Pokémon Go |OT| As in "Go Outside"

lol. just as an experiment I dropped a lure at a close pokestop to me. It's convenient for me but it's kind of a non-notable spot, just a fountain at a nothing intersection right out in the sun. I brought some lemonade and beach umbrella, figured I could just chill there and beat the heat a bit and catch some stuff even if nobody showed up.

Within 10 minutes a family of four who was shopping near by ran up, "we saw the Lure and just had to come over before we left, was it you??" They chill with me for the remaining 20 minutes on the spot, got a couple Eevees and Oddishes. The teenage son is worried that people passing by at the intersection are staring and judging us. I tell him they're probably just jealous they can't get out and catch stuff too.

Another dude rolls up. He thanks me for the lure, and wants to stay and chill but he's tracking a Bulbasaur. It went from two to three prints when he got to the stop so it must be back that way. I wish him luck.

This is unreal

So after trying the beta for 5 minutes and dismissing the game when it first came out, I've been in for 2 days. Been walking 3 miles a day and gotten a few decent Pokemon so far.

Any tips on fighting? I tried yesterday and got demolished. Tried another gym and did slightly better. Figured out tapping does an attack and not swiping up and down like I thought the day before. Is there anyway to use both moves or is it just random?
There's a bar that fills up as you do tapping attacks. Once one of the bars fill up hold on the screen and second attack will happen. Remember you can dodge to avoid enemie attacks.

Holy crap and i think google takes a bit to update so that number may be even higher.

If you consider that
* there's a delay
* it's somewhere between 5 and 10 million
* it's gaining pace really fast
* it's Android alone, iOS would usually be a bigger multiple of downloads

What on earth is the current actual number of downloads! And actual ones, not estimates from third parties (like the one saying it's bigger than Tinder).

Thats Pretty awesome. Lures in this game is one of the smarter design choices.

My sister who's never played a video game and cares for Pokemon is playing this.

I understand the sever issues. I'm actually shocked by this game

That's awesome.

But, Magikarp -> Gyarados is legendary struggle.

Since when was my main man The 'King a 100 candy bro.

(BTW, I've only fully evolved Pidgeots so I dont' know the numbers for other 3 stagers).

I've seen a lot of 3 stagers with 50 candies for the final stage, but they are mostly weaker Pokemon. Vileplume requires 100 candies.

should you use candy on the lowest tier pokemon or should you ave them if you find a higher tier version of the same pokemon and use them then?
pokemon noob here

what other ways are there to make them stronger? gym?

So after a whole day of walking, biking, and driving I caught a grand total of 0 Pokemon. Think I'm gonna have shelve this app guess it just wasn't meant for me.

Unless my office has a pokestop within feet of my desk I'm done with this game. I'm not creeping to my neighborhoods pool or spending $500 on Pokeballs.

So this happen at a park downtown.
RDWSOp8.jpg

There was at least 30 people that I could see playing Pokemon.

People bringing their families. Big groups of kids riding in with their bikes. Local business people came out to help put down lures. Police officers on bikes came in to play with some of the kids.

oh and earlier in the afternoon, I played videogames by walking and biking around a public park for 90 minutes with 8 complete strangers

at one point another kid rolled up to the group as I was getting ready to head out and at this point I didn't even feel the need to verify his purpose for being there. "Hey there are Jynx all over the playground if you need one" "Thanks man"

I've got an iPhone 6S and running iOS 10 Beta 2.
I keep getting "We can't find the orientation of your camera" when I go into AR mode.

Bummer :(

Edit: Reddit seems to be having the same issue with iOS10. Figures.

Well, beta is beta... Developer probably still needs to work with the new OS.

man yesterday someone in here made a really interesting comment
A guy on a skateboard with tats and piercings sped by me and yelled "what team?", I yelled back "instinct," and he growled back "hell yeeeeeeaaaaahhh" as his voice faded in the distance.

It's amazing the variety of people playing.
I want to see some demographic research of the people playing this and especially the people playing who wind up interacting with one another.

I get the message, but this just looks like a street with parked cars.

Awesome, thanks. Was getting the dodges down a little bit yesterday but did much better today. I probably could have taken a gym today if I knew about the bars. I'll try again tomorrow.

Man whoever has done these pokestops/gyms are fantastic. There's a little sign in East Atlanta that says "Be nice, do right" that's kind of a little landmark over here, and it's a fucking gym. So cool.

I just took a gym for Team Instinct down the street from me, first time I've done that. Feels good man.

I didn't wanna seem like a creeper taking a picture of people so I backed away. .__. That's why it's a little hard to see people. Sorry. 😞

People parked theirs cars all over. Compared to most lures I'v been to which people just sit in their cars these people actually walked around.

Really, really can't stand the 1 HP Gym issue. My Pokemon take damage, need to be revived, etc. but every gym has the same issue and is practically invincible (which I assume is connection-based)? Had this happen 3 times today so far.

After being the leader of a gym for some time, how do you collect your points/coins? Do you have to go back to the gym or will it just appear for you?

God damn.. Im actually thinking about buying a new phone to partake.. I got a Lumia when it was realesed. Might have to force the lady to take my phone, she needs an upgrade I feel :D

in the shop there is a shield in the top right you can click. I only found this out about an hour ago haha

Wow. Someone just stop in front of my appartment, and seem to do something related to Pokemon Go. Im seriously not into pokemon at all, but its mindblowing people are playing it like crazy.

Wtf did Nintendo just created.

So I noticed when looking at my Pokemon that there's a shade of blue behind some of them:

Any significance? It doesn't indicate XS or XL because some Pokemon have the blue but don't have that. It doesn't mean they can evolve or get stronger.

The thirst is real in Canada... :(

For the love of God, update your apps.

I found a couple of gyms that are literally in the middle of nowhere. Claimed them, don't think anyone will ever fight me over them. I have my pokemon in 8 different gyms right now. Team valor is dominating everything in sight.

I had a 300cp charmander just pop in my pokemon list even though I never saw one in the wild. Not complaining

It means you caught that Pokemon in the last 24 hours.

Holy hell this game has me exhausted. Probably walked for 6 total hours today. But at least I was smart enough to use sunscreen and I'm not burnt any worse.

I set a lure about an hour ago at my local park. 10:30pm very dark, in a very sparsely populated area. Didnt expect anyone, since all the lures I went to in the city, I found only 1 person in 2 hours using one lure.

Anyway, my 10:30pm lure, with 15 minutes left, somehow attracted a group of teens running down the street trying to catch it before it died. Theres something cool about that, but since im using an AUS app in the UK i cant buy anymore until it has been released.

Fortunately lures seem to go off all the time in the city so ill make use of that when i can. This game might convince me to get an ext battery.

Alright....does curveball not work? I spin it......get it to shimmer and launch it off my screen to hook back but no bonus or anything is given
