Remember to sell, gem or badge any sales cards you have before the end. They disappear once the sale is over with.

Finally decided to add HoGs and visual novels to my "don't show in queue" list. I don't like the genres but there are a few I really like in them (I did just spend 20 hours playing Zero Time Dilemma) so I let them stay in hopes I'd find something cool. But with those I figure the cream rises to the top and tends to get fairly decent discussion so I can get alerted that way. The type of VN or HoG that I tend to actually sit through aren't going to be ones I randomly discover on the queue.

It's integrated into the main game. You can choose to explore the new areas after a moment in the quest fairly early on (being vague because of spoilers).

From what I've played, it seems to be worth it, providing you like Pillars. I've enjoyed what I've played so far, but I haven't had time to sit down and get back into it a lot yet.
yeah i should probably buy the base game by itself then and see if I like it first

I've got $9 CAD left to spend in my Steam wallet. I've bought, The Orange Box, Portal 2, Black Mesa, Shadowrun Dragonfall Directors Cut, Strife Veteran Edition and System Shock Enchanced. I'm kind of looking for less narrative experiences. Some kind of "podcast games". I want stuff that is not on, or coming to, other platforms. Any recommendations would be appreciated.

Just Cause 2 but it's on 360/ps3

"Podcast" games? Any examples so I can think on suggestions in that price range that you'd enjoy?

Red Faction was notable for it's destructible environments. The loading was abysmal. The story, music, objectives, and gunplay were average for PS2.

Five months later Halo released.

Also, why is everyone avoiding Minerva's Den like its herpes? I never finished it, but I enjoyed what I played. It's supposed to be a great DLC. I just stopped playing 2 because game would crash to desktop.

Given your selection I'm going to guess you don't have a ton of games yet so I will recommend some older games I love that are probably cheaper and don't get as much discussion these days because everyone assumes everyone has them:

Frozen Synapse
Dungeons of Dredmor
FTL
Binding of Isaac
Might and Magic: Clash of Heroes
Mark of the Ninja
Defense Grid

I haven't checked the prices but most of these were earlier sale staples that are light on plot, fairly addictive, and are probably cheap. Some have had ports, though fairly low profile ones (like Defense Grid) or only handheld / ios so you may have missed them.

Speaking of the tennis discussion that was happening earlier, I have played almost all the great tennis games that exist.

I think my favorite is probably Hot Shots Tennis: Get A Grip for the PSP.

When does discovery queue reset? Haven't got cards since yesterday but it says I've done them all for today?

I think victor vran is gonna be my first refund from this sale

it runs much worse than it should on my laptop and even though it says 40fps on medium it feels sluggish, was there an issue with frame pacing or something? The entire time I'm just thinking I could be playing diablo 3 RoS instead

Something nice to end the Steam Sale...for you! (You know, maybe.)

Clue to the mystery game:

It's actually two things in one! Two episodes of an episodic game of some kind.

I have all of those except Dungeons of Dredmor. Might look into that. Thanks.

Just to clarify my clue, yes, it's THE FIRST two episodes of THE SAME game. I wouldn't give you like episode 3 of one game and episode 5 of another game.

Hmm, I'm one card away from getting the badge a second time. Debating spending 10c to buy it or sell the other 9 cards.

I spent 20 cents, got the level 2 badge, and turned the rest into gems seeing as I can't sell them.

I am two cards away from completing the badge level 2... and I have 28 cards but no smartphone linked to the account and do not intend to link one.

I spent 20 cents, got the level 2 badge, and turned the rest into gems seeing as I can't sell them.

I will do the same since it is the last batch of cards.

There, or here.

I'll see them either way.

I've been adding a bunch of HLTB info and noticed a couple of things with the search.

The search strings don't include any punctuation like colons, apostrophes, or hyphens, which makes it unable to find certain games (e.g. Qbeh-1: The Atlas Cube, Robot Roller-Derby Disco Dodgeball, Organ Trail: Director's Cut, Tron 2.0, etc)

The names of some games on Steam are different enough from their HLTB database entries that it can't find them either (e.g. D4: Dark Dreams Don’t Die -Season One-, ENSLAVED™: Odyssey to the West™ Premium Edition, Resident Evil / biohazard HD REMASTER, Victor Vran ARPG, BlazBlue: Chronophantasma Extend, Mushihimesama, etc). Mushihimesama in particular has two entries on HLTB for some reason, one being Mushihimesama, and the other being Mushihime-sama. The former is the only one that shows up, while the majority of entries are recorded under the latter. Perhaps a way to manually link to the correct page would be beneficial here?

Finally, I noticed that the hour count doesn't show up for Europa Universalis IV. Wasn't sure if that was by design or not, given the nature of the game.

So, I finally completed Grimrock 2, but by googling I discovered there's another, true ending.
Do you know if it's possible backtrack from the final dungeon and do things in order to get the real ending after you defeat the final boss (since you need to enter a portal to proper end the game)?
Man, I spent 14 hours on it and I feel like I did nothing :S

Okay, this recommendation is going to sound really dumb, but I swear it was my podcast game for a good long while two years ago. I still need to pick up its sequel at some point, it's also supposed to be quite good and more involved than the first game but I can't say from first-hand experience.

Car Mechanic Simulator 2014. I am serious.

Someguy mystery giveaway, hidden object game confirmed.

Considering I already said "it's the first two episodes of an episodic game," unless there's an episodic hidden object game I don't know about, it can't be that.

...Come to think of it, hidden object games tend to be 2-3 hours anyway...why HASN'T anyone tried making something episodic from them?

9 confirmations though.

Eh, I've listed well over 1000 cards during this ale. 9 more isn't gonna kill me ;P

But for real, those pennies add up. Already made $83 this sale, and will probably have over $100 by the time the winter sale comes around.

How, where?

If you played Dragon Fin Soup on either PlayStation 4 or Vita, via purchase or PS+, you're entitled to a complimentary Steam key. Personally I merely tried the game out, and deleted it after a good 30 seconds or so, but since it's in my played history, I was good. They require your PSN ID to verify it.

Not sure if the offer is still active. I'd seen it on Slick Deals.

So, Half Life? ;)
