Overwatch gets Summer Games update (new mode in Weekly Brawl, new skins/etc)

I'm seeing a lot of the skins in matches though, hopefully they have increased drop % or something to compensate
 
You could do some cool stuff with Mercy, Torbjorn, Reinhardt and Reaper for Halloween

but expect Trick or Tracer instead
 
I'm kinda lucky because I don't play Zarya or Tracer. So the main skins aren't that appealing to me. A Halloween Mercy though? I'm gonna gamble. >_<
 
I think people forget that videogames aren't cheap to make. Yeah you can pay for more boxes, but you can still earn them. People will still be able to earn new skins at the same rate they used to, now they have more choices.

And rarity is important as it gives special sounds more weight and importance.

It's all good, Blizzard isn't being evil, this game was made perfectly, it took years, Overwatch for president.
 
I got one of Lucio's new skins in the free box but I don't use him so it's whatever. The new game mode is just a ripoff of Rocket League but boring, meh. Not letting people buy the skins with coins is so stupid, way to pass people off from no reason. Like the initial $60 wasn't enough. I could understand for a F2P game, but this just money grubbing at its finest.

True, but the fact that just makes this even more of a fuck-up, as they've put themselves in a lose-lose position where they're going to piss off people no matter what they do.

But to be blunt, if Blizzard flip the switch ASAP to allow these Summer skins to be purchased with coins, the amount of people who will be fucked over will be trivial compared to the people who are currently fucked over by the current setup. And Blizzard could even refund that smaller number of people.

Since we are talking about what we've gotten so far, I've opened 9 loot boxes so far and gotten
America McCree
Swiss Mercy
Track and Field Tracer
Soccer Lucio-skin thing
 
I would definitely be buying loot boxes if they do holiday themed ones. I'd love for them to make the maps a little festive too. I'm gonna guess that's a lot of work but it'd be cool to see them done up a little. Or even some of them. A snowy christmas themed kings row would be rad.

I'm trying to think up of Mei outfits that I'd gamble on.

This new Tracer one is already pushing me to the brink.

There are two ways of earning skins in Overwatch. Getting them randomly in a lootbox, or buying them with coins.

These Summer skins are only available for a narrow timeframe, and Blizzard have decided they can't be bought with coins.

So actually, if you aren't lucky enough to get one randomly within the narrow timeframe, then no, you can't earn them. The "earn them" argument hold water for the regular skins, but not here.

Though I agree with the overall sentiment - not being able to use coins on them is absolute bullshit - at least they seem to have a pretty decent drop rate so getting them isn't so bad. Still, I hope they don't do this again in the future.
 
So as someone who is thinking about getting this: Is the 3VS3 Mode also limited time like the skins? And can you only play as Lucio on it? The pr is confusing to me sorry. XD

The new mode is "a brawl", brawls change every week but i guess this one will last for the entire olympics.
And yeah you only play as Lucio.
 
The 2 that I must have before this event is over is

And Tracers new Legendary, either color

Those are the two hottest things in the set imo

Hence, what makes them rarer, and ehat makes for a viable way of avoiding DLC splitting the base.

They can't very well just give away something that took hard work. The money made will go to furthering the amount of support for years to come.
