RDR 3 main character should be a slave

Just an idea that I wish for the game, something more interesting than another mid aged white guy looking for his white family story in the wild west part 2.
The premise could be behind a slave in that setting and time trying to earn his freedom. It could provide much more interesting content, and tackle complicated issues that the country faced and still is. I think it will come at a perfect time as more and more mediums are discussing the topics of slavery and racism.

I don't know, maybe I just really want a Django like RDR game made by Rockstar where you shoot up slave owners.

I wouldn't mind multiple main characters again, GTA V style.

Yes please. The Good, The Bad AND The Ugly. Be nice (but unlikely) to be able to do 3-player Co-op campaign too. :)

Nah I want to play as a badass gunslinger.

They're not mutually exclusive.

That could be interesting.

A woman, a slave and a Native American would all be characters that would let them tell interesting stories that could be different than most others in the genre.

That said, I hated switching in GTA V. I think I like the Yakuza 4 style better

My wish for the last six years. I'd also like a female Native American, if they were to do multiple protagonists.

Some Catcher Freeman-type shit (Granddad's version)

This would be kinda awesome if done right.

Why does that eliminate the idea of a slave...?

I mean I think the assumption is that the slave would become free early in the game. Or would be a former slave.

The last thing I want is a heavy political message.
All of Rockstar's games touch on politics / society, though. Redemption was filled with commentary on the American government, mistreatment of Native Americans, sexism, etc.

lol I didn't know a slave trying to get his freedom was a liberal idea.

Just thought its a general conscious.

Plus I don't remember Django having a 'political' message.

RDR3 would have to go back in time a bit compared to the last game then. You wouldn't be able to play a slave in the last game because it was almost the 1900's.

This would be great!

This is a totally awesome concept and Rockstar is definitely the studio to make such a thing. I don't know if it'd fit under the Red Dead brand/umbrella, but the concept itself is solid.

That's a great idea with a lot of potential but I wonder if Rockstar could sensibly pull it off in both gameplay and story.

Also basically any idea for RDR3 would have to go back in time and be a prequel. Red Dead Redemption was set right at the end of the wild west.

It already was actually. It started in 1911 and ended in 1914.

I've always assumed the next game would be set earlier, though. Basically like San Andreas and Vice City coming after the modern-day GTA 3. And since R* usually does new characters for each game anyway it'd be easy to do (aside from a few Redemption cameos).

Sure but I think Native American would be a bit more interesting.

But its red dead and you will need to play as a Cowboy ass Cowboy so maybe multi character like GTAV would be smart. That way they can have your standard western stereotype lead and have other, more out there characters to play with as well.

Yeah a slave or a native american could be rad theres a lot of really interesting subjects that could be covered. Also lmao at the people asking rockstar not to make the game politcal.

I like the idea a lot. Would be really cool to be a Buffalo Soldier.

I like the multiple characters idea from GTAV coming to RDR to let me see the story from different perspectives and potentially forming your own single player posse to free roam with.

I would take a Django Unchained type of game. It could be kickass.

However, the game risks being awful if it is anything realistic. Imagine all the racial slurs thrown at you when you randomly interact with people?

It would be a great statement, but games are great because they allow you to escape to a better place. A place in which everybody hates you doesn't feel somewhere I want to go to.

He should be a white slave based in another country. White slaves don't get much representation. Slaves in American history are just so overdone.

Maybe it should be set in modern times and tackle the rampant sex slavery going on right now in the United States.

What the OP suggests actually fits the existing setting of the franchise. Your suggestions involve going off to another country, or putting it in present day, neither of which make much sense for a Red Dead game.
