Wiat Slaythe, have you seen the movie?

No that's what I've been told.

I didn't ask for details so I have no idea if it's flashbacks only or anything.

Just heard Joker has a rather small part in this and Leto said it was a taste of things to come, not a Joker centric movie.

This film has more of the camera ogling the female lead.

Don't ask me why, but the girls seem to love Harley's depiction and over sexualization / grunge look.

The girl I'm taking out does, anyway ;o .

Serious question :

Will the suicide squad kill more humans than Batman and Superman (or "not saving" in his case) combined ?

Kind of hilarious that it's very likely they DON'T.

I for one can't wait until someone does an actual body count and we find out Bats offed more fools in BvS than the Joker does in SS. Hell, I should make that thread right now.

I though you guys said there wasn't any reshoots? Or where they to add comedy or am I thinking of Rogue one?

There's always reshoots for movies, I think just the rumours that got debunked were that the movie was originally dark and serious and the reshoots completely retooled it to add comedy because outside of the parts in trailers there was no humour - that's what was false.

I've tried my best to avoid spoilers (this thread is making that difficult lol), but to me there is pretty much no way they can do the predictable "Harley turns on everyone and realigns with Joker" without it coming off as the worst kind of predictable and done for the sake of that being how it was done in the comics.

Really the only way they could do it that wouldn't come off bad to me is if it were a big struggle for her character psychologically. Like if she really didn't want to, but being next to Joker was the only place she felt she belonged. Her just willingly going back with Joker would be terrible.

Also, what constitutes "not-saving" for Superman? A murder happens pretty frequently across the globe. Do those count?

Jimmy Olsen is borderline murder from where I stand.

If the asshole can save his girl 30 seconds after Jimmy died, he could save Jimmy too.

No one cares about Jimmy Olsen. His brief time in BvS was the most exciting shit he's ever done. Reeve Superman saved him and then dropped him off in the middle of the desert with no food, water or supplies. Twice.

Maybe she was talking about the first version.

Maybe they added it back during the final editing.

I'm pretty certain it is if I'm remembering correctly. Most of the footage from the trailers I saw, though there's a lot going on I may have missed it. Don't worry, there's plenty of Harley Quinn to enjoy though ;)

Ok answer this please :

Does the joker have a scene we haven't seen in the trailers that is as cool as his bye bye scene ?

Ok so interesting anecdote not about film quality but how visible it is to the public.

Cousins kid just started wearing glasses and I mentioned she looked like she was in Clark Kent mode. She looked at me blankly, not knowing who Clark Kent was. Got onto topic of movies and she pipes up about really wanting to see Suicide Squad. As do a bunch of other people in the room who had no interest in BvS.

I think this movie is going to have a huge opening. Legs will obviously depend on quality, but if it can at least reach "good" it could be a monster hit at this rate.

Clark Kent was only featured in the ultimate cut edition of BvS so that doesn't help.

That might have just been an anomaly not really representative of anything. I have yet to meet a kid who doesn't know who Clark Kent is. Mostly because everyone around me constantly brings up that I look like an Asian Clark Kent. :D

Definitely scenes I had never seen in trailers. Just don't expect this to be a joker movie, it's not. Its a Suicide Squad movie/Captain Boomerang amaze flick.

TDK set the bar so fucking high for comic movies in general and a joker movie too that this was never going to reach it.

I expect a lot of reviews will unfavorably compare Leto to Ledger but I at least hope Ayer and Leto gives joker one of the more memorable performances (if not the most memorable) of the film. Anything less would be a huge disservice to the character.

I suspect Batman solo is where we'll really get to see him flex tho if his joker is any good.

I've never met a kid who didn't know who Clark Kent was. I haven't really talked Superman with a kid for a couple of years, though.

Those poor children. Not knowing the greatness.

I should point out that this is in the UK where comic books have never been a huge thing until the movies, and she was too young to have seen the Superman movies or the TV shows (she's like 15). Also the rest of the room did express shock that she didn't know. However it's still a room of people who didn't see BvS but want to see Suicide Squad. I think it's going to be a big movie with young people. And it's releasing the best time of the year to capitalise on it.

Joker is 5% of this film.

Joker in TDK is 50%.

15?!

Christ. I thought you meant kid as in pre-teen at the most and I'm in the UK too!

Children these days... *grumble grumble*

What is this "iconic" bye bye scene some of you keep talking about?

To be honest me, brothers and friends most remember his line "I'm not going to kill you, I am going to hurt you really REALLY bad" from the first sneak peak.

Ledger set the bar high. Although I felt he was out acted by Gary Oldman in the same movie. But his character wasn't meme worthy, so of course no one talks about Gary Oldman's incredible Commissioner Gordon portrayal. Across all three movies.

TDK wasn't as good as the first half of Batman Begins.
The first half an hour of TDKR is also GOAT tier. A lot of focus on Bruce Wayne being Bruce Wayne and exploring the effects of the Batman persona on his life, it was fantastic. If the entire movie was just that first half an hour, it would already be better than TDK. Might even be the best work Nolan has done to date.

A movie that, as a whole, sets the standard for comicbook adaptations is Watchmen. TDK doesn't come close.

Sorry, but think of it this way, there's not really been anything Superman related for kids other than Man of Steel in the last five years. He's sort of dead to a lot of youth these days. Especially with girls who aren't really interested in Superheroes.

This is the part where I blame Snyder for everything.

DAMN YOU, SNYDER.*

Eh everyone still knows who superman is. But yeah Clark Kent isnt as popular a name in the zeitgeist. To be fair that's with almost every other superhero and their alter ego as well

Everybody knows who Peter Parker, Tony Stark and Bruce Wayne are.

So your almost basically includes "every one of them except the popular ones", Ok then.

Headed to the theater now! Still 4 hrs away from Showtime but idk how early people line up for these first come first serve stuff. If we too early it's in a mall so meh

Devin Faraci - not a review
Can SUICIDE SQUAD Save The DC Movieverse?

He said the reshoots are in the 3rd act.

Ah, yes, the reshoots that were not reshoots at all, but scheduled pick-up shots of Killer Croc because Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje had other commitments? Those ones?

To be clear, I am saying Devin Faraci is a dipshit who lets his Marvel Studios fanaticism cloud his judgement when it comes to his reporting on their Direct Competitor. He's basically a NeoGAF console war shitposter with tenure and his opinion should be understood as such.

They still know who Bruce Wayne is, all is good. Clark is a loser anyway.
