Super "NeoGAF Arcade Stick Thread" II TURBO

Dope!! Should get the spring by Saturday. The Drone has potential to be a downlow gem of a stick, to be honest, especially for those willing to swap out the stick altogether.

I had put the 2 lbs spring in my Drone. It still feels kinda loose. I'll probably throw in a 4. Have to order Sanwa buttons, tho... Can't stand the regular buttons.

I'm thinking of switching the stick too..

So far.. Let just say that i am not impressed by the Drone...

Well, if stick and buttons are modded, then for the size/weight and portability plus the slick design, it's a solid choice. The problem is that the price is too steep--$70 would have been fair, imo.

So anyone good with electrical know-how? lol

Would a series of 12v LED even be able to work off a 5v power source? (USB into the Brook PCB). Would they illuminate at all? (Even at a dimmer brightness) or not at all?

First Theme FC4 pad? Also, New HRAP4 Themed stick.

yes, and I recommend it as you would only need 1 resistor

Ooh, okay. I think I'm beginning to understand this. So running two chains (one for the power and the other for ground) would be running them in parallel then. (The whole parallel vs. series thing was throwing me, which is why for a while I couldn't comprehend which kind of resistor I'd need)

Now that EVO is coming and there are several sales, which stick would you guys recommend?
I was interested on the Qanba Drone, which I guess has been discussed here and oddly I'm also checking the Hitbox arcade since I used one before but it broke.

Also want to add Focus Attack I think is gonna have a sale as well with discounted (-$10) Brook boards.

HRAP Kai/V are the best sticks out imo. I can't recommend Mad Catz products since I've had too many fail on me.

It seem like Focus Attack is restocking the "pain in the ass to change" mechanical buttons for the Evo sale.

Art's Hobbies will update the site soon for Hori Fighting Edge.

Continuing with the Evo Custom Countdown here is a Juri custom that was a lot of fun to put together. The case is swamp ash stained, then color filled to make to grain pop. The stick is wired using a PS4 Brook Board and a Kaimana Mini from Paradise Arcade for RGB color effects. The colors for the LED's are Purple on activation and full RBG strobe on idle.

Wow, great job. that stick looks amazing!

It's amazing that they can't keep any of that stuff in stock lol. MadCatz is a mess.
yea I wanted to get black side panels, but now I dont even care. Thats mainly because I was swapping the side panels off the other day and stripped one of the screws putting it back in....stick is a mess, there was no way that screw shouldve stripped

Got my art print from Art's Hobbies the other day, and I couldn't be happier with it. I had tried printing and cutting my own artwork before, but it always resulted in frayed edges around the button holes and an imprecise fit. Art's laser-cut button holes look and it perfectly, and the paper stock that he uses is better than what I was utilizing on my own.

All in all it was well worth the two-week wait, and I highly recommend their services to anyone looking to print/cut some custom art for their sticks. I'm still waiting on some Sanwa plungers from Focus Attack before my stick's makeover is complete, so I'll probably be able to post final pics on Saturday evening.

PS - Despite not offering it directly on their website, they can cut the button holes to the default larger size of the TE2/TE2+ so you won't have to take out the buttons in order to swap in the new artwork. Simply specify "cut larger button holes to default template" in the Special Notes field when placing your order.

Question on Titan One:
Is there an easy way to get this working for PS4? I'm using a 360 fightstick on a PS4. I know about the laptop method, but don't have a laptop to use with it. Is the best option to do wireless authentication then just re-authenticate after each match?

I forgot how I setup mine, but I was able to get it to be a "PS3" controller where I didn't need to reauthenticate

Whoa. Just got my LS-56 in. I like how stiff it is for sure but that short throw--that will take some getting used to. I can see why it's recommended for shmups. Going to put it in my white HRAP.

Oh, and got the 2lb spring for the Drone. Hope that makes it somewhat feasible until I swap out entirely!

Out of curiosity, has anyone used PS-14-GN, PS-14-KN and PS-14-K buttons? I've always been curious about the K and how they compared to the GN and KN in the plunger type. I never cared for how the KN feels and I love the GNs to death.

I got a set of G one time to try them but they were almost perfectly flat on the plunger and I really didn't like them. If the K is basically the KN but with a flat plunger and snap-in I'll just pass completely.

Bottom line: I'd like a button that looks like the KN that feels like the GN both in plunger shape and resistance. The K also looks to be a 2-piece plunger like the KN, but does it have the same feel?

Alright, thank you both.

It seems I'm really liking the idea of the hitbox (again lol), do we have hitbox users here on GAF?

Since for my old one the basically it's having some sort of short circuit with the connection cable since it was detachable, any tutorials to see if I could fix that? Should I post pics?

The LS-56 feels really damn good. It's actually less stiff than the Hayabusa with the 2lb spring, but stiffer than the LS-40. I like it a lot. I still need to get more used to it though--I was doing some unwanted jumps due to the short throw.

anybody with old sticks take a look at the bottom lately?
my hrap3 has started, i dunno, growing this whitish stuff on the bottom plate, i've cleaned it off with a scrubbing pad once but it just grew back

here's a pic

how do i deal with this?

looks like aluminum corrosion to me. If that is indeed metal on the bottom and my eyes aren't fooling me.

Three hour wait for me in the arcade shock line last night only to discover they ran out of the gold EVO buttons and balltops :(

I felt bad later for the attitude I gave the dude there as I did end up with the silver ones instead...

Longest I've ever waited in line for anything in my life.

It's pretty simple looking, but I figured I'd share since this is the most involved mod I've ever done and I'm really happy with how it turned out:

HRAP V with all black art + new plexi and purple seimitsu buttons and balltop on the stock hayabusa stick.

Anybody have this stick? I've been shopping around for a PS4/PS3/PC stick and this one looks pretty good.

Already have experience with Hori, so I'd like to give Madcatz (or Qanba) a shot.

The newest MadCarz line of sticks has been pretty hit or miss as far as QC goes. I have already had to send mine back for a replacement and quite a few others users here as well have had issues come up in regards to the PCB developing issues after sometime. There are others though that havent had any issues so it's luck of the draw.

MC is usually pretty good about getting replacement parts and whatnot if issues do arise if you are willing to deal with it.

Went through two TE2+ sticks and had to pay for shipping to get the first replaced. Both had issues (first one would randomly disconnect, second one would keep registering a down back input), so I scrapped it and ended up just going with Hori and couldn't be happier. I wouldn't recommend a MCZ stick if you can help it.

Oof. I'm not sure if I'm willing to deal with that. Thanks for the advice.
My current stick is a Hori EX-SE. It's served me well for years, but it's a bit much to lug around to tournaments and whatnot (it being X360-only definitely doesn't help).

Mainly I'm looking for a mid-size stick with decent customization. With as much Tekken as I play, I'd like to test out the circlegate/teardrop "Korean style" sticks.
