Wasn't there an insider rumor that there were 2 models being tested? For an april document, it seems to suggest 1 model line that has a dev kit and 2 prototype test kits.

If they care about people going to PC, they should be concerned about people going to Scorpio.
The launch date seems to escape people.
The Scorpio is about 1.5 year away, with no dev kits, the other one appears to be coming out this fall.
The implication based on the document is that there would be one box, though it's not explicitly confirmed.

GAF is bad math. The NEO has 4 TF (something like that) not 1.85, that is the PS4.
Anyway, MS is going all out because they blew and this is a reset for them.

I love PlayStation, but I can't wait to see how Sony spins the PS4 being completely outclassed when power was such a huge selling point this generation. Likewise power will suddenly matter to Microsoft now.
PlayStation is still going to dominate, but the narrative on both sides is definitely going to change. It already has from one interview I vaguely recall from a Sony exec.
That was a smart move the last time around. Let's see if history repeats itself. I seriously doubt it, but you never know.
Neo is a PS4. There will be only one version of a each game, and Neo will not get any exclusive games. All games must run on PS4, and therefore not much will change except maybe a ~"better on Neo" sticker on a box.

They only had the more powerful console definitively one time in their whole time of being in the console market. I think claims like these are very strange.
And in general, people underestimate that those who care about power arent buying on consoles to begin with, brands and games matter much more, and PS is just stronger worldwide by default

More than enough to account for the power disparity.
I don't have any doubt in my mind that the ps4 neo will play uhd movies.
If the Xbone S can do it, so will the ps4 neo. And Sony had more motivation to push 4k than MS does.

This whole not announcing bullshit needs to end. We all know it is coming, just fucking confirm a date so we can make our plans on what to buy lol.
VERY interesting details (if real, and it seems 99% likely it is). Some of my takeaways / realizations:
- Native 4K UHD is only 3840 x 2160 (compared to 1920 x 1080 HD). I thought it was higher, like 7680 x 4320 but that's apparently 8K UHD.
- "Save data can be moved between original PlayStation®4 systems and NEO systems" I presume this means you can upload your PS4 saves to PSN then download them on your Neo system and resume (and I assume, vice-versa).
- This really is more of an incremental upgrade aimed at people with 4K TVs. Doesn't have much of anything to do with PSVR. Doesn't look like a PS5 / Scorpio rival, and was never intended to be.
- If you get a PS4 NEO but only have an HDTV there's not much point. Some games may even be solely rendering at 4K and downscaling to HD just so you can see it!

Also it is crazy how this discussion has exploded based on the same information we had months ago. Literally nothing new about this.
This quote is also blown out of proportion. They aren't scare about people going to PC because they aren't powerful enough. They were noting that there was a small segement of users going to PC in the 7th gen because it lasted so long and stretched the hardware so thin performance wise.
This NEO would have a bonus effect of keeping some of those people in the ecosystem because the differential over the cycle would not be as large.

OK. The thing is though these things (specs) can't just magically be changed overnight. The dev kit model number listed in these docs was certified at the MIC (Japanese Government body) in December last year. The docs also say the dev/test kits specs are final and can be used for submission testing.
All we are missing is a dev to post here that this doc was read by him/her before GB/DF/Kotaku posted about Neo for me to state 100% the basic specs have been locked for a good while i.e. months. Only smaller details would change.
I will be the first to slow clap Sony if Neo ends up with either/or a different CPU than Jaguar or more than a 4.2TF GPU.

Expected. PS4 games specifically target PS4 so it makes sense it runs the same as the older PS4 games wouldn't know how to use neo specific features.

Why pc is still going to be better then scorpio. Neo is for people who might upgrade to cheap pcs now many that perform better then a ps4. Even then this is just so they can have a premium model when they drop the ps4 price. They aren't going to respond to scorpio because they have a launch date and price already planned. A theoretical ps5 will compete with Scorpio and probably leapfrog it again until Microsoft comes out with their new model. They are now on different cycles.
this reminds me of people being mad at Sony for not giving them enough time to save $$$ if they go with a short announcement to release time window.
It's not going to be a Scorpio. So not many options.
And I don't expect a ps5, to come out a year after the Scorpio. Would likely anger ps4/Neo owners.
