All of the polls have been right when it comes to Trump.

Most of the Republican primary polls had him leading, but yet no body believed he would win the nomination. But he did

Hillary keeps getting plagued by bullshit scandals week after week, and it doesn't matter if they are false...the American people will eat that shit up.

Assange promised more leaks...so this shit show will continue and expect Trump to keep raising steadily..he will squeeze out every white vote there is to get and then some....don't forget the 10-15% of minorities with the same "fuck you I got mine" mentality that will also more than likely vote for the orange clown.

If we keep brushing the thought of a Trump presidency off, because for some reason we are certain it can't happen then we will be in for a big surprise this November.

My family and I are right on his chopping block.

Donate and volunteer. It's all we can do now.

I'm a Singaporean born Indian currently studying Film in America. I hope to make a career in America, a country that I knew I wanted to be a part of ever since I was a kid. I'm finanly here, studying in college, with friends who I finally feel comfortable with. With a loving American girlfriend.

And yet, if I don't shave for a week, people look at me funny. And those people are flocking to vote for Donald Trump and his "policies".

If and when I immigrate to America, it will not be illegal. But I don't want to be in a country fueled by hate, led by a man and his cult of followers propelled by anger and blind hatred.

So please, vote. I can't help myself in this regard, but you can help people like me.

You should look at some of the polling aggregates a bit more. This is a typical polling bump for him so far.On a normal day with no polling bump he's usually polling in the high thirties or low fourties. With a polling bump he moves to around 42% or 43% and drops again once the bump wears off.Sometimes after these bumps Hilary is able to get above 45% or even close to 50% at times.People do need to make sure they are not complacent in this election even though the chance of him winning is still pretty low because of his consistently poor performance in polls. The only way he can win right now is if third parties steal a ton of votes from Hilary.

Browsing through reddit these days really does make me feel scared/angry. Maybe they're the sane ones and I'm crazy for thinking a few (major/minor) flaws in a candidate makes her unelectable. I worry how much it represents the electorate, and how many really will vote to say "Fuck Hillary and the most progressive platform in DNC history because I feel it's all against me."

People think the candidate who's been a democrat for nearly fifty years being quietly, and not in a way that is any way legitimate rigging, favoured by that party, over someone who joined last year is corruption. They think because their ideal candidate isn't part of the race this year, to throw all the progress he made away for something as petty as their misplaced pride. And now people are piling on anything that supports their message, sometimes lacking in the critical thought to push through the bullshit.

I'm not sure this is all able to go away. Someone tell me these people are all a fringe, in a mass of subscribers, comments, and updates, that is more visible than is proportional. Please. Or else I'm not sure how we can get through to such a large chunk that just won't listen...

There is no October Surprise. There never has been but the right always threatens one. Remember the tape of Michelle Obama saying "whitey" or something? The proof that Barack Obama is a Muslim? The evidence that shows Hillary personally killed people in Benghazi? None of it exists but the right believes all of it exists.

The closest we've gotten to October surprise was Mark Foley and the page scandal and the 2006 midterm election.

While the aggregate polling does favor Clinton....we haven't seen a populist demagogue like Trump get nominated by a major party...Nothing seems to stick to him. He has called immigrants rapists and murderers, he has proposed a ban on Muslims entering the U.S. He has threatened to pull out of NATO and not honor the U.S. commitment to it.

For fucks sake, Russia has been exposed as trying to influence the race in Trumps favor. His advisors are all cozy with Putin and all this hasn't affected him in the slightest.

To put this shit into perspective in 2012 Romney's 47% comment was enough to sink him.

Trump's xenophobia and anti-immigrant rhetoric resonates deeply with the majority of uneducated/rural/working class whites and don't forget all of the people that would love to see it all burn down, then we have the bernie or busters/greens and who knows what percentage of minorities share the "fuck you i got mine" mentality but you can bet your ass they're out there and will come out to vote for Trump.

Expect Wikileaks to keep the leaks coming...it doesn't help that the every thing sticks to Hillary whether the scandals are false..the American people WILL eat that shit up.

I find it weird that many Sanders supporters don't understand that Sanders would be more effective with a Democrat President than a Republican.

Don't worry, he will continue to fight on and call dnc on Its shit. He has a megaphone now. His revolution will continue. He has already accomplished quite a bit. The Hillary supporters saying he wouldn't accomplish anything were 100 percent wrong. In fact, that is why you fight and fight to the end.

On this forum Sanders was completely misunderstood. He was called an egomaniac staying on the race for his own gain. He stayed and fought to get his ideas on the platform. As someone who voted for Hillary in 08, what she got out of staying to the end was different. It was a big cabinet position to strengthen her presidential run later. Sanders was demonized on this forum, when instead all progressives should be thanking him for having the courage to run against Clinton and pull the party to the left.

Now onto Sanders supporters. Also misunderstood here. Bernies personality was appealing but it was always about the ideas he was saying. That's why some of them turned on Warren and even Sanders himself. It was always the ideas, not the person. (As someone who hates Fanboyism #Imwithher or yaas Queen really rub me the wrong way ). A fair strategy for these folk is to keep asking Hillary to earn their vote all the way to November. Much like Sanders you keep fighting till the end and compromise when you have too. It's much more effective than the Obama strategy of giving half of the house away when you start negotiations. If Hillary thought she had all these voters in the bag, she would move harder right. A bit of tug from the left is not a bad thing. Of course, this is not saying this is what everyone will do, but if you find it hard to swallow the Hillary pill then consider this strategy. Notice how it ends with still voting at the end.

I got your back. I only hope enough others do, too.

Cory Booker last night was amazing. The Mario Cuomo cut in was similarly amazing.

My girlfriend lives with a disability, so it was extremely nice for the ADA to get a nod and for them to capitalize on Trump's terrible comments.

Hillary keeps getting plagued by bullshit scandals week after week, and it doesn't matter if they are false...the American people will eat that shit up.
They eat it up because of her handling/responses. She LOOKS like she's hiding something whether she is or isn't.

2 biggest GOP fights:

Emails - the American people saw someone under investigation. They saw that someone sift through and delete potential evidence that could possibly be incriminating. To them, you don't get to pick and choose what evidence is relevant, that's the job of the investigators. She then lied to the public with a straight face and came clean to the FBI. Then the FBI absolutely plastered her in their briefing, said if it was anyone else there would be consequences, but not for her.

Benghazi - what difference does it make, right? People died and who gives a shit what was the reason. It's not like we can do more to fix holes to prevent the loss of life or take better precautions. It's like you not taking care of your vehicle, you have a loose ball and joint on a tie-rod and it snaps on the expressway causing you to crash at highways speeds into a family of 3, killing them. Not like preventative maintenance would have mattered, right? What difference does it make? They are already dead. Nothing we can do now. Oops!

- that's how it reads to people: incompetence, lies, cover-ups.

It doesn't matter what the truth is if every move you make looks like you are covering something up. People see that as smoke and where there is smoke - there's fire. That's just common convention and you can't fault people for questioning her absolutely atrocious handling of both situations to the point where you want to tell her to zip her lip, that's she's only giving ammo to the opposition.

None of that instills confidence. I don't blame people for lapping it up because the optics paint a really shitty picture :|

Not trying to pile on the only candidate worth a vote this November, but if you removed her name from both situations and presented this to everyone, including GAF, people would call for her head. Anyone looking at either HANDLING of those situations (handling of, optics), regardless of outcome, saying it's gravy is lying through their teeth.

It looks and smells like poop and that's a problem for a lot of people. This is why this election has come down to -

Hillary
Pros: not Trump
Cons: Hillary

Trump
Pros: not Hillary
Cons: Trump

If Johnson has, what, 9% in the recent polls and Stein 3% - that's a lot of people who don't like either.

Disclaimer:
For the record, because this is GAF, no I'm not voting for Trump or 3rd parties - I'm just trying to put some perspective on what I quoted above. I feel if I don't say this I'll get blasted for shit I never said. Also, this is my perspective and anecdotal based loosely on interactions with people who feel they have to support Hillary by default but aren't happy about it. Sad I have to put a disclaimer but I see how the Hillary die-hards here attack people.

Still struggling with the fact 'Bernie of bust' is even a thing, I mean, is this the first election these people are following? Is politics so fractured that people refuse to vote or vote out of spite if their horse doesn't win the primaries? That's just so stunningly stupid. You can be disappointed but this is just cutting your nose off to spite your face.

Especially when the alternative isn't Romney or McCain it's Donald fucking Trump. I hope the United States doesn't jump the shark and all these people are just full of shit and/or will grow up within the next few months.

Be careful with Reddit. It's a bit of a poor barometer I think. The way Reddit works makes it quite easy for boisterous communities to effect what's on display. It's a mess there.

There's a lot of hooplah over voting third party, yet I checked Johnson/Stein subs and they were relatively empty and slow. There's also a very active Trump community there that does a lot of work to get his narrative going. You'll notice they all use similar statements, memes, and language. "Shill" "cuck" "beta" etc etc. It's the same people. You see it on Twitter, Youtube, Facebook. I don't recall Trump ever using this kind of language.

I've been reading the Republican and Conservative subs lately and people there are still on the Cruz/Kasich train, though there are not many.

tldr; Reddit makes it easy for noisy groups to plague everything.

Clintons biggest concern should not be the day to day swings, but the fact that they are essentially tied. The fact that There is a huge enthusiasm gap combined with the fact that there is literally nothing Trump can do to lose his base of support should be worrisome.

Trump's base is locked in and he won't drop below it, Hillary is just waiting for the next scandal to drop.

Can anyone tell me what situation could happen to Donald to possibly lead to Hilllary running away with the election? On the flip side, think about what can happen to Hillary to do the same. This is what should worry all of the Hillary is ok folks.

I enjoyed the post Bernie speech interviews on MSNBC. One girl was in tears and was implying he still has a chance in the call today. She also said how none of the people on today were Bernie people (which wasn't his Congressional supporter on earlier and then you also at least had Warren who is similarly progressive) and how it was insulting to put him on so late (meanwhile its actually a huge honor to have the keynote speech). Also every Sanders supporter was like "I believe and trust anything Bernie tells me' and when asked "Bernie says to believe him that Clinton is the best option, will you vote for her?" they all responded with a no and basically it's a feeling why it's a no. It does feel like a lot of spite that since Bernie lost they would rather not vote or vote 3rd party ignoring that both have a strong likelihood of getting Trump elected. Its like they can't see the forest for the trees.

The real story when all is said and done is how many people tune into the DNC this week. It should be a good gage for Hillary's overall enthusiasm factor.

The remaining people like this are basically cult members except with the odd fact that they won't listen to who they've latched on to.

You're right, I looked up the Swift Boat and they formed in may 2004, but ran the first ad literally the week AFTER the DNC 04. Man that was a pro organization

Off the top of my head, I think I'd say the Swift Boat ads were the most disgusting political ad campaign I've seen in my lifetime. How the fuck could anyone disrespect or insult another American's service in Vietnam? I don't care if they were just there to clean the bathrooms, if you went over into that meat grinder, you deserve gratitude. The fact that those ads were made to support a president who never even served is doubly vile.

Apparently the roll call is being held extra early and out of the spotlight to avoid any mishaps?

I don't really know if this is true or not, Reddit was all in a fury over it.

Well there's no reason to denigrate those who serve, but Vietnam was itself a disgusting and unnecessary war.

It is indeed sad and part of the irony of the Clinton fans attacking Sanders fan. IMO, if you wanna vote 3rd party, then go for it. You don't like either candidate and are discouraged by the rigged system. If you want to vote for Trump, then go for it, you don't like the establishment and can't trust Clinton or the DNC due to the evidence we have at hand. You shouldn't have to put a disclaimer for that.

it's indeed sad that a standard normal part of political discussion in "actually justifying the things that you say" gets ignored in favor of rote whining about how other people on an internet forum are being mean to you

Serious question, how much of the media spotlight is on the Bernie-Booers over the actual convention?

Fox news is a given but what about everyone else?

I'm well expecting Assange to hang onto something that makes Hillary look like she had someone killed but only if you already believe she's had people killed or something until the weekend before election day

Either that or someone's racist abortion jokes

Serious question, how much of the media spotlight is on the Bernie-Booers over the actual convention?

Bernie or Bust crowd attracted a lot of attention early on, but I think the primetime speakers ended up taking the spotlight back, particularly Michelle and Bernie.

It does appear that a lot of the busters are young and got swept up way too hard in the idea that they're part of a revolution. It's really depressing how they refuse to be pragmatic to prevent the hope of Bernie's message from being quashed in the long term, but thankfully they seem to just be a vocal minority. Most of the jeers I was hearing last night seemed to be started by one guy.

im worried that he will get heckled,

Bill has the habbit of giving two types of responses when heckled:
a) he asks them what issue, then says his thoughts on it
b) confronts them by calling them rude for interrupting

I'm worried Bill is gonna have a couple shots backstage and complain about Obama or Sanders without thinking twice again

it seems like Michelle's speech & Bernie's full throated endorsement are -rightfully- stealing the spotlight

It's almost quaint to look back on a time when one bullshit line of attack could destroy a candidate. Now we live in a time when actual truths far more damaging are just noise.

Great post.

Michelle, Warren and Bernie completely turned the narrative around.

Michelle especially.

Ah okay, not as bad as I feared when I first heard about it. I knew if anything embarrassing would come out of this it would be from the protesters.

Is it too optimistic to think that it won't continue the next day?

Think I'm not going to watch the roll call vote. I have a feeling that is when its going to get ugly again. I don't have time for that nonsense.
