The International 2016 (Aug 3rd - 13th)

Vgr yang didn't get his visa right? Should probably be mentioned under vgr's description, and that he's the highest mmr player in China

So basically the miracle and arteezy of China

I heard he had troubles but never saw an update. I'll look into it. There's also Sep from LGD who was failing his Visa interviews that I need to double check.

Apparently VGR.Yang has his final interview today. It would be pretty cool if GabeN sent him over in a private jet or something if he gets it.

Source. I'll hold off on updating their lineup and description, but it's likely Tong "mikasa" Junjie will be standing in if Yang fails his final interview.

There's always that one play which defines a TI. That eg vs cdec chaos dunk is TI5's. Just like how dat kyxy rp was TI3's moment

READY FOR THE THE DUNK!

IN FROM UNIVERSE!

IT'S A DISASTAAAAAAAAAA!

Shame I have work this week. Would love to be lazy and just watch TI.

Rooting for OG and No Diggity. I wanna see some good Dota.

Hope they have just as much media for this TI as they did last year. The player vids were so good.

Can't wait to rig up a multi twitch setup for all the pods / crowd cam, etc.

Been watching the last couple of TIs but I still have no clue what's going on in DOTA2. I still enjoy the exciting bits and the fun players from across the globe.

It's pretty easy to understand once you get the basics down. You could always watch a few games on the Newcomers stream to get a better idea of how the game works.

As someone who wasn't watched dota since the last international:

1. Synderen is playing again? Lmao.

2. I was going to go for my boy ROTK but apparently this is another Vici team? Lame.

3. Gonna have to root for OG because <3 n0tail and Fly.

Still don't really feel like picking back up dota, I think I burned out for the rest of my life. But the International is always worth a watch.

Is Tobi still casting?

Ahhh my favourite time of year. Have we done any kind of predictions? I'll be going in supporting my boy Puppey & co. along with Team Liquid, Newbee & Na'vi. OG will no doubt be the team to beat, though. I don't think we'll see a team surprise us as much as CDEC did last year, but Tnc or Wings certainly have potential to knock out some big names.

Cannot wait for the main event to start. I've taken Thursday & Friday off work so I can watch from day 3 onwards. Given how the games have gone so far in this patch, this tourney has the potential to be the best TI ever and I sure hope it is. I haven't actually played any Dota since Overwatch came out which is a real shame but I just don't have time for it unfortunately. Still love the game though.

ready to watch my boy Artour play some dotes

and get blown the fuck out probably but whatever

RTZ has been playing some seriously good Dota, he was argubly Secret's strongest performer at Starladder IMO. Secret just need to go in with level heads, being underdogs with potential is a lot better than the insane hype they had at TI5 getting to their heads.

Is there still any American team worth giving a shit about?

Still rooting for Dendi and his boys, he stood for his team when no one else would, fuck other overrated bitch boys who run as soon as things start going sour for their team.

1. Yup! He actually has an impressive track record of getting teams through the Qualifiers. I've watched several of Escape's games and syndereN is okay, but he's not as good of a player as he is a commentator. I wish him the best of luck though.

2. Yea, the Chinese scene went through a huge reshuffle after the Shanghai Major, and now organizations are putting a lot of emphasis on having multiple teams with a lot of newer players. There's Vici Gaming and Vici Gaming Reborn, Ehome and Ehome.Keen, CDEC as well as CDEC.Y and CDEC.A, and Newbee as well as Newbee.Y. I think LGD also has a farm team, but I'm not sure.

3. That's who I'm rooting for :D

If EG gets it together they are the returning champions, as well as an American team. Secret technically has more North American players than European ones, and compLexity is an "American Team" in the sense that they live year round in the United States and compete in all the US tournaments (but 3 of them are Swedish). I would say all of them are worth a damn.

Just checked upon EG roster, and last time I caught up a match Universe was still playing for Secret ( He laster for what? 2 months at most?) glad to see shuffle deadlines are still non existent and the competitive scene is still as unstable as ever.

I guess those are all teams worth keeping track of, doubt EG will be returning to be much of a challenge, with Zai being still kind of fresh on the game and the team going through several recent re-shuffles, would gladly be proven wrong tho.

That is it, anyone that votes for Jugg and not wisp can feel free to remove me from their facebook friends. I will not stand for juggernaut voters

Well EG and Team Secret were forced to play through the Open Qualifier. Team Secret was decently close to losing 1 or 2 of the Bo1's they had to play (almost got backdoored by a Russian pub stack). Universe just didn't fit in with Secret. He's a kinda greedy position 3, and Secret already had the greediest 1 and 2 in the entire pro scene--there's only so much farm you can get in a game. Universe and Bulba swapped, Aui left EG and is now a Sub/Coach for Secret, Fear moved from 4 to 1, and zai came in to fill the support role.

In the end it was just a reminder that you can't take 5 amazing players and throw them together and expect them to dominate. Secret really dropped the ball replacing w33 and Misery, and EG failed before them replacing Aui with RTZ.

Anyone else having no luck putting in a secret shop preorder?

I go to the final step and it just hangs with the spinny wheel for like 30 minutes.

Guess I'll try again later.

Fact: Alliance has won every TI that is a multiple of 3.

Fact: 6 is a multiple of 3.

IMO, Secret is an American Team, and they likely will get a top 6 finish. EE and RTZ are Canadian, Bulba is from the US, and their two coaches, 1437 and Aui 2000, are also Canadian.

I really don't think EG is going to do well. DC is likely the "American" team that is going to do the best, but they are mostly a European Roster that has been living in the US for the last 6 months.

Fact: 6 is a multiple of 3.

Fun Fact: Alliance is the first TI winner to not qualify for the main event (TI5).

I'm going again this year, will be there for the last couple days. It's gonna be weiiiiiiird!

feel free to say hi and there should probably be a gaf meetup

Looks like Valve is cutting one major for next year. So two majors plus TI. That sounds like a good plan to me, assuming third parties can make use of the new breathing room and pick up a bit of the slack.

One this year and one next Spring, so nothing aligning closely with Chinese New Year. Hopefully that means no more Chinese major.

I haven't played Dota in months, but damn do I still love watching it. So excited for this.

Hoping for an Alliance return to glory!
