 4K with no AA, if you're downsampling AA shouldn't matter as much at 4K.

I kinda wish I'd bought Elder Scrolls Online now. Every time I see it, and after playing it on Xbox One that one time, I wish I had taken the plunge. Curse you, every other Steam sale game!

I caved, guys.

In addition to my previous purchases of You Don't Know Jack: Movies, and Shadowrun: Dragonfall, I am now the proud owner of...

Alien Isolation + all DLC
South Park: The Stick of Truth + all DLC
I Have No Mouth, and I Must Scream
Harvester
Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines
DMC: Devil May Cry
Killer is Dead

Still considering grabbing Vermintide while it's cheap. Bleh, I have more than enough to play as it is though.

So uh i want to ask something to my fellow gaffers..if someone can gift me endless legend (the whole package including all the other games from them) i will give a another game next month on your wishlist. I have done this many times before and i keep my promise!

So what's everyone playing and loving that they bought from the sale?

I bought Nobunaga's Ambition on the first day of the sale. So far I've already spent 60 hours in the game, and I still can't stop playing. There are so many Daimyos and scenarios available to play, and I've only been playing the Oda clan. There's still so many scenario and gameplay possibilities that I haven't experienced. One of my best purchases of all time.

I also bought 5 other games that haven't been touched.

The sale is ending so make your purchases now! I just wanna make a few recommendations to ya'll if you are still looking for cheap games to play. (I also posted these in the hidden gems thread).

I love Transistor. Beautiful design, beautiful story, just a fantastic game all around.

header.jpg

I can't recommend Valdis Story enough. It's a completely underrated "metroidvania" great combat, great exploration.

header.jpg

A great dungeon crawler 8-bit style game blending zelda with diablo. Another way to put it would be bullet hell elements with gauntlet style gameplay. It's best to play in a group online or local for co-op. Pick this up if you have friends you need to find a new game to try with.

header.jpg

Rogue Legacy is just genuinely fun. Sidescroller style gameplay, Castle of the Winds meets wonderboy. I have played 40+ hours and I still hop on occasionally and get enjoyment out of it.

header.jpg

A mindblowing first person puzzler. I mean that with no irony. Antichamber is a brilliant way to have you mind opened to some of the under-realized possibilities in gaming.

header.jpg

If you haven't played Fez, you are missing out on an extremely fun puzzle game. It was famous for a reason.

Fantastic first person dungeon crawling. Great puzzles and solid strategic combat. I love this game. I bought it day one full price and it was completely worth it.
The Original is also fantastic. I heartily recommend both. If you are not sure about jumping in, the first game is only 3 dollars and it is quite similar to the second, with fewer bells and whistles.

I got an insane amount of entertainment out of Defender's quest. It's a tower defense with a detailed plot arc and really well thought out rpg elements. It also has fantastic quality of life settings like XP sliders and 1/8 to 16x speed control.

header.jpg

A really great Dark/Demon's souls style side scroller.

header.jpg

Cave Story is a great 2d side scroller shooter with branching paths, lots of hidden stuff to find and a high skill cap. The game requires you to be really skilled to conquer its toughest challenges but it's rewarding. If you haven't played Cave Story you are missing out on one of the first (and most important) "indie" classics.

*Adds to wishlist* That looks amazing! Definitely interested in that one!

not a fan of early access games but id recommend Squad for anyone that loves ARMA and team based gaming. its going to introduce vehicles in late july (Humvees, APCs) and its on sale for $29.99

Punch Club is pretty fun. It's a management game filled with RNG, but it has a certain charm to it. You must balance your fighter's need for sleep, food, and money while also training to become a better fighter and just in general uncovering more opportunities in the gameworld. The biggest hurdle is optimising your fighter's schedule to upkeep his skills while also learning new abilities and not bankrupting yourself in the process (which can lead to a week of downtime as you scrounge some semblance of balance back together).

The thing is, skills degrade day-to-day, and become more expensive and effective to train the higher a single one is. It is basically asking you to specialise in either strength, to be a tough fighter (when you can connect), an agile fighter that dodges everything while comboing an enemy into submission, or a stamina-based fighter than can outlast the opponent while unleashing devastating, high-stamina attacks. There's extensive ability trees that relies on certain skills.

Abilities, meanwhile, are the bread and butter of the fights themselves. These comprise in-game fighting abilities like punches or kicks, or passive talents that are active at all times, in or out of battle. The ability cost raises linearly, which makes each ability investment a difficult choice, while slowly shaping your fighter's identity. You can swap abilities out round-to-round, which gives a degree of tactics once you build up a fair amount of abilities (seeing as you'll only ever have 2-5 equipped, but potentially a dozen or more unlocked).

The fights themselves are entirely out of your control, outside of the abilities you send him in with round-to-round. It is where your fighter does his thing. It's round-based, generally 10-20 for standard fights, and also highly RNG-based, with every ability rolling some kind of die. Can be frustrating to lose, especially when unexpected matched with a tough opponent (which happens a lot) but there's a definite sense of progression as you shape your fighter's identity and hone his capabilities, eventually overcoming these tough opponents.

I can see why some people say its grindy, but that's really by design... It's why I liked Dragonball Xenoverse's method of grindiness, actually. In other words, it is training and it's really cool for a game to actually try to capture that.

Oh, and if anyone likes the Ninja Turtles, well Punch Club has some of that for y'all.

Anyways, at 75% off it's hard not to recommend Punch Club. So I will!

Never heard of the game, thanks for the heads up. Sounds really cool. I'll keep an eye on it for future sales.

If blind tests are inconclusive, I'd say pick the one that goes easier on your PC.

Good a place as any to ask I suppose.

Tried playing some Rome II Total War, and my performance is terrible in the benchmark.

Most settings cranked, aside from the foliage one which is off, 1440p.

I get as low as 15fps for the latter half of the benchmark... I see official benchmarks getting more than quadruple that framerate at 4K on Ultra.... Whats going wrong?

Good thing they give refunds for any reason.

I've bought a few games only to play them for about 2 minutes and say "What the hell is this?"

There's one thing to note about Steam trading cards if you refund just once. After your first refund, all cards will take at least 2 hours for each game before they first drop.

True...but I'll still probably convince myself to keep those games because I might want to play them "one day", even though I know deep down I'll probably never want to play them.

iirc there was a huge difference between pre and post Haswell CPU's on that game

Can't decide if I want Road to Gehena for £3 or The Witness for £22. I've finished and enjoyed Talos, but do I want more of the same?

Enough of a difference to give me 15 FPS instead of pushing 150fps?

Something seems off there..
I've had several old games that perform *WAY* under the benchmarks on my 980Ti. I think they get screwed in driver performance optimisations for more recent games. Batman Arkham Knight ran way better than Origins!! Battlefield 4 was only just hitting 60fps at 1080p in fullscreen mode, but would run at a billion fps in borderless window. Maybe try switching the window mode?
