From the press conference: The dead shooter didn't kill himself, he was killed by a bomb detonation. That shooter said he was upset about BLM and wanted to kill white police officers.



...fucking hell.

We were mainly in Lagos and Kogi, although I did spend a brief time in Kaduna (as some family on my father's side resided there).

My aunts house was robbed years before I was born during a blackout, so that nervousness spread among us. It hasn't happened since though.

Anyway, I'm finished talking about it in this thread. It really isn't the place.

This isnt the way to get things done. You dont fight senseless violence with more senseless violence. Now whoever shot these individuals has set now potentially set these five families down a path of revenge. These people think they may have been try to "solve" things and now may have just ended up making things worse. I cant even imagine the gut-wrenching anger these families must be going through right now.

Does anyone know where to find any of the news footage from when it first happened?

When it all broke out there was a news team live in the middle of the crowd and it looked crazy. I haven't seen the footage since then.

Acts like this is only going to make matters worse... Anyone remember the effect the North Hollywood shootout had on law enforcement? Its impact has played a sizable role in what's happened in the last 20 years of further police militarization.

Labeling these acts under an umbrella term (brown, white, black, Muslim, etc) does no good. The act was terrible in itself. Let's just leave it at that and try to heal wounds.

Bro I read and was like wtf is this nonsense but then again maybe he just lived in a really bad place (my experience is based on Lagos solely) but none of what he posted is compatible with my personal experience of growing up in Nigeria and after the events of the last days seriously considering having my children go there for high school to avoid being dead before they're ready for college by a random encounter with some trigger happy policeman.

Bomb defusing exploding robot is a bit cool though.

My guess is that they were sweeping the area with robots to perform controlled detonations (which are basically just bombs anyway) if they found anything and someone thought "Hey, how about we send in HAL-3000 so no other people have to take a risk?"

Hahaha, that shit aint common. First time am hearing this shit. Seems black people (good chance its a black dude) get extreme measures in everything, though i aint complaining, Dead is dead, he cant hurt anyone else but still, blowing the dude up? fuck.

Could they not have used gas or some non-lethal means of incapacitating him without putting themselves at risk?

A bomb on a robot....just seems crazy.
