XBL: Games with Gold

I'm downloading every free game. No matter what. Why? It costs me perhaps 20 seconds to make that purchase. But I'm also buying Rocket League DLC cars that I'll never use again.

-----

Edit: Isn't there an "automatically download purchases" option on Xbox that can be turned on or off? I'm sure that there is one.

Bullshit, unless you played on easy, skipped every cutscene and sprinted past all the encounters.

I could see it. For just gameplay time, my first play through was on Legendary and I was searching for skulls and intel and I beat the game in around 9 hours. A play through on Normal just going through the story should take at least half that time.

There isn't and probably will never be one, because I think MS pays publishers per download and having that option would cost MS more money than it usually would.

Would be nice to get one though, aswell as the option to add to ready to install so you don't have to cancel the download like PS4 has.

There being only 3m downloads for a big game like The Crew pretty much shows why multiplayer will probably never go free, far too many people have gold and don't download any of the games. I do wonder how PS+ fares in comparison since theirs started out as a free game service I have to imagine it being quite high (maybe even as high as 7-8M once you take the sales difference into consideration), anyone have any numbers from their program?

How does it work on the Xbox One?
GWG games go to your install list and don't install automatically?
Games you buy install automatically?

I ask because Tumblestone didn't download straight away but I'm almost certain games in the past have.
Probably ones I bought.

They should download automatically but something messes up sometimes and it doesn't download, not sure what exactly but that's not normal behaviour. Happens to me aswell sometimes.

Yes it's on me but on psn everything drops on the first Tuesday and lasts a month, that's more consumer friendly.

Got a link?

Couple of things to keep in mind. X360 GWG titles you own forever. Not just for how long you have XBL, but forever. Sony does not do that at all with any of their PS+ games. This is why X360 GWG offerings only last for 2 weeks. Now, as far as actual X1 GWG games, most of them last for 30 days, but there are a few exceptions. Most recent example was Goat Simulator lasted only two weeks, but The Crew lasted for 30 days. The reason X1 GWG offerings are this way is that they are like PS+, you only can play them if you have an active XBL subscription. I know it sucks on both services, but that's how they make sure you stay a subscriber.

If you cancel your subscriptions and sign up again later do they become available again?

Says here you took 2.5 hours to complete 6 of the 15 missions in the game.

Goat Simulator lasted a month. All Xbox One games do.

nekkid

It doesn't matter who we are, what matters is our plan.
That's hilarious - trolls can't catch a break, these days!

I didn't feel like Halo 5 was any shorter than any previous entries, but I don't think 343i did themselves any favours by calling it a 12(?) hour on average campaign.

How exactly is it strange?

Why on earth would I waste my time downloading a game I have absolutely zero interest in?

Why throttle my garbage Australian internet speed and take up space on my external HDD for a game I know I'll never play?

You don't download them. Just add them to your account. Maybe you'll have a kid who wants to play them. Or maybe your tastes will change over the years.

Uh, are you in the preview program? because I am and I'm missing like half the options you have, I've got an option for keeping my stuff up to date but nothing about automatically downloading purchases, but it does that for me already.. well sometimes at least, other times it doesn't for some reason.

But that's not quite what I meant, disabling that would mean disabling it for games I actually want to download there and then aswell. PS has an option to add it to their games library without downloading for each individual game which I think would be neat, plus it looks like your option is only for when in instant on mode?

If people are never going to play it, and they know they are never going to play it, not going to the effort downloading it and wasting hard disk space is "fucking strange"

At the very least on 360 they're games you own forever. Why wouldn't you anyway?

Disc space? Some of you throw that old chestnut around like deletion isn't an option.

Because we have no interest in the game and don't want it, even if it's "free"? At least, that's why I don't.

You guys are pretty vested in folks downloading everything. How could you possibly care?

Disc space? Some of you throw that old chestnut around like deletion isn't an option.

They take up space to install and play. If I'm never going to play it, installing it is fairly stupid. If I'm never going to install it, adding it to my queue is thoroughly pointless.

"cannot be bothered" is way worse. I have a friend who doesn't have TTT2 because he couldn't be bothered, it was 3 button presses! He is now extremely gutted he doesn't have it, as a bunch of us lobby and fight.

Speaking of download gubbins, am I nuts, or is there no way to download to an external HD straight away? It seems I always have to *start* the download, then move it.

Question:

Halo Guardians is free till July 5th too. Anyone know the campaign's length?

Response:

it took me 4 hours

its not bullshit, i played on medium, didn't skipped any cutscene, but i didn't stop to even breath, basically just sprint and shoot everything on sight, the game is sure short

Someone call the cops because jem0208 committed murder:
