I was thinking paid content that splits the user base or gives people with money advantages.
I get that people want to buy the skins they want. But you can still do that given enough coins. I bought 2 legendary skins since I started playing (level 30-something) and I've only bought 5 or 10 loot boxes, whatever the bundle is.
I do agree they can use a retooling, either reducing duplicates, or upping the pay out for duplicates. But at the end of the day it's still just cosmetics.
And I sorta like the excitement of opening up a pack. Brings me back to the days of opening Pokemon and Yugioh card packs.
It's a better system than Halo does at least. Where you can't even buy the individual items with in game currency. But better than paid map packs.
Games are doing this now because it lets them generate free content. I like overwatch's idea of in game currency so you do eventually get what you want. Rocket league also has a cool system where you can trade in 5 or so items of the same rarity value and get a higher tier item.
