Pre-load on PS4 just finished. Can't wait to jump in tonight.

I've been in the dark for a few games, especially this one. I may consider picking a copy up tonight or tomorrow.

Do you think Best Buy may have some LEs left?

I think I'm gonna wait it out for PC. Getting the PS4 version WOULD be cheaper for me with GCU benefits from Best Buy, plus a physical copy would always be nice, but I'm also interested in learning about day 1 impressions plus I'm pretty confident that the PC version will be by far the best version technically speaking.

I don't know why, but I love the screen flickers on the cockpit display screens. Gives it kind of an... Aliens vibe. Or something.

People have to wait on DF to figure out if a game is 30 or 60fps?

Yup, I was surprised too. The weirdest comment I saw was "a streamer has a capture card running; he says it's capturing at 60fps but looks like 30fps".

I didn't think it would be that hard to spot...

Shall we start naming yet or is another wipe coming?
I'm curious to know this as well...and in the event of a wipe, basically just what you've named will be gone, correct? Will it remember that I have visited this particular planet or seen this particular animal, and I can go back and name it after it the wipe?

Someone earlier was claiming the wipe was happening tonight (UK time).

I'm wondering where they found this info because I cannot confirm it.

Can you come to a full stop in space? Can you enter a geosynchronous orbit with a planet?

I don't think we'll see things like proper orbital mechanics like we would on say Kerbal Space Program.

I don't think the modeling of chemical fuel systems, etc play a role either.

At least not from what I've seen. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong.

Wait this is happening? They're gonna wipe the servers?

What does that mean, basically have to restart??

They are wiping the servers before the game is officially released. That'll be it.

So people who had early copies will lose their saves.

If you live close to one of their warehouses, that's why you don't usually see your copy of a game ship out when some other people's do. They usually ship it overnight, as far as I know. That's how it was for me, for Uncharted 4.

That makes sense. Though tbh I'd feel more comfortable to see it on a plane or truck; at least I'd know it's moving closer to my hands.

Sean said they were wiping Sunday and then again on Monday, but not when exactly. I assume they wiped before the 1.03 patch went live, so it's probably safe now? However it's hard to be sure...my theory is that Sean pushed the patch live a day early because reviewers were complaining about having to wait to review, so he may be assuming mostly journalists are playing today.

Nah I don't think any of that is in the game. Probably would have been too difficult to implement on this kind of scale.

uhhhhh I assumed that I was cool since the patch is out?

Does anyone know definitively? I mean, the game is out in like 6 hours....

So is this game one big shared universe or my own private universe in which I'll never meet anyone?
It's shared but you'll never meet anyone as it stands because of the size of the galaxy you are in. And if you do somehow run into someone it sounds like it will be a fairly limited encounter.

Also if you find a planet that has been discovered and named by another player, I don't think any of the mining or holes that have been blasted by the pervious player will be there for you.

That's as far as I understand it.

A bit late, but wanted to say fantastic OT and hope everyone enjoys the game! Really looking forward to checking this out.

No game reviews yet?

The huge 1.03 patch that fundamentally changed the way the game is paced, balanced and functions just released TODAY, for everyone including reviewers. Any reviews for the next day or so would have to be based off the older pre-patched version, which no one will be playing at release unless they're playing 100% offline.

Real reviews should be showing up later this week. If you're wary and need a review for confirmation of whether you should by this, it's probably best to wait. Or streams with the patch are live now, if you just want to watch someone gameplay.

Shouldn't you be able to see hundreds if not thousands of people at the center? Unless the "center" isn't some point or planet but instead just a gigantic sphere area? But even then with the likely success this game will have, you should be able to meet hundreds of people if there actually is multiplayer in here.

Found this water paradise planet with HUGE mountains of gold, i never saw gold pre 1.03 so not sure if i should stay here and farm the shit outa this place lol. Wish we could build bases already.

Man, fuck Amazon , last year of prime for me

I had "release date" shipping option hit for no mans sky when I ordered back on March and it says it'll be here on Thursday

I'm just gonna bitch and try to get $20 off , fuck this

Played for another hour before it completely froze my ps4. Nothing I could do but pull the chord...I was just walking on my second planet. Nothing intense was going on. Hope it does not happen too often.

I wiped my save file and will wait until the reset tomorrow to start fresh.

I believe this is the latest info re: multiplayer.

To be super clear - No Man's Sky is not a multiplayer game. Please don't go in looking for that experience.

The chances of two players ever crossing paths in a universe this large is pretty much zero.

We do have some online features and easter eggs so people can know they are playing in the same universe. It's about cool "moments"

I mean theoretically space is so huge that even at the middle of a galaxy where stars are closer together finding a single person would still be impossible.

Not sure what happens at the center in this game though regarding other players.

So what has been the feedback from the people who have early copies on the changes brought about by the 1.03 patch? Been trying to scan the thread but it is moving QUICK
