I'm sustaining 2050 Mhz in VR and most games I play, 1968 in 3D Mark. (That's at fan levels I consider acceptable, not at insane ones -- also note that this is the "cheap" 2 fan inno3d )what clocks are you able to sustain in gpu limited scenarios?

Steam has 3DMark on sale right now: http://store.steampowered.com/sub/114165
Is this what everyone is using to benchmark their cards? Is the paid version even necessary if all I want to do is test stability and performance gains from overclocking?

Yes. And yes, everyone would recommend it for $5, absolutely.
So the bundle is 10 and the Time Spy update is only 5, but in the bundle it says 3dmark is free. So can you just buy time spy and get 3d mark with it for 5? Or do you need the 10 bundle if you currently have nothing?
Amazon has the MSI GAming X in stock for $862.00. That seems pretty ridiculous
You might be better off since I don't even have an estimate. lol
What'd you get?
Could someone tell me difference between the Strix and Strix OC? My Google Fu is failing me right now. Is it just higher base and boost speeds? Or does the OC have additional features?
I have the regular Strix and I want to know if it is worth keeping.
New BIOS for Gigabyte G1 Gaming is out.
For smoothing the actual fan curve, the fans should no longer jump from 0 to more than 1000RPM all of a sudden.I have this exact card: what is the new BIOS doing? Is it worth updating it?
Keep it, unless it is watercooled, there is only insignificant difference in clock potential among almost all third party cards, it all comes down to silicon lottery. The only difference are really down to cooling, which both Strix models share the same design and performance.

I'd feel a bit better if they even just gave me an estimate. >;
Indeed, I ordered one from Amazon last week when it was listed as a preorder for that price, and I just received it. Nowinstock is a good resource, they pretty much show things as 'out of stock' when your only options are from 3rd party scalpers. Nowinstock will show when an item is available for 'preorder', and Amazon will honour their own listed preorder price if you can catch it.Nowinstock says the last listed price was $730. What you saw was probably a third-party listing.
What is the GPU load at 1350 mhz?Is the Strix cooling system suppose to be ridiculously good? While playing Overwatch on Epic settings, the thing never got above 55 C, which is a solid 15 - 20 degrees cooler than what my EVGA SC was running at on the same settings.
Another thing, I noticed that the Strix only reaches about 1350 MHz while playing Overwatch, compared to 1900+ from the EVGA SC. This difference didn't seem to have any effect on performance what's so ever.
Is there a tool or benchmark that can help me determine whether I "won" or "lost" the "silicon lottery?" Even playing a game like Doom on max settings, the clock speed seems low. The only game I've seen push the GPU was Fallout 4, reaching 2020 MHz for a brief second.
Sorry for all the dumb questions in this post (and throughout this thread); I'm still pretty new to PC gaming and don't yet understand a lot of things.
What is the GPU load at 1350 mhz?
Your card should be atleast 1900+
Sure. The GPU is bored.Just Overwatch. But performance seems fine even at 1350 MHz. I'll do some dicking around with the settings. Could capping the FPS at 60 account for why it isn't reaching 1900+?

Of course. The GPU isn't going to run at full speed when it has no need to.

I just bought it and it doesnt even work................great.
Don't matter what test I run, I keep getting this error.
At what point do we expect these cards to become more abundant in availability?
Ok. I got my card! Gigabyte G1 1080. Can anyone give me any overclocking tips? How do I know if I have won this silicon lottery that keep getting talked about?
I have started playing with the Gigabyte overclocking tool. Just curious how hard I should push it. It caps out at +911 MHz ( 2607/2746 total.. not sure why it gives me two numbers ), but I obviously haven't tried going balls out yet. I am noob to GPU overclocking, so any info would be welcome I am sure.

Boy I got lucky as FUCK!!!
The prices are jumping around like crazy for these 1080 cards.
I got this card......

for this price

right after I purchased it, it went up to that 800+ price.

Congrats, but that $800 price is by a third party seller. You just happened to catch it when Amazon had stock up for the founders msrp.
Either way, you'll enjoy it. I threw my FE on water and it's great.
you over clocked yours??? Or does it gets so hot that you needed to put a water cooler on it???
