So this is gone?

Bummer city.

Not a huge fan of what I read in the spoiler thread regarding certain roles.

Can you tell us in spoilers what happens in it? It seems like something big happened with the Joker.
I think I know when it would have happened in the movie, and I'm glad they cut it. The third act being retooled to remove it made the ending impact far better.

There's that scene and one other which I didn't see fromm the trailers, so surprisingly very little. And joker is, as someone said, about 5-10%. You are seeing Suicide Squad for the team, not for Joker. He's only there for Harley but Batman's solo film will definitely be Joker's true moment in film, and Leto will fucking kill it. What little he had on screen was really good, loved it.

I mean I'm plenty excited for the squad themselves (Katana's my champ), but it always sucks when a genuinely interesting looking beat gets removed. Joker's fucked up face, who he's supposedly leaving to die, that looks great.

I'm just really curious what this movie was originally looking like before Ayer started to tinker. Especially considering the relatively soft response early impressions seem to be giving.

if an obscure franchise like SS can make over 100m in a weekend on August, then peoeple are still thirsty for comic book movies. I mean damn.

People seriously overstate the "genre fatigue" thing. There are fads, and trends, yeah, but we're nowhere near the point where that'll kick in. IIRC, during the height of the Western boom (the most frequently pointed to comparison), there were between 60-100 Westerns dropping every year. Five or so comicbook movies, even heavily advertised blockbuster ones, is nothing in comparison.

There's only "genre fatigue" if people continue to do the same things with the same approaches. At some point, people are probably going to get sick of Deadpool, Iron Man, etc. But when they do, you move to new ground and show something that hasn't been seen before.

I think his tinkering was rightfully needed. This isn't Joker's movie, as much as I would have loved it to have been. I still came out of the cinema pleased with Leto's performance and definitely pleased with the Squad's performances as well. It was very much their movie, and I think Ayer knew that so had to chop a bit off Joker to make sure it flowed.

Just made me all the more excited for solo Batman v Joker, which will be amazing with Leto and Batfleck's performances. I want to say so much more but I can and dont want to. You guys are gonna really like this one, it was well made, well directed and the cast was fantastic with their roles.

Someone in Suicide Squad audience just yelled "Eff Marvel" [expletive deleted]. Director David Ayer, from the stage, shouted it back.

At first I was like 'That sounds like something JC would totally make up'

I was wrong

It's good that they kept the focus on the Squad first and foremost.

BvS had terrible legs. It had worse legs than every single Twilight film and that franchise was known for dying quickly after OW. It had worse legs than Watchmen (barely cracked 2).

140M opening with a 2.4 multiplier gets SS over BvS at the domestic BO.

First Zack Snyder's comments on Ant-man now David Ayer's "F*ck Marvel." When BvS reviews came out Snyder looked very stupid now Ayer is in his position but worse if the movie doesn't deliver...

I imagine he was just having a laugh and no one on either side of DC and movie take this stuff as seriously as people on forums seem to.

I think the Ayer's comment is funny, but then again I'm immature and I laughed when Momoa did something similar at a con a year or two back.

When your pile of money from your cinematic universe exceeds Marvel's pile of money from their cinematic universe; then you may sling insults.

Sounds like it was in good fun though like Momoa's comment

Maybe he was saying "Fuck Mar-Vell".

It was probably "Eff Carol Danvers" but got lost in translation

This isn't nothing new with Ayer. It's no secret that the big two are rivals. Playful banter between the two is harmless.

It's just filmmakers and actors having a little fun. Shit ain't as serious as forum people make it out to be, honestly. RDJ talked crap about The Dark Knight, and no one cares.
