Pokémon GO is finally out in Japan

Currently #8 on the grossing charts.

What game is above P&D and Monster Strike?

Osaka here as well, around the Fukushima district. Not as many stops as around my office building (that one is crazy), but I can still hit about 6 stops on a 5 min walk around my house. There's also a gym next to me from my team (yay) and another gym about 3 mins by walk on the opposite direction. I can't farm stops from my apartment but I reckon I'll get rich at work.

Anyway, so far today I've seen about 20 or so people playing the game when I walked around my apartment for some 15 mins, with a few groups of 3 or 4 kids, also saw more girls playing this than I expected. On my way home I saw two salarymen playing in front of the gym and when I got home and checked, lo and behold, they had added another pokemon to it, so I assume they both were blue team! :)

Tomorrow I'm going to Minoo (a park in Osaka) and expect to be able to find quite a few things, though being kinda far it might actually be empty. Oh well, let's see!

In Tokyo, countless dozens playing today. Literally, every soul in my office is playing. Went to Starbucks for Lunch, and at least 75% of the store checked the app at one point or another.

It says White Cat Project

(I have no idea what the game is like)
Thanks. Apparently it's a game you can play with just your thumb and has "raids" and such (up to 4 players in real time). No wonder it's up there, sounds perfect to play on a train.

And i am sitting here in little Denmark in a very very small town. 1 gym and 1 stop.
In the city i work in there are 3 gyms very close to each other and quite a bunch of stops. But cant reach from job :/

Welcome to the game lovely japanese guys and girls :)

Pff, come back when there is no gym or stop where you live.

Seeing all these pokestops everywhere in the pictures, I'm surprised people even buy anything from the apps.

Can't get Lures, Lucky Eggs or Incubators from Pokestops. You get a few on certain Lv-Ups, but I can see why people would want to buy more of those.

Quick question. Does this mean that people who were waiting for the JPN App Store or Google equivalent could have been playing this whole time if they were using a US (other places before JPN) account? Or were there no Pokestops or Gyms in JPN before the official launch?

Copying my post from the other thread:

I spent the entire damn day yesterday trying to get the damn app to even load for me. Despite trying basically every 30 mins for 5+ hours it never once progressed past the loading screen. Isn't this why they deleted the damn thing here in Japan? WTF? I repeat it refused to load all damn day. Not even once. What an infuriatingly glitchy price of crap.

I've got a US iTunes account on my Japanese iPhone. You could load up the game but it would eternally try to connect to the servers and nothing showed up on the map. There weren't pokestops or gyms before the official launch.

I have to say it is kind of crazy how many people I have seen playing it. Walking back from work to Shinjuku station and basically if someone had a phone out there was a 90% chance it was Pokemon.

Getting back to my home station and going for a meal I would say 1 in 4 people or so we're playing. Sitting in the restaurant by the window and you could see people walking past, stopping, looking around etc.

The staff in the restaurant were talking about how so many people coming in are playing it etc etc. The cook said how they should make a Mario Kart Go for driving and the waitress was essentially like "That seems like a recipe for accidents" haha.

There were a group of 6 people standing outside a restaurant where someone had used a lure. This was in 5 minutes walk of an area where there 4 poke stops all with lures and 2 gyms. I should have gone to see what it was like there.

On sites like appannie and thinkgaming, they list pogo as number 1 grossing in the us but in the app store itself, pogo stays at number 10 or below. Is there a reason for this and is the app store ranking more accurate?

Guys the Snapchat story for the Pokemon Go Japan release is freakin awesome.

Japan is so hyped lol. Theres a dude that put his phone in a net attached to his ceiling fan to hatch his eggs lmao

What does "top grossing" actually mean?

is that most revenue in the past day? week?

I assume it's the amount earned per day, the other thread Nirolak posted showed a chart that the top grossing game in Japan on mobile devices earns around 2-3mil per day.

Same here in my small city it's taken over. Even this morning when I took my daily walk (now with Pokemon added) there were many people already up super early playing the game. Also was just shocked how much time the game took over each networks national news evening program at the beginning last night. I can't imagine what it will be like later this afternoon when more people are playing. Also so far I've only seen adults playing. Kids are just playing their normal summer vacation games outside. Kinda glad to see that and not just all of them glued to phones too. But I'm sure that will change too soon.

Pokemon Go is doing between 3-5M a day just in the U.S. + Japan on iOS platforms. Which is kinda crazy.

Meanwhile, I have to bike for 30 minutes to find 3-4 pokestops. It sucks how sparse locations in the GTA are (unless you live in downtown).

The funny thing is, there is another 20 or so behind me within 2-3 blocks on a single straight line. I just walk up and down the street :p

I wonder why Japan is so blessed? I'm not even in Tokyo.
