In retrospect the way Hillary handled her loss in 2008 will be viewed as historic; it set a precedent for how Democrats unify after a fiercely contested primary. Bernie himself also deserves enormous credit for following that example and turning this into a party tradition.

On my 18th birthday I cast my first vote in the American political process ever for Sanders.

Though I came to view some of his ideals in a more critical light, I can say that his fight was always for the better, and he's achieved much more than I expected.

Today I know that although my vote was officially thrown away as a result of acclimation, realistically it goes forth. This revolution had better not die in a fire, but burn for years.

I know I'm more encouraged by the progress.

I'm glad Sanders kept everything together.

I'm honestly really frustrated with many Sander's supporters, and really anybody who complained about him "selling out" when he endorsed Hilary.

A 74 year old Democratic Socialist Secular Jew got 45% of the popular vote in the primary of a major political party, has annoyed and pushed the Democrats to embrace a more progressive platform while integrating himself into it, altering its voting process with super delegates, and made/collaborated with the nominee address several issues not addressed before.

That's yuge. And ignoring the months of fuckery that happened because he only got 90% of what he was aiming for does a huge disservice to the contribution that his mere presence had on the Democrats.

You don't stay in politics at 74 without a damn good supply of patience.
