Of all the things to get upset over, a dumb little off handed remark is among the lamest.

Again, this is not an isolated remark that could be so easily dismissed as a "cute" joke. He's being either dangerously malicious or dangerously stupid here.

Read the quoted below:

Just leaving this here for all of youse saying this was a "joke"

So... let's just say that Trump does win this november...(hopefully it never get to that) Isn't there some high position group or person that can decide "No, this guy is too reckless/dangerous/unfit to be the president." if Trump keep saying more crap like this?

Or is it always "we're forced to accept the will of the people, no matter how much of a disaster it will be?"

lol so much for democracy, that would be terrible

Let's put it this way, in a simplified manner: Clinton has access to important state emails, and ttakes them home on a USB stick when she was told she shouldn't. Trump is asking for Russia to break into her house and steal them.

The entire point of the scandal with Clinton's email servers is that someone could have stolen the emails more easily if they had wanted to. Fortunately nothing happen. But Trump is asking for the very theoretical worst-case scenario of the Clinton email scandal to come true.

That's why it's bad, and worse than Clinton taking home the emails.

What exactly are the Russians going to hack? This is about email they would allegedly already possess. No hacking needed.

Trump specifically referenced the missing emails. They were destroyed by Clinton attorneys. No hacker from any country can hack Hillary to get them now. And they were not government related anyway. This is like 50th on the list of dumb things he's said.

LOL - he called on a foreign country (one that is not friendly with the US no less) to do it.

Why are you casually ignoring that?

Yeah we'll see about that.

I don't buy it. His supporters just don't give a shit, that much has been proven. He'll blame it on the liberal media, his base will eat it up, and he just gets more free press.

I've heard for months now about comment x or story y sinking him, and he's leading the national polls and polls in most swing states right now. I honestly think the echo chamber here has created a bubble of distortion. We're not seeing the race for what it is.

His comments on the Orlando shooting took a hit on his numbers. He isn't immune to bad press.

Endorsing political espionage is now acceptable. This is unbelievable. He's a day away from starting to get intelligence briefings. I hope his security clearance is denied.

No.

This is serious. If you really think that this isn't a massive transgression, I can only ask you to take a step back and try to get some perspective on this.

I think you might be confusing the 2 different email stories here. Russia (allegedly) has access to the DNC emails. The emails Trump is referring to are the State Dept emails that Clinton kept on private servers.

It's already been made pretty clear that all sorts of foreign interests prodded at the servers while they were up. It's not clear if Russia or China or whoever actually got in, but it seems pretty likely when you account for nation-state vs private server IT (considering the offense-defense discrepancy in IT as well). Also, whether or not the server was hacked, FOIA requirements were dodged, so mission accomplished there...

Am I treasonous if I say that I'd like to know if there's anything dubious in those emails as well, and it would be pretty sweet if some Russian hacker sent them over to The Intercept?

He can be impeached at any time. The Republicans would have no problem joining with the Democrats to kick him out of office if he did something unfit. They would be more then happy to have Pence fill that position.

You can't treat the primaries like the general election for that exact reason, though.

I'm not?

His comments about NATO? After the nomination
His comments about Russia? After the nomination.
His comments about the heritage of the judge in his Trump U case? After the nomination.
His comments about BLM? After the nomination.

I get it, the primaries are a different animal. Yet, his approval is on a huge upward trend, even after these stories. So clearly they're not damaging as much liberals hoped it would.

Trump was right, he could shoot shoot someone and his supporters would still defend him.

Exaaaactly.

His past comments HAVE hurt him in polls.

He saw a bounce in the polls after the RNC, but other than that the only thing that has helped him was when Hillary dropped after the e-mail thing. His only rise was after last week.

This will drop him back down to 40%.. all those Rockefeller Republicans and NeoCons who were holding their nose are going to go back to worrying that he is worse than Hillary and just stay home.

Like I said in another thread: the worst case scenario here is where Trump actually acts on what he's saying. Its kinda hard to kick him out for following through on his promises. There's no mechanism here to remove him once elected, no matter how bad things get for America. Unless he is found guilty of a crime in which case he can be impeached.

This story is absolutely blowing up now.

Not sure how some of you could come to the conclusion that this was somehow not a big deal.

Anyone defending this as a joke should be ashamed with themselves. This is a long pattern of Trump especially when he continues to double down on it.

So, Hillary put our national security in jeopardy by having classified e-mails that could have been vulnerable to access by the Russians, and Trump's response is that Russia should hack into those possibly classified e-mails?

It all ties into a dangerous concoction of a guy who keeps telling us "I AM NOT READY FOR THIS JOB" and we keep ignoring it all.

No.

Come on dude please don't ignore what has been said.

I'm not trying to defend Trump or anything. It just seems like a lame attempt at a joke. Obviously those emails do not exist anymore. Saying that anyone should hack into her account and find those emails is of course impossible at this point.

So yeah go ahead and be outraged, I'm sure as heck not gonna stop ya.

I'm not outraged, I'm scared.

So how long before a number of neo-conservatives come out and endorse Hillary, much less denounce Trump?

Is there a group of people Trump hasn't pissed off? Every day that goes by, I get more confident that Trump will talk himself into the worst beating since Reagan mollywhopped Mondale.

I agree. IF IT HAPPENED, it would help our national security apparatus to know that Russia compromised the server and what classified info they got, if any. That's why I think that if it happened, Putin will sit on it until she wins and then use it when it becomes necessary (i.e. after sending little green men into Lithuania to "save" ethnic Russians).

He tweeted this after the conference.

If Russia or any other country or person has Hillary Clinton's 33,000 illegally deleted emails, perhaps they should share them with the FBI!

Does that, in anyway, read like a joke?

Damn, that Trump/Russia conspiracy is looking less and less conspiracy-ish. Or he's just a complete buffoon who just happens to line up with Russia's political interests... either way, he should receive backlash for this. Publicly endorsing foreign political espionage against his own country is so beyond gross.

He's not joking. He doubled down on twitter and told a reporter to "be quiet" when she tried to press him. He sincerely thinks what he said was okay.
