No Man's Sky |OT| Hello Worlds.

Just started up again after the patch. Yup, still 30fps.

Which begs the question...

...why did someone apparently employed by Sony and referring to them selves as "That No Man's Sky Guy" tell us that?

You do realize you will see No Man's Sky with 60fps as your output right?

What does one simply do in this game? ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

This game is going to ruin my life. BRING IT ON

Oh gawwwwd! So stealing this!

I cant imagine playing this without a controller. I want to be sitting back and enjoying myself in a chill game like this. Not hunched over a desk with a keyboard. That sounds horrible.

Comfy chair, thick armrests, nice wrist rest, ergonomic mouse, big monitor....doesn't sound too horrible to me.

I guess if you sat in a folding chair with no padding playing the PS4 version on a 32" TV from 10ft away, it probably wouldn't be a great experience either ;)

A solid stable 30 is very playable. Its the frequent dips, even to something like 25 fps that people get upset about it. When the frame rate changes rapidly its very noticeable and annoying imo.

Games like Uncharted 4 where its 30, but a solid 30, run amazingly well.

I'm aware of that, but it's not really the point.

I understood that reference :-)

But they're literally quoting Sean. Word for word

Then they should use the quote of him saying it's not a multiplayer game instead of leaving these open ended responses that leave the possibility open. If you're invested in the game you know what he means, otherwise it's just more confusion.

For game mechanics that require quick reaction times like space dogfights, sub-60 is very noticeable. That's where it'll hurt NMS the most, not the ground combat.

I should've preordered this but I decided to wait on reviews/impressions and also wanted to see how the PC version turned out. May make a trip to Best Buy tomorrow and pick up a PS4 copy if they have one. Then if the PC version turns out to be awesome, I'll just pick it up later.

Nope, same everywhere. Very stable, but 30.

I don't have an issue with the PS4 game being 30, but to come in and say that in a thread where people were deciding between getting the PS4 version and the PC version isn't a great look.

Yeah i was wondering this as well. What's the deal? Why can't we get an explanation?

The IGN insider stuff looked to be 60fps back then but now... not so much from the tiny bits i've seen (mostly on media blackout).

Well, I guess we can say Sean's not the best person to do these kinds of streams. :) I mean I can listen to the rambling and some tech talk but I'm not sure he painted the best picture on what the game is. The streamers do a much better job at that simply because they're just normally playing the game instead of trying to point out certain things or controlling the systems in some way in order to show a feature.

Really glad about seeing some improved stuff, the terrain generation, permanent holes in rocks etc.

Of course he isn't, he's not an entertainer he's a programmer/designer. I totally disagree, I always prefer to hear directly from the creator to get that hidden insight that others can't provide. Plus I love math talk.

Apologies if this has been asked a few times, I didn't see it in the OP
So is the whole universe between the PS4 and PC versions shared? Like I find/name a planet on ps4, someone on PC can see it and go there too? or is it separate for both? Just curious.

I don't think we know that yet.

This game is going to sell a shit load of copies. Even with all the hate for this game, people want to see what it's all about and this game will have a massive zeitgeist at launch.

Just look at the popularity of the stream and this OT.

I think the purpose of Sean's stream was for him to show the patch features, not a But What Do You Do video.

You know what would be neat? To be able to write your own log on each planet you visit or something, like another player lands on your planet an it says:

"Planet Nebulon: Discovered by MegaSackman, he crashed after his ship got hit in a space fight and was forced to live here for a week until his injuries healed and its ship was repaired. To anyone that comes here MS advices to be cautios about creatures and the weather at night".

I'd like to write my own story. :/

Fate conspired in such a way to let me get home from work way early today, so Patch 1.03 is downloading right now. Hype!

Haven't been this psyched up for a game in a long time.

The whole procedural thing has got me by the nuts. Wasn't ever a bug space guy but just the idea of nothing being the same ever is icredibly appealing.

Can't wait to light up, sit back and play.

Thanks Sean and HG.

Hope you guys get a nice long vacation soon.

Is it ok to post gifs of footage here?

Found a cool little trick to move faster (than sprint) while walking around on planets using melee and jetpack.

I'm doing this in a notebook for my own keeping :)
