My brother (who is a lawyer) and I are going to sue WB and DC for false advertising, misleading visual images and gaining a profit from us and millions others due to these acts. Our case has been accepted. We begin 11.08.16

Movie Trailers are like food menus, they give you a preview of what your gonna get. If you look at a McDonald's menu and you choose to get your favourite burger, presented/showcased in a nice picture with pickles, chicken, mild cheese(you're favourite, in-fact...that's the only reason you're getting this burger...because you love mild cheese). So you use your hard worked money to pay for this burger, you get the burger, but only to find out that...this isn't the burger you ordered. Yes it has pickles and chicken...but...it doesn't have mild cheese...it has regular cheese.

Suicide Squad trailers showcased several SPECIFIC Joker scenes that I had to pay for the whole movie just so that I can go watch those SPECIFIC SCENES that WB/DC had advertised in their trailers and TV spots. These scenes are: When Joker banged his head on his car window, when Joker says, ''let me show you my toys'', when Joker punchs the roof of his car, when Joker drops a bomb with his face all messed up and says, ''BYE BYE!''. Non of these scenes were in the movie. I drove 300 miles to London to go watch these specific scenes they had explicitly advertised in their TV ads...and they didn't show them to me. Adding to this, they were also 2 specific Katana scenes they advertised that were also the reason I wanted to go watch the movie. These scenes were: Katana's eyes going black, and a slow motion shot of her and her sword taking souls...in a smokey kind of style. These scenes were advertised several times in the 1st trailer and many TV ads...but they didn't show it to me in the movie. I wasted alot of money paying and travelling to go watch this movie because of these specific scenes they had advertised to me and all of us saying, ''hey, check out our preview! this will all be in our movie, come watch it on the 5th!!''. All lies. I told the theatre about this unjust act and said I didn't get what I came here to see...can I have my money back. They laughed at me and kicked me out. So I'm now taking this to court. I want my refund, the trauma of being embarrassed as I was being kicked out and people laughing at me for wanting my refund, and also the 160 pounds of fuel money I used to drive to London from Scotland.

If you advertise something...give me what you have advertised. Period. This is becoming a habbit with movie studios, showing epic scenes in trailers...but their never shown in the movies. It's unjust.

I just want to say, join me if you feel the same way. Let's stop this nonsense of false bullshitery...and don't let them bribe you with their ''deluxe premium special directors gold extended edition supreme cut'' nonsense. You should get what they advertised as their first theatre showing and what you have paid for based on what they have showed you in their advertisements.

Our court process will begin on 11/08/16 this week.

They shouldn't advertise with scenes not in the movie... but Jesus, dude, get a grip.

EDIT:

I thought the film was lightweight and piecemeal but actually hung together better than the reviews suggested. That is, unless you thought about it for a second, at which point it sort of collapsed in on itself like a soufflé.

For instance, "What if Superman had come down and torn the roof off the White House? Who would have stopped him?" I dunno, but it probably wouldn't be the guy who can shoot really well, the lady with the baseball bat, or the man who throws boomerangs.

Then there's one awful moment in which the film nearly falls apart, when Diablo sacrifices himself. He says something akin to, "I've already had one family taken away from me - I'll not let you take another one from me." Oh, you mean these people you've known for a matter of hours and you've had two conversations with? Yeah, that's the same thing as your wife and children. I can only assume Ayer's subbed in an old piece of a Fast and Furious script.

Now I get why the cut to Joker shooting Common was awkward. Between the book description and photos, originally Joker gives him a gun and begs him to shoot Harley. Common realizes it's a no win scenario and would end up tortured if he did, so he shoots and kills himself.

I thought about that too but I think they were inferring Enchantress could possibly do something and any others possibly out there like her (hence her being in the room to show some of what she was capable of).

I actually liked Joker's love for Harley even though it doesn't fit his character at all. But reading all these alternate Joker/Harley scenes are pretty damn good. Probably a tad too dark though, i see can see the internet shit storm it would have made.

So in setting it up all he really wanted was for her to die, meaning it's just a contrivance that by doing it with the chemical it gave the end result of her being bleached white like him?

Horrible, why not just make it that he does care for her (for whatever reason - genuine love or because he loves that she is in his thrall) and wants her to prove it by jumping? All they'd need to do is cut him the bit with him looking conflicted and it would have been fine.

because he is the fucking joker! he doesnt care about anyone! thats why he is conflicted, is part of the relationship, i mean c'mon! this is not a love store is a hate story, is a dysfunctional relationship.

What's interesting is even at its worst, many of the original Joker/Harley scenes were tamer than what's in the cartoon and comics. Perhaps tamer isn't the right word. But at times Joker's attitude towards her in other media is conveyed as manipulating her for his own ends. Here, it's treated as if he truly cares about her despite his horrible natural inclinations.

I vastly prefer this version of Joker/Harley where he is more manipulative vs abusive, and also him not being 100% asshole bullshit

Having him realize that she's more important to him than just another pet is much better than Abusive Stockholm Syndrome Number 3948950

Saw this last night (Monday) at a 9:00pm show and it looked sold out in a smaller, recliner-style theatre. I really liked it! I was getting some Seven Soldier of Victory vibes from the Enchantress stuff, awesome they went right to magic existing. That paves the way for Shazam and Zatanna hopefully.

I had no problems with any character motivations or plot points. With BvS, although I enjoyed it, I could genuinely understand why a mass audience was confused at several times. I didn't get that sense at all with Suicide Squad. The length was perfect too, just long enough. I understand some stuff got cut but any more would have been too much for me.

I really appreciated how many practical effects are in this move (or maybe just amazing CG?) but glass is smashing all over the place, chunks of walls and rubble are flying around, it was great.

Anyone have a link to easter eggs? I caught one, the building being named after John Ostrander, but didn't see many mentioned in this thread.

While I can understand your first point. Your second falls apart when you remember some people can form emotional bounds pretty quickly under certain circumstances and here it makes sense. They stood by him and help him face himself and his own mistake. Him killing himself was anti-climatic but his connection with the others made sense.

For your first complant, I still say they should've went with Blockbuster as the villain. They made something strong enough to go toe to toe with (movie) Superman, but after Supes dies, it loses purpose and is put into some sort of holding. Pissed off, Blockbuster goes on a rampage, but CADMAS does have fail safe for him (at least to depower him enough to be stoppable) and need to form a squad of expendable people with enough skill to administer the fail safe (a pill or dart or something) and take down Blockbuster. Blockbuster not being stupid, takes the same formula used on him, dilutes it (he wants to be the strongest after all) and injects soldiers and citizens with it, giving himself an army (while more vunerable, they still are quite a threat) With this:
-Deadshot's ability to never miss has more of a purpose
-There is a more focused mission after saving Amanda
-The villain still makes sense, relates more to the universe around them, and fits in perfectly with the movie
-We keep Enchantress on the "good" side and get a much better character out of her instead of this random mess of a villain.
-We get better action scenes from foot soldiers that seem like more of a threat
-We get a better build up of the main villain
-We get a fight with a villain who makes more sense when he becomes vulnerable and before that point, seems damn near unstoppable (and we're just not told they are unstoppable but is quite vulnerable to explosions).

I love this movie but I am not going to ignore the obvious problems with it.

I really think the PG-13 rating hurt this movie. It wouldn't have saved it or anything but it would have helped the villains and action have more impact. So many characters and scenes felt neutered by not being able to really show the violence (That Common scene was especially jarring) or let the villains curse. Again, wouldn't have saved it, but I feel like it would have helped.

Now I get why the cut to Joker shooting Common was awkward. Between the book description and photos, originally Joker gives him a gun and begs him to shoot Harley. Common realizes it's a no win scenario and would end up tortured if he did, so he shoots and kills himself.

Just a crazy amount of indecision in this film.

Yeah, theres a few pics that back up a few of those descriptions:

Still, who knows how true that all is or if its some dude just conjecturing based on released stills and media and other impressions from early screenings.

To my knowledge those pics didn't come out until the BvS special features were released, which was what, July? Seems legit.

This is done all the time lol. Even with games, MGSV is a perfect example. Things change from the time the trailer is cut to when the final version of the film is cut. Most of the scenes that weren't used wouldn't have made all that much of a difference anyway after DC decided to alter the movie.

Finally got to see it the other night and was really hoping the critics would be wrong. All in all its not a terrible film but its not great either. I really enjoyed Amanda Waller and Harley's performances. Will Smith as Deadshot was ok but wasn't great. It really just felt like Will Smith playing a random hitman doing a will smith impersonation. I really liked Leto's Joker. It was actually closer to my ideal version of the Joker compared to TDK Joker. Not saying it was Oscar worthy (like TDK version was) but imo it was really close the Mark Hamill's BTAS Joker. The Tattoos were bad but other than that I didnt have an issue with him.

You could really tell this film changed at the last minute and was missing huge parts due to not being able to shoot new stuff along with the old scenes that were cut. WB seriously screwed up by coming in after BVS tanked with the critics. They need to trust their directors to do what they were hired to do. Atleast Marvel can work with their directors and writers during pre production to decide what they want to do and just let them do their thing. It really shows that they know what they are doing when there are rarely any cut scenes from their movies. This film would have also benefited greatly with an R rating. If their was ever a DCU movie to be R rated a la Deadpool, Suicide Squad would be it.

All in all, this was a huge let down. Especially after the awesome marketing campaign leading up to release.

Just got back from Suicide Squad.

Really enjoyed it.

Loved Jai as Boomerang, who knew he could act and have a personality?

Unsure on Leto Joker though.

For the record, Civil War used alternate takes & scenes not in the film for their trailer too

Though that was to specifically be deceptive on things, especially with Spidey

I don't mind when they do it tbh, can't see the harm as long as the trailer isn't deceptive in a bad way

Needs to get rid of tattoos, drop the jewelry, and put some clothes on lol.. Dude was shirtless the entire movie. I don't mind if they want the ladies to get some love too, but doing it to a character that always has his clothes is weird. I agree this Joker version is more of the classic Joker, but he had little time and it was too lovey dovey for my taste (which confirms since the OG cut had Joker how he should have been)

I concur.

Not that I thought Leto was good, but if Joker is a hyper flexible character then you may as well try new stuff. Him as a warped, manipulative parody and reflection of Twilight style romances is certainly unique.

I usually don't mind it, or rather, it's a mild annoyance when it happens. Usually, it's not much. But with SS, a lot of the shots in the trailer weren't in the movie.

It kinda depends tbh, you can tell they were surprised by the reaction to the Squad trailer so they retrofitted it a bit.

I feel like I tend to reward risk/give more slack to things that try something new, so going that route with Joker/Harley intrigues me since there's more options there than her breaking free & him just being insane

I didn't do it!

Speaking as an Iron Man 3 fan, I'm into the idea of marketing messing with expectations.

I understand the disappointment but suing puts you in the same camp as the woman who expected Drive to be Fast and Furious.

Wow, dat praise!!!

So sad. Why couldn't they give us this version? Why screw Jared Leto over like that? :( Would have loved to see the Joker and Batman scene too.

Wtffffff, that cut sounds amazing.

this is fucking depressing.

Damn... Any chance they will release this cut?

This cut sounds fucking incredible. I enjoyed the TC but damn WB...wtf...

Just remember, he starts with this:

So this is in no way me saying that Suicide Squad is bad because it isn't!
I loved it but the early screening was just better.

Temper your expectations. He "loved" the current cut of Suicide squad.

Slipknot was basically the movie equivalent of Electrocutioner from Arkham Origins.

Kind of. Slipknot kind of does the same thing in an issue of Squad if memory serves, except he doesn't die, he gets his arm blown off.

So Slipknot thinking it was bluff and calling it incorrectly was pretty faithful.

What right does Batman think he has to apprehend Deadshot? They both wear masks to deal out vigilante justice killing bad guys.

The only difference is one does it for money to support his troubled daughter and the other just does it because he's full of hate.

But he does sometimes in the same way that larfleeze cares about his stuff.

But he has been written to love harley
