Pokémon Go |OT| As in "Go Outside"

This game is my new found addiction

That said living in a somewhat rural area blows because there are like none of those checkpoint things nearby :-(

Sorry if this has already been asked but did this game really not include a quick launch feature? Every time I go into the app, it takes me to the first screen and then the loading page. That's really frustrating considering pretty much all games have a quick launch by now when you go back into it

So Pokemon get harder to catch as you level increasing the chances of you wasting pokeballs and needing to buy them from the shop?

You can just use some razz berries to make things easier. The game hands them out like condoms on prom night.

One day we're just gonna have AR implanted in our brain.

What's everyone's pokadex at? 59 currently.

I haven;t been able to get out today because it's raining. If it doesn't let up in a few hours I'm going out anyway. I need to hatch some eggs and see if the Pokemon around here change at night.

Why so many drowzees

Man battling has been really frustrating the past few days. i have had no other connection issues, but when i battle it just lags out and never ends the fight eve though I beat the other pokemon.

I don't seem to have that problem when battling my own gyms, only when I battle other gyms.

52 on my pokedex. Just got a 900 CP Electabuzz from an egg with enough candies to max him at my level (1113)! I was hoping he would be super effective against flying and even though it says he is, it didn't seem like he was doing that much to the Pidgeot that was only level 700. It still took half my life before I beat it (although it lagged out on me)

Edit::
...just saw that Electrabuzz main move only does 5 damage :|

Walking around a shopping mall near New Orleans, LA. It seems like out of every person you see staring down at a phone 80% of then seem times be playing Pokémon Go. So bonkers.

And there's no limit to who is playing. All ages, races, genders...

my phone and its shitty gps (lg g5) has me about to uninstall the game, which is sad bc i really enjoy it.
That's interesting to hear because I have the V10 and I've been wishing I had the g5 so I could feel more badass when switching batteries in the field :lol

i wouldnt if you enjoy this game, read tons of forums about how inaccurate the gps is. its usually 2 streets off for me.

So does a Pokemon just show up wherever you have the phone pointed? So far, it seems like it doesn't really matter exactly where it shows up on the map in relation to me (if I'm near it)...if I have the phone pointed the opposite direction, the Pokemon seems to be where the phone is pointed.

pretty much, if the pokemon is on the screen just tap it and it will appear in a battle ready to be caught, no need to actually run up to it.

Is there a level cap, or a level at which the CP of Pokemon plateaus? Otherwise it feels like more casual players get shit on, and I say this as someone who has sunk a decent amount of time into the game.

Maaaan there's literally no stops or gyms in the mall here, it's bizarre, really hope they beef up the number of stops once it officially lands in Canada

Sounds like your phone doesn't have enough memory (RAM) to hold the game and whatever you are switching to.
When you switch from an app to the home screen or another app, it isn't closed, it gets suspended and kept in memory. Unless there isn't enough memory for it + whatever you are switching to. Then it gets closed, so it will have to be loaded again when you switch back to it.

OH shit I Just had the "Are you playing Pokemon GO" experience

I was running around and noticed the Pokestop near me and a Chicken and BBQ place was a gym (LOL they had a Pidgeotto as their gym leader).

As soon as I got there, Team Valor had that shit locked up tighter than Fort Knox

So I did the right thing

I JOINED TEAM VALOR

YEAHHHHHHHHHHH

i finally realized the awesomeness of PokeGo today. went downtown to have lunch with friends, saw a lure at a fountain a block away. this was the first time ive used it outside of my neighborhood. there were about 15 people haning out catching, talking stratrgies etc...

after lunch me and my two buddies walk to the river because we see a gym at the suspension bridge. we take the gym(go instinct!) and people just start trying to take it over. when we finally left there were at least ten people destroying us. damn team blue bastards!

so we walk down the river a bit and come across a meca of lured pokestops at all the monuments, like 6 stops in close proximity. at least 40 people walkig around, chillin and then we notice a line of cars had approached on the side of the road with everyone in their cars glued to their phones. it was a really cool experience, we were yelling out when a pokemon appeared further away...exchanging tips, people were explaining the more intricate things of the game to eachother.

very freaking cool. only bad thing is its 100 degrees outside and i didnt wear sunscreen

so this game just murdered my Nexus 5X.

walked around a shopping center with my wife a bit. caught some pokemons and visited a bunch of posts, and noticed my phone was getting really hot and the battery was draining super fast. got into my car to go home and connected my charger. phone getting hotter.

15 minutes later i get home and my battery didn't get any charge on the way back. connected it to a wall charger and no charging indicator came on. phone still really hot. rebooted my phone and connected it to a much nice USB-C to USB-C charger and it said it was charging. less than a minute later i check to see if it was "charging rapidly" or not, and when i touched the cable next to the charging port it burned my finger. phone was blazing hot and so i turned it off.

after it cooled off i noticed a burning smell, and looked into the charging port with a flashlight. melted plastic. AWESOME. my chargers and cables are all proper USB-C and rated for those specs. no crappy budget stuff here. i've also used my GPS out and about plenty times before, and although my phone would get a little warm, nothing this extreme, and no battery drain near this bad.

waiting to hear back from Google if they'll replace it or not since i have the protection on it till next year. :(

That switch will work for about an hour but after that, it tends to close completely. Strange

This is ridiculous. My son has been trying to create a PTC account since yesterday morning and it keeps giving in the "Too many people yadda yadda yadda" message. When will they allow new people to join in the fun?

I've walked 5 miles today and only caught two pokemon cause the game keeps bugging out me whenever the ball's in process of capturing.
I'm on iOS and mine has bugged out more than a few times when trying to capture right before the "Gotcha" comes up, but when I log back in, I always have the Pokemon.
