3DS Streetpass Experiences

Just tallied mine. 104/160 A+ ranks here. Starting to slow down a bit because the fish I have yet to catch A+ versions of often don't have unique preferred baits now.

I wouldn't even dream of attempting this without 6+/8+/11 Anglers Big Catch Boost Lv.3 though. That boost is essential.

The only level 3 Big Catch boost I have is Riverside. =(

The game recently gave me another Riverside Big Catch Boost rod, too. It's totally screwing with me.

All I need is one more 8+ Angler or 11 Angler... I'm very close to catching every A+ fish available in rivers/jungles, too.

Not really, the only temporary downside is that you can't access any NNID-related services while your region is changed. Nothing happens with your games, etc.

Just change back to your original NNID region, and your access to NNID services returns at the same time.

I wish I knew this before :(

I wish I knew this before :(

:/ Well, at least you can get Aonuma now (received him minutes ago):

So far, Aonuma is the second one, but I received Reggie and him at home - without any kind of Homepass/relay setup.

Odd, I had to do a McDonalds trip to get Aonuma. My 3DSes are always connected at home and at work but I had no idea Aonuma was out until I saw it here.

Aonuma got me a golden koi sighting. One I already had an A+ for. Sigh.

I think my local Home Depot deactivated too :/ I always got something there and most Starbucks here don't give anything anymore, either. Stinks, because now it's much harder to get people, outside of cons. I'm still ONE puzzle box away in Monster Manor, too! Hope I run into someone again that will make that pop up...

Do you think Pokemon Go can boost Streetpass?

Not really. Saw tons of people walking around tonight and only got one whole street pass. It's really slowing down, but I still have so many games and birthdays to complete!

This whole no Nintendo Zones in Germany now is killing me. I only have 2 games left to finish out the tickets (1 each) and then a little less than half the birthdays.

Warrior's Way, Still about 70 fights from the fight 300.
Ultimate Angler, still need a few mystery fish.

It's very difficult to get Plaza Tickets on Streetpass Squad, if there's no Relay Stations. Finland never had them, so I'm on my own. My GF also has a 3DS, but she does not want to pay for those games, so that's that.

BTW can you only meet each person once on Streetpass Mansion? I usually can spawn them when I first meet them but if I try second time, they just won't appear. I only need about 40 new puzzle boxes, and that game is all done.

So I finally figured out what was behind the seemingly unpredictable nature of why the gauge on mystery catches would reset randomly.

When you get a sighting off another angler, not only does the sighting pass to you, but their progress on said catch as well. Meaning, if they only got 25% of the way through on their attempt to fish the mystery catch, then you'll inherit that 25% gauge during that session. This seems to take priority over any previous attempts you've made for said catch. This may also mean that, if the angler that passed you the sighting caught the fish, then you would inherit an empty gauge.

What is left unclear is if the sighting was passed through means other than the angler attempting to fish it - I would think that in these circumstances the same rules as boss fish apply. Remember, besides the angler fishing it on their last run, there are other means of triggering mystery sightings:
  • Certain last played 3DS games cause anglers to give Cheep Cheep or Blooper sightings.
  • Every 10th pass triggers a mystery sighting.
  • Special Miis from Nintendo usually trigger a mystery sighting.

This actually makes A LOT of sense. There were some spots, where I swear I already had the gauge up to like 90% before it ran away, and go back to see it only at 25% or whatever.

Well, at this point I only have a few left, and more chances are better than no chances. I haven't gone out much lately, so I've been taking advantage of any street pass I get. The hardest thing now is the LAST Monster Manor puzzle box, since it requires you to run into someone you've ran into before, and even then there's only a chance.

Finally completed the first round of Street pass Quest. 168 heroes, half of them obtained with coins and the other half from the relay at GAME. literally I was waiting in front of the shop until the light went green every monday (and a few times that I entered and ended buying amiibos). Six miis maximum every time.

FINALLY I got my 50th puzzle box!! Took so long to run into people again for a 2nd+ time, since I wasn't going to my usual places for a while. Now it's time to fill up ALL the floors (because I feel like completing it), and then get to the 50th floor.

I used to get hits from McDonalds here in Germany before they shut that down. Now all I get is a few people every now and then that don't own any of the games and can't help me.

I have about 60-70 puzzle pieces left to get out of a total 1,612. I get about 8-10 street passes a day Monday-Friday (carry it to and from work). It's getting really hard to get pieces these days. Today I had 9 street passes and only one puzzle piece :-/

Does anyone know the total number of puzzle pieces for North American systems? It took me ages to finish the Devilish Brain Training puzzle because that game didn't get released here in Europe (I own a NA system).

I need to attend some sort of gaming convention and pick up a bunch of pieces.

Exactly what I've suggested, and even any anime cons will have huge traffic of 3DS carries, since they often have gaming rooms and tournies etc. I've finished all of my puzzles thanks to cons and other gaming trade shows. I'm so close to completing a few games right now, and I wouldn't have even been close if it wasn't for con traffic.

Depends where you go. I still have places I go to that get me a ton of people. Cons are still great places, too.

All the spots are dead in my city. No McDick's, no BBY, no HD. I go to my local college and get the same 2-3 people every now and then. It's just not worth it anymore.

I take my 3DS out with me when I want to play a game while waiting while I'm out. Homepass was a wonderful solution to the poor Streetpass rate of 3DS this gen. Similar to how AR save hacking fixed the lack of DQIX map streetpasses back on DS!

edit: I last used Streetpass Mii Plaza over 10 months ago!

Sweet! New streetpass games AND we can hold more Streetpasses at once. Thanks Nintendo!
The direct in EU said that was a premium/VIP only feature which kind of deflates my hype quite massively (as I refuse to buy that POS).

On the Direct they said it was available right after the Direct finished, so I think you can just update via the eShop.
StreetPass Mii Plaza isn't updated via the eShop, open the software instead and check for updates is the leftmost option...which I just tried in Europe and got told I'm up to date...great...
