Overwatch has developed quite a fan art following....

Mad Max Fury Road reference? I rewatched it just now.

Hey, I'm curious, which is considered the 'canon' young Genji? I feel his green hair look is better, but at the same time, green hair is an unrealistic haircolor. Granted, this game is pretty cartoonish and stylized (Widowmaker is blue for christ sake), but hair color is pretty normal by and large, mostly blond, black, and brown (or white for soldier and reinhardt). And Hanzo's hair is blackish/blue, so....I lean toward black more...but green is the one titled "Young Genji", which you'd assume would be the alt. And Zarya has pink hair, I just assumed it was dyed all this time, but maybe not...? And Junkrat's hair is perceptually on fire.

If you go find Genji's room on the Nepal map there's a framed picture of green-haired young Genji with young Hanzo, so it seems like that is his canon look. It's probably meant to be dyed.

That's cool, I didn't know that. I specifically went to check, and it's true, but there is also a portrait of him and Hanzo right on the other side of the room, and he has black hair there. So, I'm guessing you're right, it is black but he dyed it.

Any other cool lore trivia in the maps I should know?

For some reason I felt compelled to actually buy the game seeing fanarts in here, lol.

That is crazy, I guess. Buying a game due to the quality of its fanarts.

Yeah, tons of it. A lot of the maps tie into the comics or the animated shorts, you can see evidence of the stuff that happened in those if you look around. There are also clues to future characters planted around the maps, and plenty of easter eggs and references to other Blizzard games. Here's a pretty good rundown. There's a lot of YouTube videos about this stuff, too.

Interesting, thanks.

You know, reading the Hanamura stuff, I wonder if a third sibling is going to appear. After all, the Shimada clan is obviously still operational even though one brother has turned complete renegade against them and the other is missing. So whose running it? An easy answer would be a third Shimada. It'd be odd that their not included, but there are lots of ways around that. I personally would love for a third, red dragon to show up.

I wasn't paying attention to or really caring about Overwatch before the fanart. I have to know about a ton of games due to my job, and honestly, Overwatch / Battleborn / Paragon and the like were all just kind of jumbling together in my head.

I had a chance to try the game before the beta came out, and I thought it was kind of neat (enjoyed playing the healer angel girl) but didn't have any serious drive to play it more.

Then, I started seeing all of the art come out, started really falling for the characters, and my interest spiked. I tried the game again when we got it in at the office and quickly fell in love (thanks to it being such an amazingly fun game).

Why should anyone be told they can or can't cosplay as someone/something just because of their body shape?

It's fine when it's a character with a super generic body type, but when a character is at an extreme end of the scale you need to portay it. It's just as important as their hair colour or their costume.

Zarya without the muscle would just be another typical female character.

Eh... I get what you're saying, but people relate to specific characters for a reason, and obviously there isn't a set of rules when it comes to cosplay. As long as there's attention to detail and love for the character, I'll fully support it.

Like that genderbent Zarya that's been posted a few times! Perfection.

For the sake of what you can reasonably expect from real world people, I'd say she's more than qualified.

I'm not sure how large the intersection of female power lifter, Overwatch fan, and cosplay would be in order to find a perfect match.

I see what you're saying, but it's still stupid as fuck. You could use this to justify all sorts of negative things (you can't be that character! You're not the right race/sex/age)

I could almost, ALMOST see in a pro cosplay setting... But people just going off and having fun? You need to lighten up a little.

Hate to see your reaction to the overweight guys in deadpool costumes at Comic-Con.

I think it is interesting most artists take the anime influenced route when drawing overwatch characters.

......interesting indeed.
