Pokémon Go |OT| As in "Go Outside"

well shit. Went to my town center for lunch becuase I'd heard it was full of stuffs, passed the park I went to last week (when the servers didn't let me get anything). There wasn't anyone in it then, and I'd never seen anyone in it before at all actually. There was a lure at the entrance and the gazebo in the back. People strolling and biking around despite the brutal heat. Talked to the guy who dropped the second lure, seemed like an awesome dude. Said Bayside in Miami was going nuts last night. Then I'm wandering around the town center and the statue in front of the HQ building (I work in another building a few miles away) of my company is a gym! Luckily it's already Mystic or I'd have had to be late getting back from lunch. Can't have any other teams owning that shiz.

I know people are still having severe issues and I likely will too later tonight, probably just Jynxed it, but I have to say that over the course of this hour the servers/performance were preeeeetty solid. The app honestly feels great when everything's smooth, catching multiple mons per minute and popping in and out of stops. Client-side it's actually a lot more responsive and well-designed than the server experience/reviews make it out to be.

On the way back to my car this little guy hatched for me:

Hadn't even seen one yet so I didn't know when I'd ever get one. Starter collection hype!

Annnnd back to work. I fucking love this game :X

Miami during the day. You're nuts. I just saw a flyer for a Miami pokewalk on the 16th. I was down til I read 1-6pm

2K eggs give starters?

Cuz my Charmander has basically just been sitting doing nothing

They're also good for getting Magikarp candy.

iOS 10 beta 1 broke Pokémon GO's augmented reality, was hoping this update would fix that.

there's a strong chance it can't be fixed until apple begins accepting iOS 10 app submissions. if the failure is based on an API change and to fix it means calling a new/changed method/API in iOS 10, even if they fix it apple won't accept the code in that update until then (usually 2-4 weeks before iOS 10 ships. probably august sometime)

So what's the best way to up your Pokemon's CP? Stardust doesn't do all that much.

based on my testing... you can pretty much take a pokemon from zero to hero in 20ish candies. however this would cost a LOT of stardust.

it makes sense that they lock you out of gyms until level 5, however it really seems you can't participate much in gyms really until level 10. prior to that the CP limits are really too low without evolving, and evolving for most is too expensive at that point.

Anybody getting discouraged already by this game? It doesn't take skill to play it, so it's basically just a giant grindfest. There's no way I can compete with college students on summer break or people who literally live on top of gyms or pokestops =/

Is there any hope of pokestops/gyms being added? Things are a bit dire when you don't live in a city. Just need one or two pokestops on a walking route and I probably could sustain playing without having to buy balls.

I'm sitting on an Eevee scratching on the right side of the meter, im lvl 18.
I need candy right now.

Me too, I have an Evee that is close to max CP meter, and a Vaporeon that's about 2/3 CP meter. I think I'm going to save my candy and evolve the Evee rather than spend candy/stardust on the Vaporeon. If I evolve this Evee I will have a much stronger x-eon than my current Vaporeon, without spending any stardust.

Don't have to compete with them. Just play it with others and have fun.

Yup exactly the same here. and the 2/3 CP vaporeon is already at 1085.
But it's raining outside :( heavily. damnit.

Did the Android update improve things for anyone? Downloading it now.

No improvements that I can tell. The only change I noticed is that the "where you caught it" map on each Pokemon profile now has a excessively wide range. It went from neighborhood view to a 20-mile radius or so. Now it basically is "you caught this somewhere in the metro area, but we won't tell you anything more than that."

It was a lot more interesting when you could see the street where you caught it.

I finally found a gym that I can beat and the fucking servers shit themselves. What a terrible release this has been.

I also assume I won't get a refund for the fucking item I spent actual money on like an idiot.

latest wave of fare dodgers shocks Berlin

Mind ya the game was released here today.

Thought Valparaiso, IN might be a good haunt for the game due to it being a college town, but place is bare AF. Amazes me that a town like Portage would be flooding in Pokéstops in comparison.

Edit:Maybe I should check out Gary...

I have a couple questions.

I'm running this on an Android phone. Galaxy S5. I have my GPS on, but any time I have the app open I have a message saying "Cannot locate GPS signal" (or something like that) on a red bar at the top of the screen at all times. But the GPS is definitely working because the app knows where I am and it follows me around. Is this causing a glitch? Because I have yet to see a single pokemon around my house, around my office, or on the 3 mile route between my dentist and my office...

Maybe they are way more sparse than I've been lead to believe, but the way everyone is talking on facebook it seems like they're everywhere. Is this the case for anyone else?

Also, how do I find pokecenters? Or whatever the place you get pokeballs is called.

Sometimes that happens if moving too quickly or accessing another app while it's open. If you have doubts, it's usually best to force quit after closing and relaunch.

Sometimes though areas could be straight garbage where everything is always 3 prints away no matter what direction you go in.

Pokéstops are the little blue structures that pop up. Churches and parks are the best places to find them in suburban and rural areas. Urban/metropolitan areas at least extend that out to museums and pubs.

Edit: Top of page Valor shout-out.

I'm level 20 and that's still all I feel like I find.

As you level up, you might see different Pokemon. A good tactic to leveling up quickly is to catch literally everything, stockpiling up on candies of various kinds. Once you have a ton, see how many of that Pokemon you could evolve. Pop a Lucky Egg and start evolving those Pidgey, Weedle, etc. You'll get 1000 XP per evolution. (2000 XP for an evolution into a Pokemon you don't already have.)

Walk around to different places and at different times of the day. That matters too.
Thanks, will try to do that tomorrow. Just fustrating when I'm only level 6 and rest of my peers at like level 15 already with high cp pokemon. My highest is a Raticate.

Does logging in sometimes have kind of an Incense effect?
Because I swear sometimes closing the app and opening it makes pokemon spawn that weren't there earlier

Damn, in the middle of work so I can't check right now, but it was SO stable for me hunting during lunch, I didn't have a single issue. I guess when the west coast kicks into gear as well it makes a bjg difference.

Yea, today seems to be the most stable I've seen it. I haven't had to reboot the game at all today and Pokestops haven't been giving me the "try again later" error.
