im confused why everyone keeps clicking on the link that is followed by a graphic footage warning and being shocked/regretting what they just saw

why even click the link when you know what happens

Man I'm trying to wrap my head around this shit. I saw the footage linked earlier. This doesn't seem to have been a gun fight that originated out of some dispute at the protest but rather two people with fucking sniper rifles murdering officers? Man what a tragedy. Based on the video, at least one of those shooters looked like he knew exactly what he was doing

That shooter was trained and knew what he was doing

Definitely training involved beyond simple yokels with guns. Initial attack was 3 separate shots in a sniper fashion. Once the cops took cover and tried to figure out what was going on they opened up and started spraying. They mentioned about triangulation and how they basically setup a killzone

Graphic footage? I've yet to see anything so far that is even remotely graphic. Everything thus far is blurry and shaky, which is to be expected. Confused as to why a lot of folks are up in arms about the supposed indecency of showing footage like this.

A man fucking dying on camera isn't graphic? Jesus it's not about the fidelity.

Graphic != clear display of blood and guts, ya know?

Graphic in the sense of witnessing someones brutal murder...

The area where the shooting took place. How far is it from the protest? It seems to be unrelated? And the shooter wanted to draw police to this area? It is just a coincidence that it happened during the protest?

Have you watched it? You easily see the execution after the cameraman comes back up

It's showing a human being getting murdered. Think.

Fucking disgusting. Feeling for the officers families right now. This doesn't diminish the need for reform, but can we take even a second to show some respect to murder victims who were killed while ostensibly protecting protesters?

It is interesting how my perception of watching the footage changed when I realized the man who was shot and killed was a cop and not the suspect. Not sure if that is good or bad.

You're confused? Seriously? We normally don't see real footage of a person being killed on TV.

I know that a lot of the sentiment against the Vietnam war came up because of the violent/disturbing images being broadcast to Americans on the evening news. WWII, Korea, etc. disturbing images were purposely suppressed. Images are very impactful and are hugely important to how the public forms opinions, and sanitising stories shouldn't be the default.

Yes, images are horrible, but you can just opt out and not watch TV. If you're thinking about tuning in to a news broadcast about a terrorist sniper attack on police, then watch it unblinkingly or bury your head in the sand.

Broadcast standards are literally the least important thing about a story of snipers at a protest about police, targeting police. This is the kind of stuff that happens in third-world banana republics and it just happened in the USA.

Supersonic, idiotic, disconnecting, not respecting, who would really ever wanna go and top that
Did the Fox news really show a cop getting killed live? Was it a sudden death that would be hard to cut out of a live broadcast or did they replay on to get some easy viewership? Fucked up either way

They might not have known what it showed, it's a video taken from afar and we're not 100% sure the person in the video is dead. It looks really bad though...

The shooter seemed extremely motivated. Ducking behind pillars, changing magazines quickly, running towards a police officer who was shooting at them. Shit is crazy.

CNN has been replaying it, but it's an edited version.

As a lifelong resident of Dallas right now I'm so fucking pissed off/upset. Innocent people being fucking killed left and right in this country and no one seems to really want to fix anything.

For a lot of people, watching a man be murdered is rough. As it should be.

uhhh if you are not trolling. This is an actual person getting killed. We don't know if the fallen officers' families have been notified either.
