Pokémon Go |OT| As in "Go Outside"

I'm in the same boat. Already bought pokeballs twice today because there isn't a single pokestop nearby me. Meanwhile I hear about people passing by so many pokestops that they literally have to throw out balls because they can't carry anymore. Niantic really needs to do something about this.

Yep, I threw away at least 50 today. Pokestops every where down our two big roads.

This game sounds like it really rewards/punishes people based on location.

that feeling when you catch a good one but it hangs while the ball sits there and all you can do is either wait until your battery goes flat, or quit the app.

I quit and restart on one like that, and the "nearby" panel remained blank. So I guess some part of the server system was unreachable, but not all.

This happened to my sister and she caught a Staryu.

Then I attempt to catch it and it escapes. I'm like, where's my freeze?

>_>

i live in los angeles by tons of bars/restrauants/etc

no way in hell could you hold it for longer than day here

my cp~1200 pokemon are constantly getting challenged by ~2k cp pokemon, its changing colors by the minute
You're having a totally different experience than I am. I think you're taking for granted the ability to be in that position. In a lot of ways you're playing a totally different game.

Just hatched this out of a 10km egg and powered it up with the candies it came with:

let me hold your phone for a second

Can't believe how big this game has gotten since it released.

I wonder if there's any way Nintendo can expand on the concept for the NX Pokemon if it does have a standard home console and handheld hybrid.

you're probably right, but given the potential money to be made on this game, i dont think you have to worry. theyll fix shit and make it more uniform, too much money to be had to do otherwise

i've never even heard of ingress, nor has my wife nor other people i've run into...yet the stops are based on it

they're def gonna change shit up, it would be too incredibly stupid not to

Its super annoying how little the game tells you.

Turning in pokes to the professor to get candy, gym battle dodging, etc etc.

They were actually pretty smart about not doing that. Look how many articles came out explaining the systems, or people posting on forums. It got people talking, creating a lot more buzz.

Yeah I get no luck with the Incense :(. Same Pidgey and Rattatta.

I think the Pokemon attracted from incense / Lures depends on your character level. I used a Lure (Level 12) and got a ton of Magikarps, Slowbro's, Goldeen and Psyducks. A co-worker used it at the same location (level 6) nothing but Pidgey's / Caterpie and a Weedle.

I'm Level 8...10 points from level 9.

I hope so.

i thought this was the case, but im not so sure anymore

last night i was out in the streets at like 2am and ran into a large group of people chillin by a lure

i was level 14 and they were level 2-6

i saw some pretty rare pokemon but so did they...every single time. really confused me and changed my understanding of how level effects lures

There is a park about two to two and a half miles away, a 45 minute walk, that has a stop at either end. The park takes about five minutes to walk across. I can bounce back and forth between these points but that's really the most efficient way I can farm pokéstops locally. It's not like I live in the middle of nowhere, either. There aren't enough locations mapped.

I can conserve pokéballs by catching only the Pokémon I don't already have, but then I can't level up, and if I can't level up I can't participate in gyms, and if I don't participate in gyms I can't get free pokécoins. It's not great.

It's not like there's nothing here. But PoGo don't care.
Yeah it's very weird. I found more Pokemon at work, which is in a town of like 6000 people, on Friday than I have all weekend living in a college town.

The gyms getting overrun by super powerful pokemons will be a problem for casual and newbies. This a problem that should be seriously addressed, it makes the game less enjoyable.

Eevees hate me. Why.

My friend was right next to me and an Eevee appeared for her but not me.

An Eevee kept popping up and disappearing in my Nearby Pokemon list. When I finally got to it, it broke out of its Greatball and fled. This happened twice.

I did manage to catch one at least? That's more than in the last two days.

I just know it's not going to involve into Jolteon as soon as I get enough candy.

I walked through Union Square in NYC today and my phone about exploded from all the pokemon. I had to turn the game off. I couldn't walk 10 feet without stopping to catch another one.

Given how broken this app often is in so many areas... I'm preeeetty doubtful they did it on purpose.

Shit like this is unfair :l. New York has Pokemon for days but a small town like mine gets encounters so slowly and never in packs. The most I've seen on the screen at a time was 2.

well you're not really at a disadvantage. as it is, you have no way with interacting with players from nyc unless you travel there. you'll play with people who live near you and have the same experiences in regards to encounters/gyms/stops/etc.

Just spent the last 3 hours sitting between 3 Pokestops with lures hanging out with 30 people. Caught some great stuff too because there was a Vaporeon sitting out in the open.

Holy crap. My gym just hit lvl 8.
Team yellow is gathering something fierce!

I just watched my yellow gym fall and in its place the red flag rises up. It was kind of sad LOL. I underestimated how quickly this could happen I live in such a small area.. :I its 11 30 at night ffs! If they could make the combat system better I think I would be playing this forever.. wouldn't have to do much just something slightly better than what we have now.

I just walked around the neighborhood with my cousin from out of towb at 11 at night. When we walked back and got to my house, my family asked where we went and I tried to explain to them...they looked at me like I had two heads, except for one cousin who said "Pokemon? Really?"

Feels bad man

Well shit, I passed by my workplace after downloading the game this weekend and found out it has a gym in it and is also next to a PokeStop. >___>

The disadvantage is more about not being able to get free pokéballs, eggs, and so on, and can be even worse when there aren't any Pokémon around at all. It doesn't matter if you are on a level playing field with your local community if there is no field at all. The game just isn't as fun to play in some areas, and that's a shame.

Golf cart at work was perfect for hatching Pokemon lmao. I'm excited to go on a walk this week some time with my friends.

Hatching has yielded some great mons, I post Porygon earlier, got Doduo and Krabby today. Didnt have the former and the latter kept breaking out when I found them.

Magikarp actually broke out of a ball today and fled. That was weird.

While working there's 3 spots by the rec center and a gym by the library. So many people out today. I was tempted to put out a lure tonight but I only have one and im saving it.

I live in LA and I already feel like the game isn't worthwhile to play. The inability to battle outside of gyms to raise your pokemon's levels really defeats the purpose for me, especially when the people who own the gyms' Pokemon are at like level 3,000+. At that point why bother?

Pokemon GO doesn't work for someone like me. I live in a place that requires me to drive everywhere. All I do during the day is go to school and I have no time to play games then so, ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Also this. It just needed to be the battle system tied to a GPS.

Ordered a phone mount for my bike!!!! So excited!!!!!!

Got done with laundry and was just about to go to bed when I see a grey in the nearby area.....fucking parasect....I had to run out and grab it!!!! It was along the main road though.....kind of sucked.

What do you guys think of this idea?

I think it's perfect, especially for the scenario that you catch a pokemon that you can only get outside of your local area and couldn't level up otherwise unless you were to go out again.

That's ingenious

fair enough, point taken

i still think they'll see enough potential money to level it out

makes 0 sense to not do so

edit:

then again, you see posts like this...
