what jrpg are you playing right now ?

Too many.

But seriously, I just finished The Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky FC and have SC on hand. I also got Grandia II in the Steam sale. I have Tales of Symphonia on Steam to go through and I am looking at getting Super Mario RPG as I never fully beat it when I was younger.

Up to the last chapter in Danganronpa, then it's off to Star Ocean 5 and Genso Suikogaiden part 2. The reviews for SO5 have me a bit worried but I feel I'll find something to like about it. Need to get involved in an engrossing RPG to take my mind off things.

Playing Final Fantasy VII on PS4. Definitive version, IMO.

Loving these features right here:
3x Turbo Boost
Max HP/MP/Limit Breaks

Good stuff!

Just started Star Ocean 5. The combat feels a bit too fast paced. And many of the concepts within the game are not explained properly, but it's okay. Discovering the mechanics is part of the fun!

Finished Fire Emblem Fates Conquest earlier today, just started Birthright. (So much easier so far! Conquest was hellish to get through - which made it all the more rewarding, of course.) After that it'll be straight onto Revelations, before blitzing through DQV and DQVI before DQVII comes out on 3DS.

Finally going through the 360 JRPGs I missed starting with Blue Dragon. Finished the first disk, highlights for me are the end of marumaus village, mural valley/town and toripo is pretty cool.

The music is not so good in places and the boss battle theme is the worst in any RPG I've played and I really don't like Nene's character design.

Started Adventues of Mana the other day. I was playing Trails of Cold Steel, but this feels like a better palate cleanser before I get really invested in TOCS.

Played a bit Trails in the Sky, but the slow start ,plus the fact that I don't have much free time right now I haven't really gotten into the game right now.
I will probably get back it once my exams are over.

After playing Star Ocean 5 for about eleven hours so far. I think the game takes around five hours or so until it truly opens up the story. I am beginning to enjoy playing it much more now than I did before. Some encounters are pretty tough, and they're pretty good.

Done with Type 0 HD.

I have quite some meaty jRPG I want to play (Or re-play, in the case of Baten Kaitos Origins), but with SO5 and Night of Azure in the way, I think I'll hold on.

Probably I'll start Ys Chronicles on Vita. BoF II is another option, but I don't think I'll be able to give it the attention it needs.

Currently playing The Last Remnant and that game gives me back so much memories from Saga Frontier II. Some little things remind me of that game, from the differents countries at war, the Remnant themselves which reminiscent of the megaliths, the savage and unexplored parts of the world, the Conqueror himself (odd mix of Vayne from FFXII and
Fake Gustave
from Saga Frontier II) from the looks of it, the mix of personal and political story (the personal story sucks though lol), the open-ended style of the game, etc.

And that soundtrack... Ok the game isn't perfect. The fact that you need to optimize manually on PC by tweaking with the .ini file is a letdown. But once you nail it, the game runs pretty smoothly for the most part.

Yeah, I'm enjoying it so far! A flawed gem for sure but I think it deserved better!

Trails of Cold Steel.

It's fun, and interesting. I should go back to playing it and not distract myself with Warriors Orochi 3 Ultimate Empires.

Final Fantasy 9 just now loving it so far. Can't believe i wait this long to play it when i liked all the other Final Fantasy games.

Replaying Phantasy Star 3 for some reason. I know it's the black sheep of the series, but I have some fun memories with the game. The encounter rate seems so much worse now, and the enemy designs (monsters, not robots) have to be in the top 10 worst of all time. Just embarrassingly awful, stupid looking monsters. :) You have a muscleman thing with a stone block on his head that has an eye, and he flexes his chest to attack you. Or you have what looks like a pile of puke with peas in it bending slightly against you.

I replayed FF7, played FF1 for the first time, and started FF4.

I really loved FF7 again, that game is darling.

FF1 is an amazing and brutal jrpg, it's so hard but you kind of at least need to have a list of the spells you can learn so you can at least not ruin an entire character beyond repair.

FF4....I got to the Paladin thing and I put it down and haven't gone back. I'm just not digging FF4 like the others. It feels like I'm barely having any impact on the game. (Maybe playing the US version was a mistake?) I don't like not having control over my party makeup.

Playing FF7 for the first time. I just got to
Nanaki's town
.

I started on a big RPG kick because I got into SNES collecting a few years ago and wanted to beat all of the acclaimed RPGs on it, but that's been hard because I get attached to the series. Like I beat Earthbound and then played Mother 3 (GBA) instead of the next SNES game in my list. Likewise, I beat FFIV, V, and VI and now I want to play through VII-X and XII.

I tend to get distracted and play WRPGs/CRPGs along the way too. Currently playing Divinity: Original Sin co-op with my fiancee.

Which release of it are you playing?
Also, of the 16-bit Final Fantasy games, IV is probably my least favorite. It's still good and it's worthy of respect because it's the first one to do a real narrative, but the gameplay isn't as fun as FFV (job system) and the story/characters aren't as great as in FFVI.

Suikoden 2. I beat the first game (all stars of destiny) a good while back and immediately began playing the second one but had a bit too much turn based so took a break until now. I think games with missable collectables that relate to the story like the characters in Suikoden or Fire Emblem really inhibit my enjoyment of the games, rather than just enjoying the game I always get the itch to look and make sure i'm not missing anything. When it is items I couldn't care less but characters, I don't know why but I cant help but look. I know I'd enjoy it much more if I just experienced entirely blind.

I recently got a ps2 this past week and FFXii. So, I've been replaying that and it's fun. Gonna pickup the other final fantasy titles for ps1 and 2. Also, looking forward to picking up xenosaga and probably breath of fire: dragon quarter.

I'm playing Persona 4 Golden for the first time and I quite like it. Although I feel kinda overwhelmed by all the options right now near the beginning.

How about starting with some more Final Fantasy? FFVI, VIII, IX, X, all available on PC.

Sounds like a good idea. I've played FFX on PS2, PS3 and now PS4 so I'm quite satisfied there.

Which of the other ones do you recommend to start with? I truly adore the battle system in FFVII

Wii U has Xenoblade Chronicles X, which is more exploration-based, compared to the story driven predecessor. Still reat game, though. I'm currently playing Tokyo Mirage Sessions #FE, but if you haven't played Atlus' RPG's earlier, it could be quite a different than all those others.

Shame you do not have a 3DS, it could play Dragon Quest IV-VI and IX, too.

Start with VI. VII borrowed a lot from VI, also because FFVI is one of the best games ever made.

Thank you guys :)

I'm a few hours into Persona 4 Golden on Vita. With the exception of Pokemon, I've never been into JRPGs. But I think this might have its hooks in me.

I put about 12 hours into Star Ocean 5 over the last few days. It's not nearly as bad as the reviews make it out to be, but combat is a bit too hectic with the fast-changing camera and the 7 characters on screen at a time and all of the pyrotechnics. And I don't like how cutscenes work, it reminds me of a western game where you walk really slow while people talk to you and they are unskippable too. (SO4 handled cutscenes nicely - you can skip them and get a quick summary of events that transpired)

The worst part so far was
after escaping a lab that was set to detonate, you beam back up to the spaceship and watch the lab exploding on a monitor, and the explosion has like 2 frames of animation, instead of seeing the building blow up 'for real'
.

Still, the graphics are very nice, music is decent if you're into Sakuraba, combat can be fun in a mashy way, and upgrading skills/roles is addicting.

Got done with Pokémon Ranger: Guardian Signs today an will be speeding through .hack//Outbreak in the next day or two.

Undecided what comes after but its either Xenogears or Dragon Quest VI.

I've picked up Trails in the Sky SC again, I bought this game on release date last year and only just finally made it to chapter 3.

It's because this game is on my wife's laptop, which is my least favorite gaming device. I have grand dreams to finish this game before September and Dragon Quest VIII.

I also tried out 7th Dragon demo, it was weird. Looks like the kind of game I would buy next year when it's on sale at the eshop for $15.
