you should all just watch galaxy quest with me.

Alan Rickman, Sam Rockwell and Tony Shalhoub all kill it in this, they're so fucking funny

I want the giant behemoths to be friend-able. Having one as your buddy in it's natural habitat sure would be badass AF. All the other creatures/life forms would stare and ponder in complete awe.

And if we could ride some as well(waaay wishful thinking lol) later in the game's life cycle, then fuuck yeaaaah.

Watched the tail end of LegacyZero's stream and now my interest in this is off the charts. Not sure if it's worth pre-ordering; I know I'm going to get it anyway and a better ship is cool, I guess, but I don't want to ruin the early game experience by already being able to jump around the galaxy. Seems like cheating. Sucks that the PC version is delayed; fingers crossed it's a quality port or I'm going and getting a PS4.

I am tempted to buy the digital so I could play at midnight, but with the LE coming tomorrow, that would be incredibly stupid.

Hmm lol

Does someone want to buy my disc for $40 shipped?

i guess they may be in theory, right? you'd have to try feeding them stuff?

Procedural art without rules = a soupy mess of stuff

Procedural art with layers upon layers of rules and constraints = No Man's Sky

If you're interested, I highly recommend the GDC talk from NMS's art director. He talks about how his mindset went from hating and fearing procedural generation and procedural art to understanding and learning how to master it

How I Learned to Love Procedural Art

Oooh thanks, More_Badass. That sounds like a great watch. Will watch once home. This kind of stuff fascinates me a lot as a videogame enthusiast. It's cool to see how artistry interfaces with math, and how similar they can be in the end.

An aside: I was screwing around with Prisma (the photo app) earlier, and thinking about the math that went into it's very artistically-amazing filters. Made me think about NMS and how similar it is while utilizing a range of more sophisticated variables that include not only visuals but interaction.

Given that, I am pumped just to fly and walk through some legit art and math. If there is some fun gaming shit that goes along with it: bonus!

Perhaps a seemingly simple outlook, but I fucking LIVE for games like this: Games where the vision of the developer is front and center, and while playing you are interacting with it directly.

So for some reason, even though I've had this game pre-ordered with Amazon for just over an entire year, my shipping status was changed to Friday, August 12th, and arriving between the 18th and the 25th. I've never had this happen before, even using the free shipping option.. So I had to chat with a rep and get them to cancel. Went digital (figure I'm never gonna want to trade this game in anyway) on PS4 and am pre-loading right now. :)

Cancelled my LE and just went digital so I could play tonight (LE was scheduled to arrive thursday). I wonder if the PS4 will be available by itself at some point.

I dislike you west coasters. You can marathon it for 3 or 4 hours and still have a somewhat functional Tuesday.
sadly a functional tuesday is not an option. It's not happening. just need to run on fumes until I get home and then I have wednesday off.

"Hi guys. Listen, they're telling me that the generators won't take it, the ship's breaking apart and all that. Just FYI."

Oh my god. I just took a nap on the couch with some Stellardrone playing. I had a dream about being in the future where there was this galactic cab company that I was using to cab my ass around the galaxy. It was amazing. Never had a dream like that before.

Then I woke up suddenly thinking I slept in. Still 2 hours left. Oh man. I am so ready.

I know it's a long shot, but any word on sharing a save between systems? Is it tied to a global account or is it specific to your platform?

Separate servers all together so I guess split saves too.

You're not making this any easier

But I think I'm going to do it

Edit: I am weak. It has happened.

I tried to fight it for a bit too. I caved in pretty much as soon as I saw Sean give a release estimate of 6pm Friday for PC.

"Mathesar, don't you have television on your planet? Theater? Films?"
"The historical documents of your culture... Yes, in fact we have begun to document our own history, from your example..."
"No, not historical documents... They're not all historical documents... I mean... surely you don't think Gilligan's Island is a-"
"Those poor people..."

I don't buy a lot of games anymore, but there is something truly inspiring about No Man's Sky. I'm happy to give these developers my money, and I can't wait to dive into this in a couple of hours.
