Do peeps who don't have the game officially yet need a new .apk now?

Along with the update, I also got the app asking permission to send notifications on iOS (which I believe it didn't ask for before).

Maybe now the app will have more functionality while not currently open?

Am I crazy, or is the proximity circle around your character larger since the update? I'm getting almost half my office, whereas before I only got a small corner of it.

is it better to finish training your pokèmon (reaching the max potential) before evolving it?or there is no difference?
No difference

Man I still haven't even heard if there's an update for Android at all or not.

Sooo glad the 1hp glitch is fixed either way though, I am gonna try to score a triad tonight at least :D

There is no android update. You can use the old apk because there is no other apk

Also, if you're on Android and live in a region where the game is launched but originally sideloaded the apk, you can uninstall the game and reinstall it from the store and keep your progress once you sign back in. That's what I did anyway. I did a search for it in the store and uninstalled it from the store; I doubt that it matters how you uninstall it though. Considering how online heavy the gameplay is I'm sure everything (userdata) is stored serverside.

Alright, signing in worked now, no .apk needed then it seems :)

I've yet to get into playing it (mostly due to it not being available through the store in my region), but this is probably the intention of Pokémon realized, right?

I've been hesitant towards it because of the reduced focus on battles, but that was never the core of Pokémon - it was 'catching them all'. And this seems like the full virtual realization of Satoshi Tajiri's inspiration for Pokémon - bug collecting. This is a true virtualization of that activity, and I find that fascinating.

The push notifications update- that may be prep for use with the Go Plus. Please don't get your hopes up that traditional os-level notifications are part of this update, if they are ever to come at all.
Is there an Android update too?
Literally no idea lol. Will see what I can find

Since there is a Pokémon wristband coming, I can see them adding smart watch support around that time.
You may be misunderstanding their rationale for releasing the device :P

I apologize if this has already been answered; I haven't gone through many of the pages in the thread. I'm on iOS 10 beta, so AR mode is broken for me. I've been hesitant to start playing because I feel like I won't get the full experience.

Is it still worth it?

For me AR was a novelty but not more than that. Turned it off after a few levels because you don't have to aim your phone anywhere, making it easier to catch pokes.

AR is just a gimmick in this game - it doesn't really add anything

Was only half into this game until my boyfriend and I went out to a trail to catch Pokemon, which was really fucking fun.

We saw about 60-100 people in our area walking around with the game. Unreal.

I have a Charmander starter and was mainly looking for Bulba/Squirtle/Pikachu. Caught five more Charmanders instead. :0

You don't exit the app.

well now there's your problem right there.

I need to understand this too. I've been stuck at 1.2km since yesterday even with the app running.

Okay....let me rephrase that. I don't close the app. I never actively do. But changing to another app, then turning your screen off is obviously wrong, right?
So the correct way is to turn the screen off while having the app open, yes?

as of now it only works when it is the active battery sucking app that it is. There is no way to make it work with the screen off as far as i know, barring some kind of jailbreak option where you are literally shutting the screen down but the phone thinks its still on.

AR mode is actually more of a gimmick/adorable way to get pictures of Pokemon in the real world than anything that actually impacts the game. Catching is easier without (though I actually like the challenge :P) and it drains your battery. Cool, but totally superfluous.

eeee he's beautiful, pau :')

Where are you catching Charmanders? :o

Quick my iOS friends, hit those gyms while android trainers are still waiting for the update.

If the bug is even actually fixed, that is.

It must be on, open, active, burning bright into the sky (there is a battery saver option that dims the screen if you physically turn the phone upside down but it isn't that great).
