Super "NeoGAF Arcade Stick Thread" II TURBO

Yes, PS4 updates can still break Brook compatibility. The last couple times it has happened Brook had an update out within 48 hours to restore functionality. I may be wrong but I think it's only happened twice.

Some HRAPs come with the Hayabusa/Kuro setup and some with Hayabusa stick and buttons. If you are used to Sanwa I think you'll like the Hayabusa stick. Personally I am not a fan of the Kuro buttons. To me, they feel like the jank MCZ knockoffs that they put in their SE sticks. I can't speak to Hayabusa buttons as I've never used them but I've heard very favorable comparisons to Sanwa.

Pretty accurate, imo.

I like the hayabusas, though.

Ok sounds good, I think I can start from the Brook Adapter and if for some reason I am not satisfied I can go for the Kai and maybe swap the buttons with those of any of my older sticks.

The Hayabusa buttons are really nice. I hope they release some colored ones at some point. The matte finish puts them over sanwa for me, they are also a little more sensitive to pushing I feel but it may be anecdotal.

Bought the Splitframe Bison bag at EVO. It was made for the Viewlix, but I got the Hori RAP 4. Spent about $126, but I was looking to buy a stick bag for a while and I knew that if I didn't buy one here, I wasn't going to get one for a while.

$126 bag for a $140 stick? :) Just messing. Actually looks super nice.

I know. They were selling a smaller backpack for $80 at one point, but they were sold out when I went Sat. Night. The line for split frame was at least 2 hours long until Sat. Night after SFV semi finals started.

- I saw that the HRAP4 Kai comes with a Hayabusha stick and Kuro buttons. Is this good enough? I am used to Sanwa sticks/buttons and I am also perfectly ok with Seimitsu sticks if this helps in any way.

Get the HRAP with Hayabusa buttons--those are standard now for them and the stick can be had on Amazon for $149. Hayabusa buttons are legit great imo.

So at the minute, I'm trying to decide between these 2 sticks:

https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B00NHDSINS/

https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B019CQKCOQ/

Now, I've not used a stick since the PS2 days ( Tekken 4/5 ) so it's a way back into it for me, I primarily play MKXL, Injustice, and SFIV/V, but wanting one to last for any otehr fighting games as well

Between those two, honestly, get the first one over the Alpha. Neither used brand-name stick or button components, but that first one is at least a big, chunky, weighty stick which you can pretty easily change the parts in if you ever feel like getting a better lever or buttons.

The Alpha, on the other hand, is actually kinda too small to be particularly useful, and a pain to mod.

The one advantage for the Alpha is that Mad Catz released xInput drivers for their stick range for the PC, whereas that other stick will only register as DirectInput. That's probably a consideration if you are looking to play SFV on the PC rather than console.

Thanks, quite honestly, I stick to PS4 for fighting games and I have looked into the modding options for the first stick when/if I want to go that route also

Rather than buying a stick and then modding it, just buy a better stick in the first place. Hori's HRAP line is tournament-grade out of the box and not much more expensive than the options you've listed.

Whilst I generally agree, it's pretty hard to get a HRAP4 in the UK for the same kind of prices you can get them for in the US, and they aren't getting any cheaper given the current value of the pound. They're £130 on Amazon UK at the moment - basically spot-on double what he's looking at spending, and you'd be hard-pressed to manage to import one from somewhere at even that price.

(Honestly, I'd have been tempted to grab a HRAP4 myself when I'm in the US in a couple of weeks if it wasn't for having to find luggage space to lug it back in!)

Anyone had experience putting in Snap in's on a wood/plexi setup? I'm pretty sure I didn't think ahead and should of bought Screw-ins, but the LED's I wanted only fit 30mm. I'm using an old Nuby Anniversary Stick as the shell, and the holes are 28.5mm, but I'm not sure if it will mount properly even after I expand the holes.

Just wanted to show off my new arcade stick. Brook 4-in-1 board, Sanwa buttons, Seimitsu LS-62 joystick. The case is powder-coated matte black metal from All Fight Sticks. I'm really happy with how it turned out and it feels rock-solid.

Any teardowns or reviews of the Qanba Carbon yet? Is it identical to the Q1 in construction. I ask because the Drone doesn't have a pin connector on the stick lever and I'm wondering if the Carbon is the same.

Wish me luck GAF. I want to get back into fighting games and playing with a pad just hasn't felt right to me (elite controller was close but no cigar)

So today I bought my first arcade stick, a mayflash f300. I know it's not the best by any measure but it seems like a good starting point. Very excited to play all my older arcade and neogeo games with a stick as well. Just a little worried that I'm going to like it too much and my obsession with buying controllers is going to go to an entirely new level!

Good luck man. I'm not going to lie, it's hard to stop at one. I've had to cut myself off at four.

I don't know why my week JLF old stick feels like shit. Shit is pissing me off. It always feel worse when I'm on the 1st player side. Anyone else have that same sensation?

That's my issue too. Other guys mentioned that the hayabusa stick is like $150 in Amazon.com but for us Europeans I can't find a similar deal so far.

If anyone knows where I could buy this for any price close to 150 EUR I would be more than happy.

How did the Hori Fighting Stick Mini 4 turn out, anyone here try it?

I'm giving SFV a more serious go than I have previous fighting games; historically I've always used a 6-button pad but played casually at best. I currently have a FC4 I'm using (the one with the rotating d-pad and shorter right handle) which is working okay, but I'm hitting the point where my left thumb is actually starting to hurt after a while, probably at least in part since I play a charge character. I've often thought about trying out a stick, and the Hori Mini is a very attractive price-wise at $40. On the flipside though even if it's not bad for the price I'm concerned that it's not going to be high enough quality to get a feel for whether or not a stick is for me, but alternatively I don't want to spend ~$150 to get a good quality stick only to find out that it is indeed not for me. Any thoughts?

Really love the look of this. Simple, clean and understated.

Skill, it's a pretty dope stick. Really loving it right now.

Ordered!

I love that in the description it says it's tighter. :)

TE-S+ has been really great for learning guile's boom loop. Being able to reset in the corner immediately is so good. I really dislike stock sanwa now, so it'll be good to at least try a different stick in it.

Oof @ 9.00 shipping on a 19.00 stick. :(

Nobody messes with the LS 32 anymore?
We all love our LS-40s lol.
I got an LS-40 because the LS-56 required a mounting plate with my stick, and I was scared off by stories about the LS-32's "gate jumping". Also because everyone else in this thread said the LS-40 was awesome (and it is haha).

If you don't want to switch out the stick just yet, you could try modding your JLF with a Kowal actuator or something.

Out of curiosity, have any of you ever tried replacing the LS-40's spring with something stiffer?

Finally finished my Project Diva Future Tone controller!
No pic atm, because I need to leave for work, but it's nice to finally have it up and running.

nice. How much did the case cost? I picked up a panzer metal case and it's super nice so Im interested in this case as well

I would get accidental jumps all the time on LS-32s. That's pretty much the reason I've avoided seimitsu sticks.

Don't let me down, Stick-GAF. :P

Can I easily install the LS-40 in my OG TE stick?

Well, about that....I got them at first with both the LS-40 and 56, but quick adjustment and now I'm good. We're talking like first day. Never had that with the LS-32 though, just to compare.

If anyone is considering getting a Qanba Drone, I'm actually putting up an unboxing video shortly on FloKO. Gonna do a full review and post that later this week. I'll post the unboxing video once I've got it up!

It looks pretty sweet on first impression.

It *looks* good for sure, but those buttons and that stick. Still, the video would be much appreciated!!

I haven't had a chance to open it up yet, but I know the Q4 was super easy to pop out the buttons and put in san-wa.

I have the Drone and yeah, I got Sanwas in there but its a bit of a pain in the ass cuz its so cramped, particularly a couple of buttons. The stick I put a stiffer spring in but still pretty crappy. Its a great size stick though for portability, which is important. The Madcatz Alpha and Hori Mini are both wayyy too small. Once I get a Seimitsu in there, no question I will be rocking it more.
