Calm and calculated.

The composure is what stands out the most to me. This person was in a firefight with multiple police officers at the same time. And they just cruised along like it was nothing.

I mean, it's plausible to have the mindset you're going to die any second and you lose hesitation, but it is pretty suspect seeing the weave with the way they rounded the corner, and of course how they moved before and after that.

Maybe it was formerly trained. Maybe it was someone who were self trained. Maybe it was just an oddity. I guess we'll find out eventually.

Damn at that NYP picture. That reminds me of about 10 or so years ago they posted on a small city paper the pic of a guy who was shot dead on the side walk. Inside, they had a pic of just one of their shoes on the sidewalk. Crazy I thought, but here you have a bigger NYP doing it.

Is it really a strange post? In the US today, any interaction you have with the police can result in you being killed and your killer suffering no penalty besides administrative leave. If you are black, you happen to be more likely to have an interaction with police and be more likely to die from it.

These are things that affect the life of almost everyone. It's much more than a mere "inconvenience".

Police reform in this country is an important issue, and something like this, while a personal tragedy for those that know the officers killed, has the potential to be a worse tragedy for those killed in the future because police reform was pushed to the side.

the thought that this will lead to trump getting elected and real problems being exacerbated. guess what, by this happening, real problems have already been exacerbated.

There's a lot of truth in this, but unfortunately we'll learn the wrong lessons and the cycle will continue.

Caught up using the power of Twitter, wow what a ride this was.

I'm not even sure how to respond to this really, I need to read up on it more later because it's 3 AM here. Here's to hoping something even worse doesn't happen overnight.

No.

They plastered that guy's picture, it spread across the country, and they won't apologize or publicly clear them.

This is a tragedy but they still have a job to do, and their job isn't to plaster innocent people's faces and it's especially not their job to do that and not fix it.
Why are you telling me how to feel? Dude was walking around with an AR-15 like. The top comments on the original tweet are about how he is innocent. It's 3am here.

It sucks, but I'm not gonna call them "disgusting" when 5 of ther coworkers were murdered actually handling a protest the way a cuty SHOULD. It doesn't make it right, but I will cut them some slack. If that bothers you fuck off and go carry an AR15 I guess?

Let's please not make this tragedy about who might be president?

Besides, Drumpf and Clinton are both idiots in their own way. Either way America is fucked in some shape or form.

I don't want to make things political either but unfortunately, that's exactly how literally everyone is gonna turn the conversation into when America wakes up in the morning.

And that's important because the view politicians and the government has on this is important to the larger conversation that needs to happen to bring about any change.

I'm a cop. I don't think that's implied. Shame on anyone who does. I feel that Dallas PD and the BLM protest were a scheduled and unified event. The people that did this are monsters and IMO do not represent the what was supposed to take place.

Right on.

Maybe I'm wrong for thinking it's implied, but the implication of a lot of people calling it 'counterproductive' in various different words is that BLM supporters did it. This type of speculation about specific political motives is natural but not good.

Especially since video of a white unarmed kid (Dylan Noble) being killed by police was just released today and has gotten fringe groups worked up.

Do you think we'll hear anything about the identities of the shooters tonight? Or is it more likely we'll have this news in the morning (US time)?

They'll probably do another press conference sometime in the morning, too late for a conference or to release new info now, most everyone is in bed in that timezone

Posts like this are why people tweet dumb shit like All Lives Matter. You are basically saying they died and it doesn't matter. That the only tragedy is what you consider potential progress.

The guy's life is likely in very real danger right now.

Is anyone surprised this happened?
This is the eventuality of institutional slaughtering of innocent people in plain sight with impunity.

When you back a group of people into a corner, don't be surprised if they lash out.

RIP all involved.

We dont know the color of the shooters, ignorant person.

Can we stop having people justifying this out of the corner of their mouths please?

My thoughts go out to the deceased, the innocent protesters as well as Dallas PD (and the entire city), and to be honest the rest of America as well. It's incredibly heartbreaking and hard to fit into words the emotions I feel based on things that have been happening recently. In this case in particular, my own father is a police officer. This could have easily happened to him, somewhere else.

And of course it would be at a unified rally. Fuck...

We've got to stop all this violence. When will enough truly be enough?

Is that why you edited what you quoted of mine to replace Trump with Drumpf?, because you dont want to make things political?

OT: I'm just glad media is circulating the Hughes' brothers interview. Poor guy doesnt deserve to die because of vigilante justice aimed at an innocent man.

bye bye

hint: We don't even know if their actions are related at all. Even if it was the truth wrong move.

Waking up to this news in America and I am shocked and yet I'm not at the same time.

I dont know how America fixes this problem, if it actually can?

I feel for all of you right now. Stay safe and more importantly, stay together. Dont let this tear you apart.

As much as im against the events of police misuse of power in the past years. This isnt the way to lash out.

I'll reserve the rest of my thoughts until more details are known.

Its an extension on his webbrowser that does it automatically.

They're not justifying it. At least, not all of them.

They're saying they're not shocked it happened. Honestly, I'm not either and yet I still feel for the victims. You can have both, you know.

As tragic as this is, I'm honestly surprised this took so long to happen considering the events of the past few years. So this is classified as terrorism right?

One, we aren't animals in a jungle. Two, this is not backed or supported by the black community in any way, and third we should be utterly shocked at something like this.

But indeed, R.I.P to the victims

I'm not at all surprised it happened, it was almost expected but the way it happened is what struck me the most.

The execution and movement of these people.

But I also do think this was planned for a long time, unrelated to the killings the last days and when this event happened they saw a opportunity to strike.

It's a very big problem right now and I do hope both the police and civilians try and stay as calm as possible so we can avoid further escalations.

1) Gross

2) Yes I am surprised, this is the largest killing of Police officers in over a decade apparently and the last one was 9/11

This post is making assumptions about the identities of the shooters. At this point we have no idea if it was anyone "backed into a corner". It could have just as easily been a white radical fringe group that was hoping to ignite a race war. Actually, the very fact that you jumped to that conclusion speaks volumes about the assumptions people are making here. Your post reads as borderline racist (or at least bigoted). I realize you probably arent and dont intend it that way, but think about what you are implying.

Thank you to the folks that are just tuning in and AREN'T immediately jumping to conclusions on who did this since we don't actually know yet.

This. WE DONT KNOW WHO THE PERPETRATORS ARE.

Thinking this is a group lashing out instead of some insane individuals is dangerous imo. That kind of thinking will only escalate the problem.

For this to be accepted as an eventuality it should have some measure of support.

I don't know a single person who asked for this or is celebrating it's happening.

Radical white militias have been known to open fire at the cops when they enter their houses but have they ever gone out and carry out an attack as these ? This fits the pattern of an ISIS attack far better or some cartel. An awful lot of people really want this to be a militia it seems.

Man if it somehow turned out that the shooters were Asian ( it won't) you could pretty much discard 90% of the posts in this thread.

Don't know why people are jumping at conclusions and motives so quick.
As far as I know there hasn't even been a rumor of who the suspects may be?

My condolences to the victims and their families. I can't imagine what they're going through right at this moment.

I need to go to bed. I keep refreshing trumps twitter. Rip to the fallen officers. See you all at the shit storm tomorrow. I knew this was coming. Our nation has some serious issues that need to be resolved tomorrow before retaliation goes full.

If our government does fuck all, I don't know what else to say.

Edit: isis? Come on. They would have blown up everyone.

It's wise to not make any judgements on why this happened yet. We have no idea of the identities of the shooters and even when we do, we should wait for more information.

However, I would say that anti-police sentiment has been growing wildly in America, and it's not unique to black people. That's why I'm not surprised. Since we know nothing about the shooters it's pointless to hypothesize, but given the madness in America recently, it's not above any group of assholes to take advantage of an already awful situation and make it far worse.

When I say I'm not shocked this happened, it has more to do with the nations ideas on law enforcement evolving and growing more hostile regardless of race. Eventually things are going to bubble up and madness will take over. And if you've been paying attention to America in 2016, madness has definitely taken over.
